Mary Mary, quite contrary, a garden MMP

I have a lovely balcony garden which includes my “usual suspects” petunias, pansies and sugar snap peas, this year I added a baby hibiscus tree, a dwarf Meyer’s lemon tree, two sweet pepper plants, a bush zucchini and sweet peas.

The petunias and pansies always make the balcony smell so nice, (as long as the downstairs neighbor isn’t smoking a doob, which does happen on occasion :D). The two trees are young and I’ve only had the hibiscus tree a few months and the lemon tree for a few weeks, no blooms yet, so I have yet to experience any flower scents from those. Same with the pepper and zuccini plants.

The sweet peas (I have a cafe thread on this), they’re healthy, gorgeous, and tall, but not a single bloom. I’ve no idea what I did wrong with those, but I’m hoping maybe it’s just too early for flowers?

No matter, I love gardens. I hope I can have a little house some day with a decent yard in which to REALLY get busy.

Well dang. Last night my daughter and family got as far as Danger Bay in the Yukon Territory to find the road closed due to mud slides. With many travelers ahead of them there were no lodging vacancies to be found, until they found a guy willing to let them stay in a travel trailer he uses to board his seasonal employees. Apparently this is an old trailer in rough shape, and my little granddaughter looked at the interior, turned to her dad and asked plaintively “Is this our new home daddy?” Poor little girl! The road has been cleared at this point, but down the highway in Whitehorse the road is still closed, and very well may be closed for the next week. Adventures suck when they are happening, but they make for great stories.

So, I have a few more days to make sure that the house is child-proofed, but I was really hoping they would be here by the 12th, which is my mom’s 70th birthday.

Canvas Shoes it is a bit early for sweet pea blossoms, give them a month!

wiki that just sucks. Adventure is one thing but that is just ick. Hope they get there safely.

No, I will not go to the store for any of you. I only take people to the store if they are elderly and frail and apparently, live in the middle of nowhere. So There! :stuck_out_tongue:

Speakin’ of goin’ to the sto, I have to go to the sto. BOO! Tomorrow is our N.O.L. meetin’ with the Lutherans and we’re havin’ lasagna which I have yet to go buy. Specifically we are havin’ Stouffer’s lasagna cause it’s pretty good and easier than makin’ it. I should go ahead and buy it this evenin’ I suppose. I mean, if I wait until tomorrow mornin’ on my way to the church house with my luck there won’t be any to be had anywhere.

Life is so hard!

Swampy You did good takin Miss Becky to the store. I am sure JDD appreciates it.

Butters believe me, JDD knows he owes big for this. He is, or was, somewhat aggravated with his mother for not tellin’ him durin’ the week she needed to go grocery shop. Wachu gonna do with 'em though.

I have returned from lasagna shoppin’. I have a party size and a family size lasagna. That should be enough for everybody. I thought about just buyin’ the party size but I always worry if there’s enough so, true to my usual form, I probably bought too much.

I’s running bambilance tonight. One call so far, for a kid kicked in the mouth by his little brother, causing the king of all nosebleeds. No transport.

Right before duty time, I was at Wally*World doing a honeydo, and wound up helping out a little old lady that locked herself out of her car. Breaking in was unsuccessful, so I let her use my cell to call AAA for a locksmith.

OOOOH Saturday night ambulance stories, keep us posted and take pics of anything really good, yeah sorry I am that guy

Got a little pork thawing and then some fresh pasta sauce to cook it into, yes I am trying last night all over again, please wish me luck

That is all

JIM

Sauce is a simmering away, starting to fill the casa with the delicious smell of tomato, garlic, onion, basil etc. Have a bottle of Malbec and Netflix and chocolates

SPIDEY and SWAMPY come on down, no smoochin

Happy Saturday All

JIM

We are stuffed! Grilled tenderloin steaks with asparagus and spaghetti squash sautéed with onions, garlic and jalapeños. Delicious! We know how to live it up here.

Gonna crash soon as I have to head to Houston tomorrow for a meeting in San Antonio Monday

Deheathenization today followed by one of the lovliest weddings I’ve ever attended. And now, BED.
G’night!

It’s 2 AM and we’re back in the barn from our third cancelled call of the night. I can’t comment further, lest I jinx the rest of the shift.

No comprehension here. But, while out with Sweetie and a bunch of his old friends from high school, I realized that today (Sunday) is the 13th anniversary of when we started dating. We haven’t been together for 13 consecutive years because we did take that break from 2007-2009 but the realization that I met him in person (we met online 2 weeks before meeting in person) exactly 13 years ago makes me feel very very old. Happy, but old.

Good morning! I woke way too early again, and to keep from waking my sweetie, I figured I’d read my funnies and Dear Abby. It’s nice and cool out, so I opened a couple of windows, but today is supposed to be in the 90s, so they’ll be closed soon.

The buggie bites behind my knee still itch, but not as bad as yesterday. I’ve found that putting a cool washcloth against the bite/rash really feels good, but unless I’m lying face down, it’s difficult to keep said washcloth in place. Oh well.

Happy Anniversary, congo! hmmmmm, if being together 13 years makes you old, what does that make me after 28+ years of marriage?? :stuck_out_tongue: You whippersnapper!!

I may crawl back into bed after all. I’m still tired and I don’t want to go thru the day like a zombie.

Happy Sunday!

Download + mud = bluf…

{{{{BooFae}}}} - feeling any better today?
Yes I am up this early, but only because I went to sleep at a normal hour. Some buds’re comin’ over this afternoon to hang. Now that the house is presentable, I’d better take advantage of it before the clutter gremlins stop by again.

Dunno how a dupe posted. Never mind…

SSSSHHHHH! 90 minutes to go, and the score still stands at 1 no transport and 3 cancelled.

Good Mornin’ Y ‘all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out and hyooooomid. The predicted high is 85 and rain. It’s been rainin’ and apparently quite hard. I expect it shall continue throughout today and into tonight. That’s ok cause we need the rain.

I have lasagna bakin’ away as I post. I don’t smell it yet but when it does I imagine it shall awaken the slumberin’ beast who will be all confused about smellin’ lasagna instead of burly butcher bacon. I mean, how weird is it to wake up to the smell of lasagna first thing? Plus, he won’t even get to eat any of it, poor thing.

Happy anniversary shortdrum!

So, BBBobbio, WHAT’S HAPPENIN’ ON BAMBILANCE DUTY???!!!

Now I need more caffiene and should consider some brekkie. Deheathenization and lunch with Lutherans should make for an excitatin’ day.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Lasagna is baked. Well, almost baked. I shall finish it up at the church house. Also, it has occured to me that folks might want sump’n to drink. This is a needy bunch apparently. So, I shall go purtify and stop by the sto’ and buy some tea. Yes, ready made iced tea. Live with it.

Mornin’ everyone. I’m up fairly early, but I didn’t go to bed until around 2:45 this morning, so I’m not operating on much sleep.

We have to be up at my daughter’s place around noon today. She and her sweetie are having a BBQ to celebrate her college grad and wanted my husband, son and I to attend. I think my husband and I will be oldest people there; the rest are her friends, along one of her college professors and her husband. When she first told me she was hosting this, I asked if this was a family event where her grandparents would be welcome. She kind of hemmed and hawed, and finally I said, “Oh, I see; you want this to be a fun event”. She laughed and said yes, I had it exactly right.

I can’t blame her. Besides, that’s why we hosted Friday’s little get together. That way the grands could participate in some kind of celebration too.

I think it’s nice that my daughter wants my husband and I up there. She’s told me many of her friends that I haven’t met yet really want to meet us because they enjoy the banter we have back and forth on FB. My daughter has also told us we’re just lots of fun to be around anyway. IMHO, that’s a really high compliment, because it’s not often young folks want to hang with their parents. My son also told us last night all of his friends really like us and think we’re “cool”. That made me laugh.

Ah, my first cup of coffee is at hand. Caffeination can now commence.
