First season episode #25 ‘Physical fitness’.
Skipper needs to lose weight for a hilarious (?)reason.
Gilligan needs to gain weight and strength. Similiar reasons.
So MaryAnne being the nurturer she is make pies. Lots of pie.
Coconut cream
Banana cream.
Yum—my.
I said she made more banana cream pie.
Everyone else says coconut cream pie.
First off, who makes coconut cream pie? It’s just pudding with coconut in. Or actual creamed coconut?
I don’t think Maryanne had the facilities to “cream” coconut on the island.
I say banana cream pie would be much simpler.
But then there’s no Nilla wafers.
And they might’ve had a problem with milk products.
They might’ve had plantains which might be an issue.
Seems I better stick to fresh fruit on the island. No pie
(I looked Coconut cream pie was the most mentioned in Gilligan canon, ok, So I’m wrong!)
Yeah, if the Professor can make a washing machine, a lie detector, and a Geiger counter out of coconuts and bamboo, I don’t think he’d have trouble finding a way to cream coconut for Mary Ann’s pies.
The show must go on. After rescue Ginger couldn’t be assed to spend 5 more minutes doing a cameo on one of the MFTV movies.Even though her big movie aspirations were not happening.
MaryAnne went on the QVC.
The Howells were bankrupt living in Skippers guestroom. (That may be a lie)
The professor was working in a sketchy lab making medicine outta tropical plants. Probably paid for by drug lords.
Probably driven to depression when he learned that his wife, with whom he’d had three daughters, had re-married an architect, after he was presumed dead.
Seriously, Russell Johnson (the Professor) had a one-shot guest role on an episode of Lou Grant where he played a shady lawyer arranging illegal “adoptions” of babies to couples who didn’t qualify for a legal adoption.
MaryAnne, her QVC career, and a cook book barely paid the bills.
She was a sad creature. Sitting home watching reruns knowing the teen boys were drooling at her short shorts.
Pfft. Ginger got the notices but MaryAnne was bumped up from “and the rest” to better billing. An accomplishment on its own.
