Marriage, Mexican Style - A Destination Wedding MMP

Sandwiches with Au Jew?

Yeah, I was doing the MMP at Mellophant for a while, but it seemed to die.

I’m having a boring week. I’m more or less housebound, cuz my dad has my car (I may have mentioned that earlier…) The job interview went fine, but I’m not confident I’ll get it. I really don’t feel like doing anything today, but I’ve done a load of laundry, cleaned the fridge (y’know, wiping down all the shelves and stuff), and did a bit of touch up vacuuming in the kitchen. And I’m going to taijitsu tonight.

GRRRRRRRRR. Microsoft sucks sometimes. I’m trying to insert a link into a Word doc. I paste the link into the “insert link” window, but it remembers what I put in there the last time I pasted. So it “helps” by adding to the link I pasted. NO! DO NOT ADD TO THE LINK I PASTE. If I copy and paste something, that’s what I want. Not what I put in there last time. That function SUCKS. ARGH!

I’m having quiche for dinner too, FCM. And trying to figure out what I need to do tonight. Christmas cards. Clean up. Laundry. More fridge stuff. Cookie stuff.

Heh. Translation is fun, isn’t it, Nava? Hope everything went well.

Off to do stuff.

GT

So… We’ve been standing around doing nothing for quite some time and for Thursday and Friday we have 4 lunches tomorrow, a dinner party in the evening, 5 Ho Ho cakes, 9 pumpkin rolls, and several dozen iced gingerbread cookies. :D:smack:

Tonight I’ve been working on some of the stuff and am now taking a little break.

Ruble, I’ve been wanting to get back to your comment about The Ship on the Lincoln Highway… Do you mean that you were ***in the ship ***in the seventies?? :faints dead away:

:revives and searches for pictures to share:

This is how geeky I am about Grand View Point. I take pictures of the poor little gas station every time I go back. And throughout my house you can see random pieces of pale pink tile and shards of dinnerware that I’ve dug out of the debris. I believe there’s probably some rusty nails around here somewhere too. :o I actually only got to see the ship in person twice, but only just from the outside. As a matter of fact, I drove by there something like 9 days before it was destroyed and didn’t stop because I figured I’d stop by on my next Lincoln Highway trip. :(:(:frowning:

If you have been inside, can you tell me about it if you don’t mind?

/end Lincoln Highway-Grand View Ship Hotel Geekery

BTW, I mentioned your Dopefest idea to TVMan and he thought it sounded like fun. Although, since he isn’t actually a Doper, at first he thought I was talking about something entirely different.:wink:

You had one of those today too? The rear-smooching quotient was especially high at the Southeast Altamont Hoteliers party–THE PRESIDENT of Hampton Inns was there. He gave us metal water bottles with starfish on them. It is a tribute to our maturity that we did not immediately start smacking each other with them.

I won a prize, as well: the “Most Committed To Succeed” award. Or as I’m calling it “Most Likely to Be Committed” or “Thank You For Being the Only Person at the Front Desk Who Works” award. I did not expect that. It was a pleasant surprise in an otherwise less-than-stellar week.

Hugs all around, I’m going to bed.

I declare the Holiday 2009 Bake-A-Thon officially over! Aside from the weekend’s biscotti, I ended up making a batch of mint-chocolate crackle cookies to give out as gifts for the non-biscotti folks, as well as a batch of eggnog mini cupcakes to bring to tomorrow’s pot luck lunch.

BTW, did I mention that we don’t get a holiday party this year? Second year in a row that the company has cancelled due to “budget constraints”. (I suppose I should be thankful they haven’t cancelled my job due to budget constraints, but it’s still a pisser) Anyway, we’re doing a big project-wide pot luck lunch instead, because that doesn’t cost the company anything. Wheee.

Sadly, no. Something to do with those toll-free numbers not being valid for Canuckistan or some silliness like that… they actually hide the numbers on some shows, to avoid the possibility of some silly Canuck attempting the impossible.

Anyway, I missed the show, so my inability to vote is a moot point.

As it happens, The Boy came home at a reasonable hour tonight, so we ended up watching the last two episodes of Dexter on OnDemand instead of whatever was on regular TV… some dumbass “friend” on Facebook already spoiled the big twist in a status update, and I didn’t want to run the risk of more dumbass “friends” blurting out any other important details before I had a chance to see for myself.

Note to self… watching Dexter before bedtime is not conducive to good sleep.

Sigh.

Congrats on the award, Spaz!

Survived work, Canes win, Gordie ate the replacement lights for the Christmas tree lights he ate in June.

Something bad is happening here right now and I’m not sure what to do about it. But think good thoughts for me that I’ll figure it out and that it will turn out to be no big deal.

Well then, I guess we can just disregard that last post. Everything is ok. More details to follow when this hellish day to be is farther along.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN

CutiePie I’m glad the badness went away and await the forthcomin’ tale.

We don’t do a big party at work. I’m glad for that because I don’t have to think up a reason not to go.

Ok, time to feed rumbly tummy and purtify for work.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Blurf.

Dudes, I got a Dell. My new laptop came yesterday, replacing the old Compaq I’ve had since 2003 that’s been slowly dying over the past 2 years. I should have the new one fully operational by Saturday.

Today is the company Christmas party, at noon. I anticipate many : burps :

Just coming up for air. Insanity.

Going down into the abyss again.

I has blurf. But I has coffee.

I did get some extra sleep last night though by going to bed earlier, so that’s good. Plus it’s almost the weekend. However, this weekend will be kicked off with a tooth yanking and followed up by chewing on gauze, knocking back pain killers and sucking up liquid nourishment. Yanking, knocking, chewing and sucking would almost sound kinky if it didn’t all revolve around pain.

Actually, it still sounds kinky.

I need winter boots. Especially since I’ll be going up to Smith’s Falls next weekend. That’s good and north, and I think they have forty feet of snow or something. Or maybe that was inches, I dunno; it’s a lot, and it’s icky and cold.

Mahna[sup]2[/sup] - That sucks that they cancelled the party. I guess I should feel fortunate that we’re still going ahead with hours. Or that I still have a job for that matter. (Mind you the nature of our business is somewhat recession-proof, and I’m fortunate that those of us in my department make up the absolute minimum we need for it to function, so I guess my luck was in getting in with this company.)

VBob - Dude, you got a… oh wait, you already did that joke. New toys are always fun though, s’long as you can transfer all your old stuff that you need over.

Pie Rut-roh. Fecal matter hitting the fan in your general vicinity is never a good thing. Hopefully it was just someone else screwing up.

Spaz Congrats on the Major Award[sup]tm[/sup]. It’s always nice to be recognized for your efforts, especially when your efforts end up carrying other lazy people.

Tyger - Roast Beef au Jew with Orange Jews? Now that’s Lunch.

Okay, enough. Must do some work.

Nah – we eat so much poultry here, I’m like a cat – I taste just like chicken!

Pie – glad all is well.

Spaz – congrats

It’s my Firday! Woo and hoo!!

On the last day of each of the three French classes (we had class three times a week, but each with a different teacher), we had to do some kind of work re. the environment and, for two of them, hand in a short essay. The Grammar teacher had lost mine, after grading it. She found it, and I’ve been able to pick it up.

Now if someone can explain to me what’s the meaning of a lot of “?”, a lot of “voc” and a “sens?” over my mention of “the Medical Revolution”, it might actually be helpful. The only one I can guess is that she doesn’t know what the Medical Revolution is and can’t figure it out.

I guess I’ll just go on trying to learn the verbs. At least I’ve verified that if I get a D in this course it’s NFD, so long as I do well in the rest (so far I am), it’s fine.

Dell was loathe to update the order status with the shipping information, so I had no official clue who was bringing it, although I suspected FedEx.

I was royally steamed last night, and in the call queue to chew on a Dell customer servce rep about this, when there was a knock on the back door. FedEx had my system. Happy happy joy joy and everything, but when I got back to the phone to chew on the CS person, they had answered the call and hung up because of the dead air. Therefore, I missed the opportunity to ask, “Dude, where the hell is my Dell?”

Now I’m off on a bigger rant because I got MS Office 2007 Home and Student, and I never noticed is doesn’t include Outlook. Foxtrot Yankee to Microsoft, and I’ll be replacing it with Thunderbird.

Well, human flesh is rumored to taste like pork. Make of that what you will; the jokes and <snerk>age kind of write themselves.

What in the sam hill are you doing going to Smith Falls, Mindy? While you’re at it, you may as well do a tour of other exquisite Canadian wintertime gems like Kapuskasing, Timmins and Thunder Bay. Brrrrrr.

I have two dozen eggnog mini cupcakes sitting on my desk. Hopefully I will have the willpower to avoid snarfing down the whole batch before the pot luck… they’re very very tempting.

Vundy, if human tastes like pork, then do smokers taste like ham and bacon?

Many Jews wouldn’t know whether this is true or not – having never eaten pork…

In Azerbaijan - so far so good. Headed back to Paris tomorrow AM - I am being picked up for the airport at 4.30…which means I have to be up at 3.30…which with the time difference is 12.30 Paris time!:eek:

I then have an afternoon of meetings in Paris til 7PM then a project to finish up for my boss before I leave…

This job…totally not worth it.
