This, my friends, seems like the first instance of “perfect knowledge” during this game.
I know I’m not a Cultist. We all know **Captain Klutz **(RIP) was a Believer. Who else had that knowledge beforehand? Not even the Oracle had that much certainty in his beliefs.
I don’t see how this is a good catch at all. It is pure speculation. For all we know the power could be “reveal one of those who killed you”. In this case it would have made sense to go after Pleonast now. Regardless it doesn’t matter as there is no way we can know what the powers are until Pleonast reveals them or he is night killed so the discussion is moot.
Interesting. Kyrie does definitely seem to be keeping his hands clean somehow. I’m willing to put my money where my mouth is regarding my prior posts (2345-6-7) on Kyrie, since I’ve yet to hear any explanation regarding the points in my accusation.
Mostly when I see someone defending someone else I wonder why it would happen. Now, in this case, it seems like a typical scenario where scum tries to get on the good side of someone else while, at the same time, getting bonus points by the rest of the town by correctly identifying two non-Cultists.
Might as well throw my 0.02 in. Kyrie is my next target as well. Clockwork Jackal did some rather scummy things early on in the game and was high on the list of potential scum for a number of people. Then he quit, Kyrie taking over. I would imagine it is a hard task to take over for someone who is already on a number of lists. One way to get out of this list is by proving how helpful you are. Kyrie has done this with her multiple writeups on people. IIRC all of the people she has done a write-up of gave her the impression of Believers. So I guess this is WIFOM thing. If a sub came in and was scum for a player who had already pinged a number of scumdars what would you do? Either lay low or come out being very helpful. Of course this help wouldn’t take the form of actual scum finding though. Potentially this is what Kyrie has done.
I think Diggit was making the point that scum would know who was not on their side. Regardless, I don’t see how saying Diggit and CK had poor logic counts as “perfect knowledge”. Care to expand that thought, Diggit?
Interesting. Did anyone do a work up on Kyrie? I seem to remember one. (sorry for my lazyness, but I just got a new client at work and my time is going to be a little tighter) I remember thinking CJ was scummy Day 1, I would like to take a look at Kyrie’s posting history.
Also, Diggit, I have heard you talk about perfect information before, but I didn’t really follow M3 past Day 3 or so. You want to expand on your theory a bit? (I think it is similar to Gad and Storytellers scum hunting theories, but further explination can’t hurt.)
Thing is, one of the few mistakes I have seen (from scum) is that, when they see two (or more) non-scum heading for the gallows-or the dunk as it were, is to proclaim the innocence of the people and refrain from voting for either of them.
Kyrie Eleison’s post sounds something like “well, I think both of these people are innocent. But if you think you have to vote for them, go ahead. I’ll wash my hands” of the affair."
I’m afraid I don’t understand this. I don’t think that I ever expressed a belief that either you or Captain Klutz were not cultists – I just found the arguments that had been made against you unconvincing. A lack of good evidence that you’re a cultist, Diggit, doesn’t prove that you’re town.
If anything, I wonder a bit about your dogged pursuit of the Crusader’s killers since your return to the game. This single-minded and, IMHO, ill-founded fascination seems to be causing many to dismiss and overlook you. I wonder if that might not be your intent. By remaining so focused on one issue, you can avoid commenting on, and taking a stand on, other things, which might lead to folks beginning to take a closer look at you.
Wait a minute now… I may still be a little behind on all this, so correct me if I’m wrong, but:
Wasn’t the Crusader killed by the Cultists? And aren’t the Cultists the ones we’re supposed to be looking for? So, isn’t the point supposed to be for us to be “doggedly pursuing” the Crusader’s killers?
:smack: I wasn’t going to take a look at Hal because I think he’s a Cultist, I’m going to take a closer look at Hal because I think he’s Crazy. Where’s that darn embarrassed smile at?
I’ll take a shot at answering what I perceive to be your questions, but if you feel that there’s something I’m not addressing, please let me know. I thought that I had previously addressed most of your points in post #2350.
Late in the day because, frankly, I had a hard time deciding whom to vote for yesterday. In the end, I voted largely based on the strength of sachertorte’s and amrussell’s arguments. I disagree that you were the second easiest target, though – if I were scum, I think I would have voted for DiggitCamara, for reasons I outlined in the post linked above. I probably did make a mistake in not listing all of the various reasons that had been previously outlined when I voted, but at the time, I was thinking that to rehash points that had already been made would have been to overstate the confidence I had in my vote.
You’re right that I was trying to swing the vote toward you. Isn’t that we all do when we vote? I thought you were more likely to be scum than Klutz.
My theory grew from/was based on/was shamelessly stolen from storyteller’s description of his and his fellow scum’s behavior during M2.
Basically, it rests on the premise that scum know who is and who isn’t scum. And can, therefore:
Distance themselves from votes against townies (statements like “well, (s)he doesn’t seem to be scummy to me”, “I don’t think (s)he’s scum”, etc.)
Use that same method to cozy up to one or more citizens; it’s in most persons nature to trust those who help you when you’re under attack
Create apparent cover. If you “tried” to save or, at worst, distanced yourself from votes against proven townies (because they are dead) you can use that in the long run to defend yourself.
In this case (in my eyes, at least), Kyrie distanced himself from two possible victims. Klutz because he was clearly headed for the dunk. Me, because many people declared they were deciding between me and Klutz.
