This news comes a little late for us as we’ve gone through two flats of Authority cans this past week or so. I’ll throw away the four remaining cans, of course, and lord knows, my demons do not look in any way ill. I honestly don’t know what to do at this point. It’s apparent from the list of brands affected that they all seem to use the same suppliers. I’d switch to Science Diet or another brand, but what’s the guarantee it won’t be that brand having a recall next month. Sheesh.
I feed my dog a food that is not on that list, but we ran out two days ago and I went to the corner store to get something to get her through until I could get to the pet store.
Of course I had to pick up one of the recalled kinds :smack:
It’s useful having it in MPSIMS, too. I’da said it was more a MPSIMS-y thing than a IMHO-y thing, anyway.
But, wow, you talk about your major PITA. And it serves to underscore just how few manufacturers of pet food there really are out there. Basically all those hog penises and chicken feet are going to the same factory, just coming out with different labels pasted on them.
Here is the FDA press release. Note that it only concerns “cuts and gravy” format wet foods, and that the affected animals exhibited specific symptoms. At this point, no causal link between the food and the illnesses has been found.
I saw the press release, but I didn’t see that list of brands. I didn’t think I had anything to worry about (we usually feed them Pro Plan and Purina brands) but it’s good to know specifically which ones are involved.
