Mafia V: The Cult of Sekham

Yeah, I saw that now and I must have when I first started but I guess somewhere along the way I took what I read for the Priest and it’s counterpart to stand for all four. :smack:

By the way, where you been? If possible, I’d like to see more from you too. Thoughts and opinions and such?

No! Why would you post this without checking?

The Appentice **can **be recruited!

I’ve decided to
Vote Mtgman for his highly analytical and highly passive methodology suggested in #649. That’s the best I’ve got at this time.

Once I post this, I’ll see if I can get a quick post count report.

Sorry. I’m slow.

If there’s a quick way to ask the board software who’s posted how many times in a thread, I’d like to know what it is.

Go to the MPSIMS main page. Next to the title of this thread there is the total number of posts in it (784 at last glance, and we’re not even through the first Day. Click on that number, and a pop-up window will appear listing total participation.

  • More from me later… I feel weird holding on to a vote for a guy who doesn’t appear to be around to defend himself, but on the other hand, he hasn’t defended himself, but on the third hand, I feel like there might be better candidates, but on the fourth hand…

Where are you, (former) Captain Swine?

I’m unable to post during the working day (say 8am to between 5pm and 6pm BST) Monday to Thursday and 8am-2pm Friday.

Unfortunately I’ve been really dozy the last couple of nights, and nearly fell asleep in my chair 2-3 times before finally giving up and going to bed without posting (which I regretted, but did I feel better this morning).

I’m currently working through the thread again, and was reading post 448 when I stopped to read the new post. I reckon I’ll be able to vote sometime before mid-afternoon tomorrow.

Speaking of votes and since I’m posting, Autolycus I can’t find when you unvoted NAF before voting AzT. Did I just miss it?

On preview, Scuba_Ben go to the MPSIMS page and click on the number of posts made in this thread.

That was posted about a page or two upthread. Go to the MPSIMS page, and click on the number next to the thread, it will give you a break down of the posters and how many posts they’ve made.

In case anyone doesn’t know, the Apprentice CAN be recruited.

From my point of view, which is admittedly inconsistent with the rest of the town, the alchemist doesn’t seem all that handy to me. Unless the Alchemist can somehow know who is scum, then we can’t really use him to the town’s advantage.

Random blocking has the chance of blocking town. Worse, the alchemist’s blocking is more likely to block the Good 4. The chance of blocking scum is one fourth that. (There are N scum and a 0.75*1/N chance of block if one of the N is selected.) What I don’t know is the relative value of the big 4 versus the scum’s night action.
I think Oracle vs scum is about even money both in probability of block and value to the town.

Also, is the role of alchemist verifiable? How can we know someone claiming to be the Alchemist really is the alchemist? According to the rules, (and I checked) the alchemist investigates as ‘non-believer’.

Wait, so if you click on the number of posts next to the thread title, the Apprentice gets recruited? Crap!

Nairu be praised, my apologies. I forgot to unvote before changing my vote. so, for the record, Unvote NAF.

For twenty minutes and only at the bottom of…OW! Hey! Knock That Off! OW!

As I did with SnakesCatLady back on page 11, I’d ask you to quote a post you felt was an example of me saying those who disagree with me are “incablable of understanding” my ideas. If I’ve mischaracterized your position I don’t see how. I’ve posted several times with direct quotes, from you, containing questions about how a unified town strategy would work and my attempts to answer those questions. Anyone who has read the posts I refer to(and you know you’re one of them if you had to refill your asprin bottle afterwards) can see that. So I said you are frustrated with me for meta-gaming, yet you have engaged me on the topic with questions numerous times. I find it amusing that I’ve been “in second place [on your dunking list] with a bullet” since post 582 on page 12 and I first used any type of negative descriptor of your behavior in post 757 on page 16. If I were overly defensive what explains my more than a full day delay to your accusation? And if you’re not defensive, why did you react so strongly to my characterization of your posts as “annoying” so rapidly?

Truce? With your FOS pointed at my head? While I’m “number two with a bullet”? When you “think there’s a fair chance [you]'ll end up voting for [me or sachertorte]in the end”? I don’t see why.

Enjoy,
Steven

Thank you for pointing that out, I have both on my record as well.

ETA: Okay… I’ll keep your vote for ArizonaTeach, but in the future, I’ll simply void the newer vote.

I greatly appreciate the triple-simulpost. I had missed the technique when it was posted a few pages back.

And after all that, I wound up casting my vote for someone who wasn’t a vote leader. At least I didn’t join a bandwagon.

Ooops, I forgot about the Crusader. There are 5 town roles that could be blocked.

I was asked if more than one Nightkill occurs, will I give an explanation as to how they were killed.

Traditionally speaking, we normally do not provide any sort of information about what deaths were commited by whom. While I gave consideration to changing this, I’ve ultimately decided it makes the most sense to leave the Night kills undifferentiable.

Thus, while I will use certain text to color the death so it’s not “PlayerX and PlayerY are both dead”, there is not intended to be any information pertaining to the identity of the killer in it. Thus, even if there is a single kill tonight, there will be no way to explicitly determine from my report the identity of the killer; instead, I leave you to determine that from the timing and the identity of the target.

Is this going to start a whole big discussion about that role now? Heh, no thanks.
All I was saying is just that, even though it has a chance to block other things for town and isn’t ever TOO MUCH of a great thing, at least it’s a role that is not cultist-aligned.

Well that’s just it. It’s not. There is no way of knowing. Sucks to be the alchemist, I guess. However it also sucks for true town who may lynch him/her and be down one more teamate in their chance/possiblity to win. We don’t NEED the Alchemist, true. But they certainly don’t hinder pro-good either (unless you see as those blocks being a hinderance–they could be, but thing is…the Alchemist wins with town or Non-believers. So either way, s/he’ll be trying to throw chinks into the Cultists armor and plans as well and trying to actively eliminate them–therefore I don’t see how it’s a completely useless or overly bad role for the town side).

Wow, I guess that explains it then, I guess. I do hope of seeing more from you when you can, though.
