Man, I’m huuuuungry.
So, it turns out I’m dead. Is this heaven?
In the rules, I thought storyteller said posting PMs was OK. Hope I didn’t do anything in poor form.
Yeah, I misplayed that. I had hoped that my getting that out there early, there could be a more open exchange of thoughts on what that info told the good guys. Rookie mistake I guess. I’ll know for next time…
I haven’t reread the rules so I don’t remember what was specifically verboten but generally, quoting PMs is kosher, posting screenshots are not. I do remember that story posted sample PMs which usually means they don’t mind quoting since any quoted PM could have been pulled from the samples.
He may have allowed that in the game, I can’t remember. I’m just going by my own experiences in other games I’ve played. So yeah, don’t worry about it.
No disrespect Bayard.
I won’t hold a grudge if you’ll forget that little misunderstanding where I voted to lynch you. Sorry 'bout that chief.
Done deal, Bay.
Plumpudding’s claim accomplishes exactly one thing: It frees me to say that I think that Thing Fish’s analysis is sound. The picture he paints is not one I would expect of an experienced wolf, but Plumpudding is a newbie, isn’t he?
It doesn’t really accomplish anything in the game, though, because there’s only one Town power role left anyway, so (nearly) everyone now is either a vanilla, or is going to say that they’re vanilla.
Oh, and I am actually impressed by how much discussion Town did do yesterDay, even with the lynch all sewn up. Good job, guys.
I take the opposite point of view from Diggitcamara. I think precambrianmollusk’s skepticism about Bayard’s claim is more indicative of Town than Scum. Scum would know Bayard’s claim is legitimate and knowingly opposing Bayard seems like a bad idea for scum. However, for Town, it makes perfect sense to be a little paranoid at taking Bayard’s claim. That paranoia doesn’t hold up to scrutiny, but that doesn’t make precambrianmollusk scum. Quite the opposite, I lean more town on precambrianmollusk.
To be honest, I think Diggit looks kinda scummy for it.
Oh! I completely overlooked that possibility. It does seem like an opportunistic attack doesn’t it?
In response to sangfroid’s post 1137, the Detective investigating the Alpha is indeed a catastrophic event for Town, when it happens, to the point that it’ll almost always guarantee a Town loss. But there’s not much that Town can do about it: The only alternative is to ignore the Detective’s results, and that will significantly handicap the Town in the far more likely case that the results are accurate. The highest chance of victory, overall, comes from assuming that the results are accurate, so that’s what Town should do, and just accept that that “highest chance” isn’t as high as they’d like.
That said, I have heard of some players, as Alpha, deliberately trying to call attention to themselves, in the hope of being investigated. It’s a risky tactic, of course: Call too much attention, and you’ll just be lynched directly. But it does happen occasionally.
Biotop has a lot of posts there containing lines like “Why would a Wolf do that?”, and ending with “Verdict: Town”. The second is the answer to the first. Wolves can and will do things that, at first order, help Town and hurt Wolves, because doing such things will make people think they’re more Townie.
Hmm, that tie did not go in my favor.
That is weird. Did you PM storyteller0910and ask to not use the tie break rule? Or am I misunderstanding how the new tie breaker works?
The new tie breaker works just like the old one did, but with one addition: Whoever would be the tie breaking vote (whether 1st mason, Alpha, etc), could PM Story and ask that the tie be random instead. In this case it means that the 1st mason was one of the people voting for me. I was hoping that the Mason was voting for someone else, in which case, my vote would have won out and sangfroid would have been lynched.
Nevermind, I see my mistake now. I thought Chronos was the first mason. Turns out the first mason is still alive.
Now, that is a tremendous stroke of luck. Town was getting close to the point of being forced to vote for Sario: The absent player is either Town or Scum, and if they’re Town, it quickly becomes impossible for Town to win, because the Scum can pull a last-minute vote switch without fear of retaliation. If you can’t win if the absent player is Town, then you’re forced to assume that they’re Scum, no matter what the evidence.
With him actually being Scum, though, there’s now some hope, especially with him being the Alpha, as that means that TexCat is now completely unambiguously confirmed.
The downside, of course, is that the Scum now have a very short list of possible First Masons. Though they’re likely to go after the now-confirmed TexCat before worrying about that.
Oh, and my apologies to TexCat for my Day 1 attack on her.
