Upper-right corner, next to the red warning sign with an exclamation point, click the number, you’ll be taken to a page that just has that post, take the URL from that and there’s your link.

I think I might have to sub out, I’m kinda in over my head here. There’s like over 340 posts so far with some people ranking over 40. My newb ass can’t keep up with this, and I don’t have to time/stamina to contribute anywhere close to these posts in number, length, nor relevance.

Jeez, it’s not even the second day! How am I going to last months treading water like this?

It’s quicker to right click the number and save the link and then paste it into your quote.

Hey Trepa, the vote count is wrong, Svejk unvoted me.

The game slows down very quickly as the days go on. By Day 5, there might be maybe 100 posts the entire Day.

I’d prefer you try to stick with it, since I like seeing new players give this game a shot.

Orcenio, are you at least having fun following along? Did you follow or read any of the previous games? I signed up here for the feuds and found myself glued to the screen following a mafia game, noticing things and wanting to shout at people to vote so and so for being so scummy. So when the next game started, I jumped in. It can be very intimidating at the start, seeing every post questioned and people trying to twist others’ words, especially when there’s a lot of activity but it should be entertaining and engaging, even if you’ve no idea what’s going on or who’s who. This game was billed as newbie friendly but I expect that’s related more to the setup than to the actual gameplay which depends on the players, not the mod. You don’t need to post a lot - a lot of those posts are one liners or fluff - post as much as you’re comfortable and able to, just be sure to get your thoughts out there, ask questions if something isn’t clear, and don’t be afraid to be attacked - it’s just part of the fun. With 20 players, this game should take between 4 and 8 weeks, no longer.

FluidDruid, I was re-reading your eight posts. One of them is you signing up, another is you confirming as the last player without much of an explanation or an apology even when you’ve been called out for it. Then there’s some fluff (here and here). The other four posts have you interact with wevets who voted against you, and talk about gameplay. Now in the gameplay posts you repeat that what we as town need is information, that the game needs to be played, that lurkers are useless and need to be pursued. I agree. So here goes:

I think you need to start practicing what you preach!

So far you’ve just pointed out (correctly, in my view) that Wevets’s vote against you was not justified when he voted, and poorly justified after the fact. But other than the FoS on Fubbleskag that you add as an afterthought (maybe because you feel it’s odd to say people need to play the game to gain information when you’re not playing the game a whole lot?) is not nearly enough.

My posting is going to come and go in spurts. I have no internet access at work so for most of the day M-F, I’m offline. On the weekends and holidays, I’m much more active. A lot of my posts are either fluff or informational and related to a question someone asks. I’m not going to riff off of someone’s fluff hours later and if someone else has already answered the question, I’m not going to barge in with another answer. If you look for content-based posts rather than all the posts put together, it looks a lot more consistent in frequency. As far as guidance goes, you’re hitching your cart to the wrong horse. (But I understand the impetus. I have a really bad tendency to latch onto claimed masons or power roles and rubberstamp their votes justifying it as at least I know they think they’re right and I don’t have to worry about scum trying to lead me down the primrose path.)

So we only have eleven votes? It seems like everyone has participated in the conversation at least minimally, and a number have contributed more, but 45% of our votes are going to arrive in the last few hours of the day…

Maybe it’s not lurking we should be worried to stop, but those who aren’t voting until the discussion is over. It’d be interesting to see what people who haven’t made a vote yet think, and there’s still time for it to change a bunch of votes.

BTW, thanks for the explanation of the ‘third vote rule.’

Looking through the player list and current lynch candidates, I’m slightly pinged by Mahaloth, as usual, Scathach and choie, as mentioned before. Gregorio, Hirka, Orcenio, and gnarlycharlie need to post or request to be subbed out. As for Precambrian, fisha and the other candidates:

Precambrian’s vote didn’t appear malicious to me in context but he made no effort to explain himself until he gained a third vote and became the lynch leader, why not if there was truly no malice and the vote was a joke response to fubbles? That looks more suspect than the vote itself.

Fisha appears to have taken SilverJan’s post out of context. Either it was reaching for a reason to vote someone who has been viewed as an easy target or just a gut reaction. SilverJan’s play this game is certainly different but she has other priorities which go a long way towards explaining the sobriety. I’d like to know what she thinks Svejk could possibly know that makes him suspicious of her now: “I find it very curious that a random vote has turned to a suspicious one, is it just semantics or does he know more than I do?”

I don’t think Fubbles attempted to discourage people from making cases or attacked anyone voting for Precambrian and, given Astral’s error with Day end, I’m not seeing much of a case against him but I dislike the abstain vote.

Wevets, I prefer to give the newbies a little rope, Day 1 is especially tough for them. He’s being voted by fluid for his unjustified vote on her and by Precambrian for placing the 3rd vote on him, some omgus there.

Vote: choie

I wasn’t completely pleased with the “I don’t know what to do post” (post 333) It reminds me of Captain Pinkie’s "I don’t really get into the game until day 3 (and some of us know how well that worked out).
My other primary suspect at this point is fisha. If you want to know why, read my posts.

bolding mine; note that my point here is not to go out of our way to lynch lurkers on Day one, but that without any better cases presented, doing so is a better alternative than abstaining or mis-lynching an active townie on a weak or no case. if we lynch a town, we lynch a town; but if we lynch an inactive town we’ve gained the same information but retained more potential for future information.

that said, I do now see that abstention brings no value to town, or the game for that reason.

side note: I’ve been wondering wtf FoS meant but never bothered to ask, thank you.

I realize that you’ve downgraded your suspicions of me, but I wanted to say that ‘implicitly attacking’ is a serious stretch, in my opinion.

and now, I need to come up with a decision on a vote; I meant to get back and do this hours ago, but ended up working late and then had a surprise dinner visit from the inlaws; on the bright side, I managed to make the Dropbox API my bitch this afternoon, so there’s that.

you weren’t responding to me, but I think what you’re saying is that a mis-lynch of a lurker is less likely to provide any useful voting record for potential future cases, which is something I hadn’t thought of previously.

maybe it’s because it’s past my bedtime or maybe I’m just an idiot, but the only two relevant statements I could find from your post history toDay are below, and they don’t amount to a particularly strong case in my opinion. not that we have a requirement for strong cases toDay, obviously - I’m just curious if I’ve overlooked something or if you wish to add more, on the record.

Yes, I think I mentioned a couple of times that I found the timing of fisha’s vote opportunistic.

Jan had gotten a vote.
Scathach had listed Jan as simple “slight Scum”
I pressed Scathach as to why, and got a pretty weak reason "lack of fluff’ as I recall.
The Fisha came in and voted for Jan because of using the words suspicion and suspect.
It almost seemed as if fisha were hoping to get some traction going on someone.

Now, it’s not a strong case, not at all.

So, yes, it’s not a solid case, but fisha is my other main suspect at this point.

agree it’s a weak case, but it’s a case, which is better than I’ve got so far :\

Well, it’s the same problem you had in DeNDee, isn’t it? But then it was peppering your posts with references to being a novice. Now, it’s just comments on how sucky Day 1 is. The problem is that comments about how sucky day 1 is and how nobody looks scummy often set off alarms in people’s heads because scum know exactly who is scummy and who isn’t. In order to fake a case they have to frame someone and are therefore looking for genuinely scummy actions that aren’t made by scum. It’s a catch-22 sort of thing.

vote fisha

Her analysis of Silver Jan’s post seems unnecessarily unflattering.

Fubble’s abstention is annoying. (If we all voted to abstain and no one was lynched Today, it would be equivalent to starting the game off on Night 1 and why give scum a free pass like that?) What I can’t decide is scummier is fubble’s post or maha’s reaction to it.

Sorry, been down and out with bronchitis, drugs should fully kick in by tomorrow.

I told myself I wouldn’t log out tonight without coming up with a vote, so here’s my thoughts on all 20 players’ after a review of Day 1:

  1. Inner Stickler (m): sporadic activity, mostly mechanics or general information, one case, two FoS [neutral]
  2. Astral Rejection (m): active, some mechanics and two cases [lean town]
  3. Mahaloth (m): active, with two cases; general ‘bitchy’ tone, but I think that’s status quo [neutral]
  4. Scathach (f): less active than others, but seems to be without fluff; doing a lot of out loud thinking and no voting, with one case [neutral]
  5. Precambrianmollusc (m): active, mostly mechanics; two caseless votes [slight lean scum]
  6. gregorio (m): lurker
  7. MentalGuy (m): less active than others, but with two cases [slight lean town]
  8. Hirka T’Bawa (m): lurker
  9. septimus (m): low activity, one caseless (bandwagon?) vote and one FoS [very slight lean scum]
  10. choie (f): active, mostly new player questions; one random vote [neutral]
  11. orcenio (m): lurker; requested sub
  12. special ed (m): very active, mostly fluff/mechanics; one late/weak case; general ‘special ed’ tone, status quo [neutral]
  13. wevets (m): active, one random vote and one weak case [slight lean town]
  14. Silver Jan (f): active (less than usual?) one weak omgus vote [very slight lean scum]
  15. gnarlycharlie (m): lurker
  16. GuiriEnEspaña (m): active, questioning others’ cases, no real cases, provided opinion summary without a vote [very slight lean scum]
  17. Švejk (m): active, lots of new player questions; one random vote, one case [lean town]
  18. fluiddruid (f): active, with a late start; weak omgus vote [slight lean scum]
  19. fisha (f): active, mostly mechanics; one weak case [slight lean scum]

Vote Precambrianmollusc

and now that it’s 2 hours past my bedtime, I’m going the fuck to sleep!

Hmm, I think I’ve mentioned not having a clue how to vote on the first day a grand total of (drum roll please…) two times. So “Now, it’s just comments on how sucky Day 1 is” is exaggerating a wee bit, don’t you think?

I did get a giggle out of your calling fisha on being “unnecessarily unflattering” to **Silver Jan[/b[, after tarring me by claiming that I’m constantly harping on how sucky Day 1 is. That is funny.

unvote fluiddruid

vote Inner Stickler for mischaracterizing my posts, for waiting until the very last night before Night falls to vote for anyone, for sucking me into this annoying freakin’ game in the first place despite the fact that I nearly got an ulcer last time I played and vowed not to play it again, for being the third vote on fisha which is a scum tell but he should know that it’s a scum tell and so therefore he thinks it’s safe to vote third because we’d think no true scum would dare vote third, and, finally, for trying to protect Silver Jan for some unknown reason. What does he know? What is he hiding? Is Jan the godfather? Why was she in Dealey Plaza on that day, anyway?

There, now I’m officially a Mafia player: voting someone for spurious reasons akin to John Nash seeing patterns in his newspaper clippings. Yay!
