If 16 year old Pakistani-American Kamala Khan talked about how Captain Marvel inspired her and other females to achieve great things(as she does in the comics) before the movie comes out, then I could see it helping.
It probably won’t be, but I’d like to see it be the Runaways.
Runaways has been in development for forever… I wouldn’t rule it out. They could have brought him on board in order to get it going for real.
If they wanted to go historical again like Agent Carter… Blue Marvel could work. Much like Truth it had a great premise that ended up not working in the details. Blue Marvel was the first superhero to pop up in the 60s in the Marvel Universe (remember the sliding time scale) and he wear a full body costume. When during a battle he’s revealed to be black, it causes an uproar. Kennedy convinces him that for the good of the civil rights cause, he needs to go into hiding. He ends up being a footnote in super hero history until his old nemesis reappears.
I guess…I don’t have any special knowledge, but that seems just a bit too similar for them to do it, though.
Except the only similarity between Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel is Kamala using Carol’s old name. Different powerset, different origin (don’t know if the MCU plans to do anything with the Inhumans, but something similar to her comic origin could be done), completely different appearance and personality.

Wouldn’t be a problem. She didn’t know she was an Inhuman right off the bat, anyway.
…the Inhumans* have already been introduced and are the major focus of Agents of Shield already.
*not the royal family, but still the concept is already in play.
