Mafia: The Conspiracy

Its a conspiracy I tell you. I was about to post and lost connection.

We might get some more pickup in this game after the Day end in the other game and **Hal Briston ** has been away for a little while.

**MHaye ** the reverse of your comment could be

“Just because someone was town power role in the last game and got you killed off, doesn’t mean they will be town power role in this game” :stuck_out_tongue:

Personally, I think holding grudges from game to game is not a good idea and each should be played on their own.

Given the tendency of most scum to look townie and most townies to look scummy, this is probably going to be the nicest town around, especially if 50% of the people are scum instead of the usual 4-6.

It might also make trying to start anything difficult as no-one is really going to want to put themselves in the town firing line.

When did you start taking count? BlaM and I had a friendly banter early on, but you may have started keeping track after that?

And, you’re right in that I just got back. I’m not one to lurk during the week, but I often travel for rugby on the weekends.

Sorry, good question. I started counting when the game officially began, at post 143.

Sorry. I should not have been so terse. Of course the statement itself isn’t anti-town. I just found that you made the statement at all rather odd. It is not so much that you made the statement, but what would motivate you to make such a statement. To be honest, I was very much influenced by the statement by someone else (I need to look up who that was) that you were scum in the previous game. If it is indeed the case that you were not scum in the previous game, then that theory is obviously wrong and my vote will change accordingly.

Not that I can remember the game all that well, but I do remember being suspicious of you for quite some time. I kind of lumped you and Scuba_Ben together though, so that’s difficult to seperate my thoughts on the last game. But your link does do very much to placate my suspicion of you in this game.
I still think the comment is unnecessary; but your motivation for making the statement has now been made sufficiently clear.

I did a little bit of hunting. In the last game, MHaye was the “Chia Bingo Manager.” I didn’t follow that game, so if someone who was in that game could help me out so I don’t have to hunt for whether or not MHaye was pro-town in the last game, I’d appreciate it. My vote retraction is ready for when such confirmation occurs.

Let’s see…

Voting for a dumb reason … check
Third vote on an early bandwagon … check
Backtracking when she got called on it … check

I don’t like this vote at all.
Unvote amrussell
Vote sachertorte

The “Chia Bingo Manager” was a pro-town role that allowed MHaye to bring back from the death a player of his choosing once his “Bingo Card” had been filled out. It was populated with 18 player names in 20 squares, diagonals didn’t count (5*4) grid, and the squares were marked when the occupying player died.

I’m supposed to read your previous games? Im in like 4 active mafia games at the moment, i have no time to read up games I am not in just because. My vote came at in the 1st page, we were still in the random stage. A vote <> willing to lynch. Your defensiveness this early on is suspicious and has been noted.

On the board where I used to play, it became a sort of “signature post” every game - so much so that when I missed the signup for the first time someone else made the post, starting with “Well since MHaye isn’t here…”

The only games I’ve ever missed it out on were that game (after I subbed in), the first game ever played on that board (because we were all new) and… Firefly. Since I’m not dead in that game I’m not saying here what my alignment is. (Ask me in-game there and I’ll answer. But you probably already know what I’ll say…)

I believe you were suspicious of me early on. But I was the Apprentice, and Scuba_Ben a regular Believing citizen. (I still have my compiled votes.)

The three games I’ve played here :

The Good Ship Hispaniola. Vanilla Crew. Thrown off ship Day 2.
Cult of Sekham. The Apprentice, Town-aligned flawed Investigator.
Asylum Lane. Town-aligned Chia Bingo Manager. Super-secret role (it wasn’t in the setup). Caused ructions when I claimed and asked the Crazy Townie to kill Blaster Master so I could resurrect the Therapist (the investigator role) in Day 3. Especially since poor BlaM was as scummy as they come in that game. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m sure there are people around who can confirm that list.

Four games? How do you keep them all straight?

Read up, no. Friends don’t ask friends to subject themselves to the second longest thread in MPS history just to learn a few facts. You could have asked me, and since prior games are a matter of public record, I’d have answered truthfully. But you jumped to a conclusion. It irritated me a bit, and when Sachertorte added the third vote on me for no reason, I got a bit snarky. I’m sorry for the snark.

Sachertorte, I’m sorry that my tone got a bit short with you too.

Now, if I’d been consistent and bared my teeth at ShadowFacts as well, I’d be apologising to him as well. I’m slow today. ShadowFacts is named after a horse!

Now I must add, I found sachertorte’s following of my vote to be interesting too he definitely gets -1 on my towninessometer. This is why we want voting free information for all!

Thank you.

Not a problem. It was my fault anyway. My vote for you was way too short and unexplained. When I looked back at my post I then realized how much I left out. Just because I know my reasoning doesn’t mean it will be conveyed through my vote alone. And on top of that, my reasoning being wrong doesn’t help at all.

Are we back to this already? Haven’t we thoroughly discussed the ramifications of this so called scum tell?

I see your “Third vote is a scum tell” and raise you one “Pointing out that the third vote is a scum tell is a scum tell.”

Oh, and I’m a guy.

Agreed.

whinny

My agreeing with you makes you think I’m scum? How does this make sense?

The Day ended in the Firefly game, so hopefully the players over there will show up here.

If third vote is always a scum vote, then how did anyone ever lynch anyone in previous games? I do remember following some of the older games, but I thought that no one really took that seriously.

because my vote wasn’t much more than random. The reasoning wasn’t good. It wasn’t intended to be good. So your following it, a 3rd vote, which traditionally is the tsart of the bandwagon, I found your vote interesting. IGMEOY

Don’t look at me; I haven’t played since Mafia II.

It can be an indicator that a player is jumping on a bandwagon, and scum are more likely to do that. Putting on a third vote, by itself, shouldn’t be seen as scummy but I didn’t like the combination of sachertorte jumping on a bandwagon, the reasoning being poor and him(sorry, sachertorte) backing off so quickly he got called on the poor reasoning.

Just wondering: would you have preferred he stuck with his “poor” reasoning? Please don’t take this as a defense of sachertorte or his vote, but based on what you said above, you kind of put him in a Catch-22, didn’t you?

Fair enough.

But can I propose that we try not to drag in too much excess baggage from previous game? I didn’t keep up with a lot of them (okay, basically all of them). And really, I don’t think it’s in keeping with the spirit of this game.

It isn’t always a scum tell,(neither is any other scum tell) but it has worked a few times that I recall.

When I saw sach’s vote for mhaye I thought it was odd because AFAIK, mhaye has said that in every single game he has played.Doesn’t mean that mhaye isn’t scum, but the reason for the vote was way off IMO.HOS on Sach.

Ok, that’s a fair comment. Ideally, I’d prefer that votes not be made with stupid reasoning, but you’re right that backing off of that vote is better than sticking with it.
