Fare well Mtgman. I hope you find peace in the afterlife.
I’ll have some of whatever rotgut is in the green bottle, thanks.

[off-game ponderings]I just realized that I’ll actually be forced to have a life during Nights so I’m not here constantly refreshing the page and wearing my index finger out. :([/off-game ponderings]
Good on ya, Mtgman.
::Wanders off to not-so-secret-anymore bar::
Oy vey. One Day, nineteen pages, and when I log back on we’ve toasted a semi-innocent man. (Cult would have been better, believer would have been worse. Or am I confused? I guess we can’t discuss that until toMorrow.)
Well, I’ll hoist a small libation to the memory of a non-cultist, anyway.
Okay, Im at work now so I can resume playing. Time to catch up lots of posts and find out who received the swimming lesson.
We would be in night by now, so we are probably in the bar - is it my round yet?
Make mine vodka, straight up.
Alas, poor Mtgman, we hardly knew ye.
MtgMan will have plenty of time for his plans in Hell, where all nonbelievers go to rot for eternity. Amen!
Good luck everyone. I’ll bring some snacks to the forbidden thread.
Enjoy,
Steven
Sorry, I didn’t see this until after the Day was over. I do know there’s a few people who didn’t seem to be around, but there was certainly enough people participating to keep the discussion going. However, I will take the opportunity of the Night (if it lasts long enough) to poke a few players and find a replacement for ArizonaTeach.
To you, and others who are wondering about the subs. This is DEFINITELY meta-gaming. I can assure you that all of the people who have subbed out had legitimate real-life reasons to do so. Further, it is of my opinion that deliberately using meta-gaming tactics as part of the game is against the spirit of the game. Hence, if I had reason to believe someone were subbing out to “save their team” versus “not having the time/energy to continue” I would opt for a mod-kill instead of a substitution because it is unfair to the incoming player.
While I won’t enforce any kind of “no meta-gaming” rule, as it is stuff that we can’t deny we think and is part of our suspicions regardless. However, I do think that allowing a twist of the rules for substitutions “at will” could break the game; hence, I will not allow it.
Speaking of “break the game”, it’s sort of a combination of the two. For instance, it can refer to a character/role that is unfairly powered to the point that he has an unfair advantage (eg, “Hunters are broken” WOW-speak). Similarly, it can refer to loop-holes or unintended consequences of certain rule applications (eg, combinations in Magic: The Gathering that led to infinite damage cycles, or so I’ve heard, I’ve never played it). In the case where I’ve been using it here, it’s more in reference to the latter definition of using loopholes to give one team an unintended “break the game wide open” advantage.

Also, I received an excellent suggestion about the power roles and saving their musings for posterity. I would have liked to have set up a board for each role to post what they’re thinking and why they chose things, but that’s too much for me to keep track of. Similarly, I’d make separate forums on the mafia board, but since you can see who the members are… it would break the game.
So, here’s my thoughts. I’ll make a seperate forum on the mafia board that’s password protected, and I’ll paste all of the PMs and e-mails I receive from power roles about their musings and choices. This way, it will all be there, no one will know who the mafia are, and the mafia won’t know who they are. Then, when I open the boards at the end, everyone can read everything.
I’m back. Sorry for the lapse yesterday, but at least I had a vote in. I see y’all tried your hand at that whole consensus thing…maybe practice makes perfect?
Sorry I didn’t post these two days - I don’t usually come in to the boards on the weekend and didn’t remember I was waiting to see if I subbed in.
Do we hold funerals for non-believers?
serves drinks to anybody asking for them - what? someone has to be the bartender Just remember, no fruit of the vine. Vodka and beer and stuff like that are ok, though.
You mean I can’t have any of this “wine in front of me” that people keep talking about? Hmmph.
Crap! Sorry Mtgman. :::wanders off in search of the secret bar:::
The Secret Role is Bartender?! Maybe there are two secret roles that balance each other out… Bartender and Town Drunk.
I’ll have a pint of your finest Ale. In fact, a round for all the Believers of Nairu! [watches who doesn’t drink]
I can offer you apple wine, strawberry wine, blackberry wine, vodka, whisky, beer… just no fermented grape.
As you well know, grape is sacred to Nairu and thus reserved for her priests only.
:: grumbles :: But the guy who sold me the priest’s driver’s license in the back alley TOLD me it would work! :: grabs strip of cardboard :: Look, I even have the collar!
… No? Oh well. Pint of the blackberry mead if you please.
