Keep trying, pal. You’re next.
I still want to hear from the people voting for Suburban. There were potentially up to three kills to be had last night.
- Mosier’s poisoning
- Hal’s kill through his powers
- Scum’s kill.
With #1 you can either believe a) that Mosier is the Seraph and he was coincidently selected to be poisoned or you can believe b) that both Mosier and RyJae are scum and have concocted a story about the poisoning to fool everyone else. I think A is more likely than B and I choose to believe Mosier is Town. Though B would be really sneaky and all hell’s going to break loose if we wake up one Day and someone else died of a poisoning.
With #2, all we have at this point is Hal’s word as there’s zero evidence towards his claim and his claim is so far beyond what’s been laid out in the rules it’s going to take some extraordinary evidence to convince me. Though even were I to believe the claim, there’s still the possibility that Hal chooses to side with Scum rather than Town which makes him a threat. That said, I’m willing to give Hal the benefit of the doubt. For now.
So Hal’s claim for last night is that he targetted Suburban and it somehow got blocked. The only two reasons I can think would be the Hawk or Scum using the Memento to use a power. But I can’t believe there’s any good reason for Town to waste a power protecting Suburban. Anyone want to stand up and make that claim? I’ll at least hear you out before I vote to lynch you
OK, so let’s look at #3. Because this is the most important and needs to be accounted for. One theory floating around is that both Scum and Hal targetted Suburban and a single protection covered both kills. OK, but if that’s the case, then Suburban is Town! No one’s stood up with a role claim today that would explain how scum hasn’t killed anyone last night. Did scum just forget?
Look, as I said before, if we lynch Suburban (likely) and he turns out to be scum then I’ll be happy. Actually more than just happy as it will provide a great deal more to work with for Day 6. But it seems that the only evidence we have to go on at this point is that he DIDN’T die last night. Why would he have died? Because of Hal’s claim of a power use he’s provided no proof for thus far. That seems a really thin hook to hang our hats on.
So if Suburban is town, we lynch Hal next.
Update:

gnarlycharlie - One Vote - Enderw24 (827)
Enderw24 - One Vote - gnarlycharlie (837)
Enderw24, you’ve missed some pretty key stuff.
Suburban claimed Prioress, and claims that he defended himself. Storyteller says that a single protection will stop any number of simultaneous attacks.
Crazily enough, that post actually lessened my suspicion of him. It seems very honest, even though I disagree with his reasoning.
If Stanislaus is town and RyJae is scum, I don’t see RyJae making that post now, when it’s been quiet and everyone could turn on him to fill the quiet.
Why you have a hard on for me/Alka I do not know. I still think it is because you where not paying attention to the game. As witnessed by your comments about subs etc. You just assumed wrong, as people are known to do. I am town, I will turn up town.
You assumed I wouldn’t know you got poisoned, you assumed I was the sub we where delayed for, and you assumed I am scum. All wrong.
I am glad you’re happy about someone claiming you’re town in a factual manner, but in this game unless mod confirmed that is a bad move.
<bolding mine>
Which ideas were those, exactly?
As I recall, I said that I thought **Stanislaus **was non-Town (I’m leaning 3rd party rather than Scum) based on his voting history, and that **Mahaloth **looked Scummy for his general playstyle. I claimed that I protected myself last Night, which is why **Hal’s **attempted kill failed.
I don’t recall floating any other theories Today, but perhaps my memory is faulty…
Exactly. But if you believe that claim then one of two things must be true
- Suburban is Town!
- Suburban is Scum and used the Memento. But if he’s scum, where did the scum kill go?
By the way, Subs, I appreciate you listing out your suspicions for after your death. I’m kinda hoping you flip scum so we can ignore them, though!
There is at least one more option.
- Suburban is scum and used the hawk.
You’re right, this is hinky. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have some heartburn about this lynch. For one, it came together fairly quickly. Hal Briston has a truly extraordinary claim, without a shred of evidence yet to back it up. But I’m also not so keen on the idea that he made it up. It’s very Storyteller, and the powers are pretty over-the-top. I’d expect a false claim to dial it back, and present fewer powers that require demonstration. So, of the two, I’m picking Suburban. He’s my best bet for today.
Patience.
We’re only just over half-way through the period the Day might end in.
I’ve been doing rereads of the individual posts of the unclaimed players, and wanted to prevent anyone else from having to go through the whole “WTF happened to Tengu’s posts??” thing that I just went through:
Tengu has changed his name to Kamino Neko, and this is reflected in all his posts.
Day Five, Dusk
*Considering that the subject was the impending death of one of their number, the conversation along the road remained relatively civil throughout the fifth day. Oh, there were some who viewed others with suspicion, but the discussion was calm and a consensus was reached with little difficulty.
The Road to Canterbury wound, as the Day waned, around a sharp curve bordered by a long drop onto a mound of stone. They found it rather most convenient, when the time came for Suburban Plankton to face his lynch, to test whether he could perhaps fly.
He could not.
His pockets were empty when they searched him, and they found little of interest in his pack. They were about to bury him as they had the others, regretting another tragic failure, when they noticed the setting sun flash off something in his slack-jawed mouth. A close look revealed what appeared to be pure silver, embedded in a single tooth, it’s purpose unknown.
And on the back of his neck, concealed by his shoulder-length hair, something else. A brand of sorts. In the shape of a rose.*
Suburban Plankton, who started out as the REEVE but was a member of the Brotherhood of the Rose, has been lynched.
Night Five begins here, and will end between 1 and 5 PM EST on Saturday, July 28. Happy Olympics, everybody!
Woot!
Well.
Perhaps there was a Hawk flying around last Night. Or perhaps Hal is still lying in his teeth and SP survived because he was not attacked.
Incidentally, I strongly suspect that the Prioress is also a Brotherhood member, or there would have been a counterclaim.
In Olympic news, Team GB has just conceded a goal to Senegal. making the score 1-1 with 8 minutes to play plus injury time. (The competition started early.)
“…and in the silliest bit of Mafia play ever, he used The Memento”. ![]()
Your stabbing Big Brother in the back in Firefly mafia is close, though. You have to admit that.
