Turning around to show your back to your opponent is a surprisingly strong defense in boxing apparently.
Now that Floyd remembers that you’re supposed to punch your opponent in boxing he is clearly outclassing MxGregor. Couple rounds until McGregor is knocked out
MMA fights go a max of 25 minutes.
I’ll be not at all surprised if McGregor has to be excused from this in the 9th. I am sort of impressed he’s lasted this long, though that’s kind of Mayweather’s choice.
It may be in the financial interest of both fighters for this to last long. Every minute is a moneymaker. Ultimately, Mayweather has more reserve and stamina than the Irishman.
Well, McGregor is getting away with a lot, and will survive to the 10th. He needs a knockout to win and I don’t think he could blow out a candle right now.

Glad McGregor made his money and got out of this without being hurt bad.
I think Mayweather basically toyed with him and had no intention of hurting him. Connor did not look like a seasoned pro at all, Mayweather could have taken him out at will.
A whole bunch of bookies are going to sleep a lot better tonight than they did last night.
So, a curious math/statistics question. Mayweather might collect as much as $400 million out of this fight, from what I read. At roughly $200,000 per second (or however long the fight was,) would that make him on a per-second, per-minute basis, the most highly paid individual ever in human history?
(Ignoring things like lottery winners or huge inheritance heirs, where you can technically be “paid” in a split second)
Yeah, this was much different than a real fight. It was a very quick stop and Floyd seemed to barely fight until the 7-8 right. I don’t want to call it fixed but it’s clear that Floyd let it go longer to make it look like a fight.
I turned over to FS1 and everyone is bitching that the fight was stopped too soon. I thought McGregor was getting killed.
The real betting money here was on the stats, I think Mayweather had control over the round he took him out and may have passed that on to a few friends. Most of the seasoned boxing betters were looking and betting on a much earlier knockout. Same with rounds won. Connor was allowed to win far more rounds than he was really capable of winning. Not really a fixed fight but more of an exhibition match from what I saw.
McGregor shit talked himself into an order of magnitude more money than he made in his entire career up to this point. Good on him.

Respectfully, this is insane and creating racism where there is none. The Mayweather fans are boxing fans, the traditionalists who believe that boxing is a more “pure” form of sport fighting…mostly conservatives.
McGregor fans are MMA and IFC fans who like the “new” form of fighting…mostly the left.
I live in West Virginia and we have our share of racists. I have not heard one single racial comment about this fight and most of the people I know (who are white people) were rooting for Mayweather.
