If we are going to somehow overcome our bad luck and win, it is going to take participating town players to do it. Sario could easily be wolf, and if he is town then no way the wolves are going to lynch him because non-participation by townies is a huge benefit to wolves. Sangfroid has posted some pretty strange stuff, but at least he is trying.
I still don’t have any idea where to put my vote. I have no idea about Sangfriod, to be honest. Maybe it’s a good vote? I’m not sure. Sario also leaves me more or less blank, and if he’s subbed out I don’t see how having him in the game helps town… But if he’s town and we lynch him, we’d be even more fucked I guess.
Well that’s not very helpful, is it? How am I gonna defend myself if you refuse to answer me? You haven’t actually addressed any of those restated reasons earlier in the game, you’ve cherry-picked a series of posts and put them in a wholly new context, overlooking what was happening at the time. So what am I to do? Just stay put in the pillory awaiting my execution?
And this is borderline obstructive. I used most of my morning going back, quoting me and others, in a futile attempt to defend myself against you. You’re not even gonna give me the courtesy of an answer?
He’s been “wary” of players either voting for him or people voicing suspicion of him, without giving many reasons for why not to be. If you have nothing to hide and early on, nothing to loose, why be so defensive?
Gotta get this off my chest as I could be night killed this Night and therefore not have a chance to say it at all:
I am pissed, and it generally takes a lot to piss me off at others. And I know this is just a game. But…
I play a lot of duplicate bridge. If my partner makes a mistake, I find it no big deal. He is trying and the game is hard. We’ll get 'em next time. And if I make a mistake it bothers me way more than it should because usually I should have known better, and I owe it to my partner to give him the best game I can.
But if my partner were to show up, and then constantly be on the phone with his wife, or flakes out because he is going on about something at work, or a spat with his wife, or what’s going on on Game of Thrones etc etc, then I may get a little peeved at partner. I might hesitate to play with him again. Because he signed up to play. No one held the proverbial gun to his head. If too much was going on, I understand, but cancel our game and I will try for another partner. I also like playing with newbies who make mistakes, but are trying to learn. Newbies can sometimes even win!
If you are town then you signed up to be my partner. I don’t expect you to be right, but I do expect you to try.
I also want to stick up now for Prof. Pepperwinkle. He may not have posted the longest posts, but he is the fourth most prolific poster in this game by number of post counts. He is trying and he pegged JSexton earlier than I did.
Hi all - sorry, been a busy few days here- instead of a relatively calm weekend.
I’ll probably be offline during the actual End of Day, so I"ll get some thoughts down and submit a vote.
My first thought was to vote for Plumpudding, based on the Day 1 stuff and Thing Fish’s good case. But, I’m moving away from that - maybe due to **Biotop’s **work, and his own rebuttal.
So, now I’m concerned that **Plum **just looks like an ‘easy’ vote that could turn out wrong. I went for the easy vote with Dante G, and that turned out wrong too.
I am most suspicious of **sario **and **sangfroid **right now - sangfroid’s post at #1137 seemed a bit off to me, though **Biotop **didn’t agree. **Sario **hasn’t put much out there to directly call out, but the analysis of general play style seems to be wolfish.
While we obviously can’t take anything or anyone for granted, **Biotop **and Thing Fish have put in a lot of effort on pro-town messages, analyses, etc. so, unless one or both of them are playing the greatest wolf-game ever, I have to pretty much assume town, and take them at face value.
For the other players (like Johnny, Jimmy, Nonsuch, Diggit), I don’t have much of a sense. I’ll have to work on that. I also want to look at who else people have suspicions on, and see if I can see their case too.
So, for today, I’ll say
vote Sario
I think that has the best chance of turning up a wolf lying low for Today.
Maybe many of you didn’t know what you were getting into, but Mafia takes a lot of time. It is expected that you participate. If you do not, we’re guaranteed to loose. I was on the fence whether to sign up or not, some of you probably feel I shouldn’t have and right now *I *feel I shouldn’t have. In a face to face game I can ask you directly and expect an answer, here I’m just talking into a void. I know it’s difficult to have even participation by all players, but a little would go a long way. Some of us have invested a lot more time and effort in this game than others, and those of us who have are loosing because of those of you who have not.
I agree with Biotop, the Prof. has tried, he’s been there every Day, although short on words he has atleast voiced his opinions and he has voted.
Why did you have to wait until I voted for you? That’s a very wolfish thing to do. I’ve asked you a couple of direct questions about who you thought was wolf or town and you ignored them, ever so patiently waiting for me to vote for you?
And, yes, of course, I am willing to die for town, but I don’t think my being lynched would help town very much. Why do you seem to think that your death would help town?
So there are several people voting for me, and I’m having a hard time coming up with a defense for myself, given my general absenteeism. With that in mind, I’m voting for our least active player
Sorry about not voting yet. I’ve been a bit occupied with being a favourite candidate for some time, and I’m pretty unsure about suspects so far. I am torn on the case against Sario. On one hand, he’s abstained from voting and told us. That doesn’t really scream wolf to me. On the other hand, he might be wolf laying low, keeping off record and chiming in on who to NK instead of voting to lynch.
I’ve looked over a few players today and TexCat’s case on Sangfroid is looking more and more convincing. I went back to post 877, and one thing I find interesting is JSexton immediately coming with a backhanded compliment:
Bolded for emphasis.
We didn’t know Dante’s alignment and plenty of us had suspicions towards TexCat. JSexton knew Dante was town. It looks like a try to smudge both players at the same time, while having an out by leaving TexCat in the either/or category. Maybe I’m reading too much into it.
TexCat has been backing her case up with quite a few good points. What does wolf darts mean? Why didn’t you name your suspects, only stating you’re suspicious in retaliation? Why have you been so defensive, especially early on when you had little to fear for? Why are you still holding those grudges in light of new information? Why haven’t you answered TexCat’s accusations(I can’t believe I just posted that…)?
Okay, a little over two hours to go… Anyone want to chime in with something? I’m terribly afraid of a mislynch and very lost at the moment.
Sario, Cygnus was also the only one voting Septimus attentative enough to try to switch his vote after Septimus’ incredibly late claim.
I didn’t put town confidence in you, I just agreed with you having put in a minimal effort in to play this game. With that said, maybe I will put town confidence in you, if I survive and you do as you say you will. I very much hope you will.
Morning, this post courtesy of gogo inflight wi fi
FWIW strong town lead on biotop
town lean on texcat and Thingfish
Diggit for reasons I mentioned yesterday - seams like a highly opportunistic attack on me. Yesterday I simply raised the issue that the seer claim should be examined and thought about, several players, including Diggit seamed to accept the claim without question, the only people who knew, at the time , the claim and pointing the finger at JSexton to be true, were wolves.
Digit pointing the scummy finger at me for questioning the claim smacks of someone who knows too much, thus thought my skepticism was an easy target to get some wolf traction going.
ThingFish case on Plum is pretty convincing
Prof Pepperwinkle , I just get a feeling he is town and not quite sure about the game, his analysis of me seamed to include analyzing night fluff comments
Sangfrioid , he pinged me with his " those to seam to be having a fake wolf fight " comment back on day one. Just the kind of comment a wolf may throw out there to see what gets tractions.
Well, it’s a slow race, but at least it’s not boring! This looks like a day we can get information from, but we really need a good lynch.
Obviously I hope that people will consider my post 1114 and Plumpudding’s response in 1156 and vote for him. I agree with sangfroid that Sario has moved from lurker to total absentee, which means he has probably just lost interest in the game, which doesn’t make him unusually likely to be scum. But then on preview: he is showing up just enough to vote, isn’t he? Hmmm…
In the event that we do manage to lynch Plumpudding and he turns up scum and I turn up as an entree, there’s one other thing I wanted to point out; the intensity of Biotop’s conviction since early on that Plum is Town. (posts quoted below snipped for brevity)
Here he’s pitching in with the attack on TexCat, after she gets pissed and votes for Plumpudding on day one:
TexCat: You may be a bit ired by Plumpudding’s attacks, but voting for someone in retaliation does not help town and in fact is actually harmful. If you have a real reason to suspect him of wolf, please explain. Otherwise, what are we to think?
[/QUOTE]
Funny thing is that Plumpudding by now had already stated categorically that both TexCat and septimus were scum, and unless I missed it Biotop never criticized him for that.
Right. If TexCat had been lynched and turned up Town, who would have been to blame for the mislynch? Not the people actually driving the bandwagon on her, but the lurkers!! And then in his very first post on day two, he gets back to business.
And then in his summary of Plumpudding he is back on this theme, of saying “it might not have been great strategy for scum to do that” and turning it into “scum would absolutely never ever do that”.
Well, apparently he wasn’t won over after all:
I don’t know that you’re Town at all, and if Plumpudding turns up scum, I will be fairly sure that you aren’t.
painfully close to a 4 way tie there
For self preservation reasons I would move my vote to Sario, but I think DC is more likely to be wolf than sario, so will stay as is
