BK Double Wopper with McDonald’s Fries.
BK has better burgers, but McD has better fries. The burger is more important than the fries! So it’s BK for me.
McDonald’s and I have different definitions of “Angus burger.” I prefer BK burgers by a long shot, and their shakes. McD’s has better fries. Winner: BK.
As has been noted above, quality control seems better at Mikey D’s. Also, sanitation seems markedly better. I’ve been in some pretty grimy BKs.
Gotta go with the King.
The burgers are better (chary goodness).
Mickey D’s fries are the only thing better than Burger King.
Don’t get me started on the McNuggets, how can people eat those?!
I greatly prefer a Double Whopper with light mayo to any burger at McDonalds, but McDonalds’ fries are far better. So, it’s a bit of a dilemma there.
Lately though, McD’s burgers have been getting saltier and saltier - approaching inedibly so. When we’re out and about and need a quick calorie fix, we go to different locations, so it’s not like one kid at the grill has a heavy hand with the salt.
I love Burger King, of course I’ll eat McDonalds, but if given the choice. I’m also one of the few that loves Burger King french fries better.
I’m entertained by Burger King’s marketing but no amount of humor can erase the BAD taste of their food. McDonald’s does the trick in a pinch, I really like their biscuits.
What little marketing cred they might have had with me was all erased by the appearance of the plastic-faced King. ::shudder:: ::twitch::
Arby’s. Keep the beef, skip the grease.
McDonald’s is the worst of the burger joints by far. BK isn’t the best, but I like it well enough. The only thing I ever crave from the clown is an occasional Big Mac, and it isn’t as good as some of the similar sandwiches that were around when McD’s brought it out in the 60’s.
BK has (IMO) much better burgers ***but only if ***they are fresh off the grill. A BK burger that has been sitting around is horrific as the tomato and lettuce degrade very rapidly under warming lights. McD burgers border on being synthetic food, but will hold longer under the warming lights whereas a BK burgers taste falls off a cliff extremely quickly.
McD fries are much better. BK fries are simply awful and have a weird bitter/metallic aftertaste.
I once talked with a potato supplier and he said the reason the BK fries are funky is the potato starch coating they apply so they will keep longer under the warming lights. McD fries (in good McDs )are trashed pretty quickly if unsold.
Fresh BK burger and fresh McD fries are the best of both worlds.
Another McDonald’s breakfast fan here, particularly the Sausage & Egg McGriddle.
McDonalds food is largely crafted around the tastes of children. Burger King actually makes a burger for people who can appreciate more flavors than salty and sweet. The fries at Burger King are enjoyable enough until they cool down and the space-age protein sheath they coat them in breaks down, reducing them to dessicated strips suddenly drained of flavor.
The Egg McMuffin is a cruel reminder of how much happier one would be if eating a Hardee’s biscuit instead.
Hmm. I now realize you didn’t specify who’d be paying. There are a few good things at McDonalds, and those are usually cheaper than the good things at Burger King. And I forgot about breakfast, which is uber-cheap.
If I have to pay myself, I might should’ve picked McDonald’s, as I am not doing that well in this current economic climate.
Also, am I the only one that loves BK fries? I haven’t really liked MD’s fries since the reformulation (that was supposed to remove the beef, but didn’t.) They’re only good if they’re really hot and fresh, and they usually aren’t by the time I get them.
I actually go to Jack in the Box these days. I picked BK for the poll, but the nearest BK isn’t convenient for me. And I officially refuse to eat at the local McD’s any more. A Jack in the Box opened up just a couple blocks from my house last year, and I’ve become a regular there. Not just because of the food, either. I’ve been in the restaurant business myself for 26 years, and I’ve watched the level of customer service and professionalism in local fast food restaurants steadily decline over that time. But this new JitB is something else entirely - it seems to be extremely well-run, the management did a great job with hiring. The staff is always friendly and professional, and the food quality is consistently good.
A couple months ago I got the munchies around 10:00PM and I drove down to Jack’s, not realizing they closed at 10:00. So I went to McD’s instead, where I ended up waiting more than 20 minutes for a freakin’ Double Quarter-Pounder while the crew chit-chatted with their friends who were loitering around the counter, and the rest of the staff was apparently focusing all their attention of the drive-thru (though that seems to be a corporate policy, which I think is asinine - keep the drive-thru customers moving even if you have to screw the walk-in customers to do it).
I voted BK because they have the whopper which used to be my favorite fast food burger. Now they have the angry whopper with “angry” sauce and jalapenos. That is my favorite now even though the “angry” sauce is pretty weak and I have to ask for extra jalapeno’s because if not they’ll only put like 3-4 jalapeno slices on it.
In their short-lived ideal state they are a triumph of better living through chemistry.
A few years back 2020 or another of those news shows collected health records of 1,000 restaurants from each of the top ten fast food chains. Taco Bell had the best record and Burger King was the worst. McDonalds was #3, iirc.
Two years ago one of my kid’s classmates did a science project in which he swabbed tables at the local fast food places and kept track of the variety of bacteria found at each location. He found Taco Bell to have the cleanest tables and BK was dirtiest.
Subway is my fave fast food (double bacon!) but I’ll go to McDs rather than BK.
