What’s the deal with mail order brides? Do any of you have first hand experience with them? How is that deal supposed to work, and why would someone want to be (much less marry) one. This is just something i’ve always wondered and never thought to ask about until tonite when i heard a mention of them on tv. Thanks in advance…

Simple economics. Lonely, socially unattractive (physically, behaviorally or possibly both) males with one of the most valuable commodities in the world ,US citizenship and a reasonably good job in one of the most powerful economies on the planet, trade the promise of a middle class lifestyle and US citizenship to women desperate to obtain these commodities.
I had a flatmate once whose father had taken a mail order bride. astro pretty much nailed it. My friend’s father was a geeky, unattractive, kind of slimey guy who basically just wanted a woman to cook for him, clean his house and suck his dick. His bride was from a poor Filipino village and was pretty much going to spend her life doing that anyway - only this way she was doing it in a First World country, and eventually she’d be able to bring her family over.
The whole thing was really pretty sad.
