Masking up (again) in the MMP

And yet, Monkey comes running when he hears the bathroom door creak just even a little bit.

He doesn’t even supervise me. (Or poopervise me!) He runs up next to me … and stares at the brush, on the floor next to the toilet, until I flush, at which point, he runs away.

It’s been said before, it’ll be said again: cats iz weird.

Yeah, that was generally our rule of thumb, too until just recently. We’re at this weird transition point where the kids are interested in X activity because their friends are doing it, but actually not as passionate about it as they are Y, which is causing me to tie myself in knots. After cross country and soccer end, they’re gonna have to choose because if they don’t choose, you’ll see me on Cops.

And nellie, that’s definitely something we’re working on!

shoe, when I read “poopervise,” I immediately started singing the “Eye of the Tiger” with poopervisor substituted. I get the impression Monkey is trying to avoid chores, like cleaning the toilet.

“Eye of the tiger, it’s the poo-per-vi-ser
It’s the thrill of the fight …
(etc)”

… did I parse your version correctly?

(There’s gonna be SO many pet owners singing to their pee/poo-visors soon, if this post takes off.
Someone, make a meme!)

I think we’ve all had it, even the fortunates like me who haven’t lost anyone to this. (vaccinated virtual hugs)

Princess Allie insists on accompanying me to the bathroom (doesn’t do it to DH). She’ll find something to play with, get petted, or hop into her box while I’m occupied.

Her predecessor, Felix, didn’t do that. In fact, he’d get irritated if someone walked into the bathroom while he was using his box. He had an impressive “Mom, do you MIND?” glare for such a sweet cat.

Cats are definitely weird people.

I mostly swear at mine.

I’m replacing my toaster tomorrow, whenever Da Jungle delivers the replacement. I got one with extra long slots because the standard slots aren’t long enough got the rye bread I buy. After tomorrow, that won’t be an issue!

Daughter has departed with her spawn. Quiet is settling over the homestead, except for the slosh of the dishwasher. I will sleep with Mel tonight, I wish I’d done laundry today - it’s supposed to rain tomorrow and I really don’t want to run the dryer. So I guess Saturday will be laundry day.

Yep, that’s the excitement hereabouts.

{{{ace}}}

wordy, it’s called perspective. Sometimes, once the glitter wears off our youth, we figure out what’s important to us.

Are you dissin’ my favorite cookie shoe?

Moooom, my niece got her son interested in toilet training when she was expecting her daughter. Something about big brothers not wearing diapers. He was fully trained a couple of months after his sister was born (~28 months old).

Nelson follows me into the bathroom. When I go when I get home from irk, he wants to be picked up. Other times, he’ll sit at my feet wanting his chin skritched. Still others (not so much now as when he was a puppy), he’ll bring something in for me play a game of fetch whilst I’m ensconced on the throne (living solo, I don’t close the door). He know when he has a captive audience. :stuck_out_tongue:

TGIT! (my Friday) Ready for a relaxing weekend.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

We’ve been trying to make Roxy understand that she has to use the potty to go to school. She’s just stubborn. She knows what she has to do - she just won’t do it. Drives us crazy!!

lol just imagine when shes 10-18…

Howdy Y’all! Gettin’ shorn and then havin’ N.O,L. out were the major activities of the day. We were so worn out it was all we could do to achieve nappage! We are definitely world class sloths!

I too am pissed off at all the anti-vax idiots. Seriously when I hear or read about any of ‘em gettin’ covid, I do not feel one ounce of sorry for them. I do, however, feel sorry for those who are vaccinated but get covid. At least the symptoms are somewhat lessened for the most part among the vaccinated. Also, since I am a bit immunocompromised, I shall query the doc about whether or not to get a booster. In my mind it’s a good idea, but I’ll talk with her first cause she listens and I trust her advice.

Evening all. Passed out some soccer stuff to needy coaches this afternoon, the rain has stopped but the soccer fields are closed (this time I understand why, what with all the rain this morning). Had to throw out most of a package of cheese slices and half a container of “I Can’t Believe It’s not Butter” because of expiration dates, so need to do a little resupply run tomorrow. More rain is due tonight and a 60% chance of more tomorrow, so soccer may not get played this weekend…drat it.

FCM, I need to do some browsing and get one of those toasters, as I occasionally enjoy that X-large rye bread with my BLT’s. Will do some looking.

OK, need to e-mail my 12U parents with the game schedule for the Fall. All y’all take care.

It was purrfect!

I’m going to sit in a corner now.

I’m finally making an appearance in this week’s thread! Woo hoo! I swear that I’ve read every single word: I’ve caught up each evening, and even started composing posts last night and the night befoe, but both times I wound up being too tired to write coherently so I discarded them.

I’ve been pretty slammed at work — 10- or 11-hour days all week — and I’ve been kind of grumpy because I haven’t had the time to really focus on any one thing and I can’t seem to get on top of my to-do list (which isn’t like me). And I’ve been really tired every evening. At some point this afternoon, though, I suddenly let go of the worst of the stress. I’m still behind, but maybe I finally crossed enough things off my list…or I stopped caring? I dunno. But I let myself stop working after only 8.5 hours, and also let myself order a pizza for dinner. Tomorrow will be pretty busy again, and I’m going to need to do some proposal work over the weekend, but I’m hoping I can hang onto this hard-won zen and I’m optimistic about getting caught up by COB (except the aforementioned proposal work).

In other news, today I finished the last insurance pre-requisite for my bariatric surgery! On Monday afternoon I’ll see the nurse practitioner, and after that appointment the final approval request will be submitted. I’ll still have some medical stuff to do, but the insurance approval ball will (finally) get rolling. I’m hoping Monday afternoon will also bring a more solid idea of when the surgery will happen; I’ve been thinking early-to-mid October.

I’m going to turn in, and do some reading. I’ll be more interactive in future posts.

So I’ve spent my vacation from heaving heavy objects…heaving heavy objects.
Made homemade chicken nuggets for dinner. And since there is no sauce residue for the cookies, somebody is shoving his food dish around the kitchen, slamming it into cabinets and appliances.

Me too. Filthy minds think alike.

Good job!

Boofae, your brother is a bit of a wanker.

It lives in Raleigh

Congrats on the insurance approval, Oopsie!

I’ll never un-see that. It will people my nightmares.

Nobody has yelled at me when I haven’t posted for a while, I think you are fine.

Thanks for the nice words about my pickled peppers. Hubs never notices if I’ve made pretty food. He’s honestly pretty-blind, but he accepts this and never questions me when I say “I want that, I think it will make X pretty.” It makes me happy when other folks notice that I’ve made things pretty, but it also makes me happy to see that hubs has already eaten a third of a jar.

I am totally NOT clicking on that link! Even if I didn’t trust nellie, I still wouldn’t do it!

After my very productive day yesterday, I thought I’d do something relaxing like getting my annual boob squishing and a couple of other things radiated.

When I woke up, hubs was gone and his side of the bed looked like a crime scene. His recliner was also covered with blood and he was sleeping in the guest room, covering that bed with blood.

Apparently, he had gotten up in the night to pee and get a drink of water, brushed his paper thin skin against a door knob and didn’t realize he was bleeding, so came back to bed. After he bled all over the bedding there, his COVID aches and pains made him move to the recliner. After an hour or so, he woke back up and moved to the guest room because he didn’t want to bother me.

We use more peroxide in a month than the average pre-school uses in a year. Take it from a pro, peroxide and cold water is the very best way to get blood out of fabric. It works like magic with the new microfibers.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 91 with rain this afternoon/evenin’. We shall see. I shall attend to some church janitor Junior Warden duties this mornin’. Beyond that I shall work on my sloth skills. I envision Majik Intartoobz pizza and sallit for sup.

Nameless eek! Glad you have a way to get out blood stains.

Oopsie yay on the medical insurance approval!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother I suppose I must purtify and once again don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. This will be four days in a row I must interact with the general public. The sheer horror!

Happy Firday Y’all!

You do realize that the “Best By” dates aren’t expirations but they define the period that the manufacturer guarantees the quality. It’s been my experience that most items are fine long after that date - a sniff test or a check for green fuzzies is all you need. Especially cheese - if it’s not growing mold or all dried out, it’s fine. I’ve cut moldy edges off blocks of cheese and used the rest without consequence.

Sorry - a bit of a sore point with me. One of my sisters has her kids convinced that the “Sell By” date indicates when you throw food away. They waste more perfectly good food… It’s generally very easy to determine if food has gone bad, even if it doesn’t pull a knife on you… :open_mouth:

Rainy day here. I thought about taking Roxy to the marine museum, but I don’t think I want to mess with that. It’s another long day - this afternoon is Open House at Daughter’s school, so she’ll be there till all parents clear out. Probably not a huge deal - they’ve only got 33 students in the whole school this year - that’s covering grades 6-12! I wonder at what point do they just decide they have to close…

Anyway, I may just break down and use the dryer just to get the laundry done today. Or not. Whatever happens is what happens.

I hope this COVID upsurge won’t screw things up for you. Our area seems to be doing lots better than other places (looking at you, Florida) but it’s so hard to predict. Positive thought coming your way!

From anyone else, this would be especially disturbing. :open_mouth: Then again, you don’t live near me, so… Seriously, tho, hope he’s OK.

Happy Firday!

Mornin’ everyone.

I had to go into the office yesterday to take care of some things there, but I am working from home again today.

Today is Polar’s surgery and I’ll be at the vet’s office by 7:00 a.m. I feel bad for him in many respects because the old Polar has been coming out more and more this last week. He even ate a whole bowl of dry kibble last night…unprompted and without anything to make it more attractive. I couldn’t believe it! It’s been so nice to see this and I now have to take him to the vet, which he hates. I can’t give Polar his meds this morning, nor can he have his morning biscuit. I also have to take away his water at 6:00. He’ll most likely have to stay the night at the vet and that will make him even more unhappy. But, I can’t let cancer spread, so we’re doing the right thing.

I really hope this works out and the surgery will be uncomplicated. I don’t like not having Polar in the house.

Well, I need to get a couple of things out of the way this morning before I leave for the vet.
