you mispelled “Iran and Saudi Arabia”
USA is the most powerful, most influential country. People around the world will know through such protests that Americans hate Sharia. You as a citizen should support (atleast in spirit) a good cause. Sharia = Cancer. Islamists want to impose it whereever they can.
Only if the protests were actually about the details and knowledge of Sharia, AND if the proteters outnumbered the people that showed up to counter them. Neither of which happened.
Is that what they’ll know? Article quote: “… sponsored by a group known for aggressively criticizing Islam”. Redneck organizer quote: “We want to send a message to Muslims that they are not welcome in our communities … that they’re not welcome in our nation and, of course, endgame, on our planet.” It’s not about Sharia, it’s about bigotry and hate.
Actually, the protesters, the fact that they can’t back up any of their claims, and their often hilariously misspelled signs discredit everyone associated with it.
Again, please explain how Sharia Law is even possible in the United States. If you can produce a credible path to this happening, we might listen. But you can’t, so anti-Sharia protests are just ignorant people protesting something they fear and don’t understand.
1400 years ago, the Quran laid down the law that daughters share of an estate was 1/2 of the sons. Daughters are legally entitled to inherit property. Furthermore, the women kept legal title their property when they married.
Was there ever such a thing in the legal structure of the law of Hammurabi, Judaic, Roman, or Napoleonic codes? I doubt it.
This is not news to that person, although he tries to hide his intent in blandness.
It is a point that confuses the bigots. No change of the woman’s name, the retention of the property as separete, there is no common property idea or properly the husband’s hand on it. (although the Urfi abuses undermine) - the dowery also by law properly the asset of the wife with no right of the husban over it.
However, it is necessary to say that unfortunately over the centuries the Quranic protections and priincipals were eroded by Urfi practice and by male bigotry in building intepretations up to the sequestering practices of the Wahhabi.
But there is in the Quran an approach that is against the stupid Wahhabi ideas.
(bolding added)
I think this message needs to spread more widely. Would it be fair, or would it be an exaggeration, to say that the problems with women’s rights, where such problems exist in primarily-Muslim countries, stem less from Islam than from the longstanding underlying pre-Islam patriarchal cultures?
Maybe. I am not a historian. It is certainly the case there are the strong differences in the way these things are expressed. The practice of the Berber regions with the ancient women leadership traditions is certainly not the same as the Gulf or the Pakistan.
I am sure there is great complexity in this.
Sharia Law is against humanity. Sharia law is cancer, Sharia law is poison, and sadly, Sharia law is relevant in this world as it is tried to be enforced at several places in the world by Islamists.
Ok, some protesters (many protesters) will wrongly target Muslims here instead of targeting Islam and Sharia. But no one can oppose the idea of ‘March against Sharia’.
Do you even know what Sharia law IS dude?
Challenge accepted.
All but a couple people in this thread are against the idea of a March against Sharia.
Because these guys are scared that Muslims are secretly horrible people trying to change teh law for them.
Wahhabism is to Islam what Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell are to Christianity.
It’s already happening in Britain and probably in the US.
Muslim communities are closed societies. They bring their legal disputes to the Sharia courts.

They estimate over a hundred young girls have been genitally mutilated in Michigan.
I sure as hell don’t want this barbarism in my state.
You do know there’s a federal law against it right? https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/116
And in the US, they’re perfectly entitled to do so. That’s the free exercise of their religion, same as a Christian following the ten commandments or a Jew keeping kosher. But because they choose to obey the edicts of Sharia courts does not in any way give those courts legal standing, nor give them power over anyone who doesn’t choose to be subject to them.
The Constitution is pretty clear on allowing people to choose to exercise their religion freely. Nobody’s trying to impose it on you, and even for those choosing to honor it, the Sharia courts can’t impose penalties that would violate US law, anyway. If Sharia courts tried to stone someone to death, the hand of US Justice would fall on them swiftly and harshly.
What does this have to do with Sharia law? Are you under the mistaken impression that there is some sort of court proceeding to authorize genital mutilation?
The people observing genital mutilation are Muslims. It’s part of the attitude that women are the property of men and subservient. Women can’t be trusted to share company with men they aren’t related too. They have to cover themselves. They can’t travel alone outside the home. Even pleasure from sex is forbidden.
These attitudes are absolutely abhorrent to Western culture. Trapping a women into this kind of oppressive culture inside the US or other Western country is sickening.
It could be happening in your city and you’d never know it. Unless the women grew desperate enough to call the police.
