No, I don’t think we have more than one at the most – I’m about 99% sure that Clockwork Jackal wasn’t doing anything of the sort, because I can’t see someone fictionalizing her reason for leaving the game. All I’m saying is that I think there’s a slightly higher chance that either Nava or AZTeach is scum than that any other randomly chosen player is scum right now, because I can think of two plausible reasons why scum might be more likely to bow out of the game early than anybody else, one innocent and one distinctly Machiavellian. And in the absence of any other clues whatsoever, I’m going to try voting with that slightly higher chance.
While I can see why a player might decide to take that tact, it falls apart for me in one key area. Let’s say the scum eventually win – the person who made that move on Day One will be at best a minor footnote in the victory. The crowd would be much more likely to say “Oh yeah, I forgot he was in the game early on” than “Hey, how about that brilliant move by so-n-so”.
You know, I kind of get what you’re saying with this, but I’d like to suggest a counter-possibility.
It has seemed to me that it is actually more time-consuming to be town than to be scum. As uninformed town, you really have to read everything, or near enough, to maximize your chances of locating scum. As scum, you can browse, skip over conversations that don’t seem valuable to you - you certainly don’t have to close-read every single post in an effort to locate the bad guys, since you know who the bad guys are.
Just a theory, and I have no idea its validity, but there it is.
I am a bit uncomfortable with how fast the wagon against **Mtgman ** has grown, but I have to look at the time of day and how much longer there is until the deadline, and well, it’s kind of now or never, huh? That said, I still feel that **Mtgman ** is the best choice for today, so will place my vote there and hope it is right.

I was away all of yesterday. It looks like quite the bandwagon has formed. It doesn’t really matter whom I vote for at this point except to help leave a paper trail for later review by fellow townies. I encourage any other townies who have an old “useless” vote to take a moment (there’s not really time toDay, but in the future) to switch their vote to their 2nd choice – with stated reasons, as always – to help us pick through the noise later on (since, I’m guessing, many people will just look for those posts with votes.)

Others have voiced the points I make below (and some other points, like SCL’s over-defensiveness), but since SCL has claimed I have twisted her words (with I don’t think I have and which I do not intend to do), I’ll be more careful by quoting:
Yes, I want you to repeat things. Yes, I want to make the thread longer. I have no idea what your thoughts are regarding any of the dusts-ups we’ve seen (and we’ve seen a lot of them.) I have no information on you at all except that I know you’re reading the thread carefully. I’ve never played as scum, but that seems like a sound scum approach (and others have said the same.) In the off chance that you’re a townie, you aren’t being useful to the town if you aren’t putting your thoughts out there.
While a player acting like scum makes for a good vote, it’s Christmas (err… Nairumas) when there’s a player who is acting like scum and who isn’t doing much to help town (in the case that the scum-read was wrong). That’s part of why I can move my vote off someone like Idle Thoughts – I don’t trust him, but he’s definitely going to give the town plenty to chew on, so I can just be sure to watch his actions and opinions tomorrow and beyond.
I wouldn’t worry too much about what I’m saying, since my vote doesn’t get you dunked and since this post will go poof in the Night and be forgotten. But, how are you choosing the members of your friend/foe lists if not through their (content-filled) posts. If you were townie, you would (I would think) be eager to help your fellow townies making their own lists by voicing your opinions, even if they overlap with others’ opinions.

It was a long day. The paranoia that had begun the day only grew as fingers were pointed at virtually every town member. A glimmer of hope lasted for a few moments as townsfolk mentioned rumors of a Priest from a neighboring village; another townfolk mentioned the existence of a possible Oracle. Quickly discussion was turned away from the task at hand and toward discovering these townfolk; surely they would be invaluable to the search. But quickly, a voice of reason settled over the town as they realized they would only make the Cultists’ task easier at hand.
In time, as the town settled upon their task again, one of those voices came under great suspicion and, ultimately, condemnation. His name was Mtgman. Quickly he was ceased by the citizens, shackled, and led up the steps to the pool of Nairu’s Blessed Waters. A silent prayer was said among the masses and he was pushed in…
Alas, he did NOT sink; he remained upon the surface of the water. The spirits of the citizens rose, as he was dragged in quiet contemplation from the pool to the makeshift stake. He glared quietly through the crowd as he was tied up and a fire was kindled beneath his feet. Just as the fire began to consume his flesh, he said in stated calmness, “Your faith shall consume you all; Nairuvians and Sekhamites alike.”
Mtgman, a Non-Believer has been burned at the stake.
The Night will end at 4:15 PM on Tuesday, or when all Night instructions have been received.
