It appears that someone is pitting MeanOldLady for being mean.
Hey! I’m watching you…
I can neither confirm nor deny this rumor.
I wish I could cancel Christmas, or at the very least, cancel it any time that I need to go to the store during the two weeks prior. Every time I try to buy anything during the last minute rush, I’m like, “Come on, you guys! I’m just trying to buy some deodorant and get out. Buy your last minute presents online like the rest of us!”
Here’s the thing. Dorner was killing people and that was really bad. Murder in fact. People disapprove of murder. Duh.
But the LAPD is a cesspool of corruption and incompetence. Everyone in and around LA knows this. They switch police chiefs every few years and nothing changes. It was almost better when Daryl Gates was Chief for life and everybody knew what a bastard he was. How corrupt is the LAPD? Well, The Shield was loosely based on real events, and now with Dorner playing Shane Vandrill, it is less loosely.
Having the LAPD exposed for its corruption and incompetence is somewhat relieving.
Only thing MOL needs to explain is how I can be as awesomely mean as she is. I get to bitchy, but then fizzle out. How do I take it all the way to mean?
At least MeanOldLady has the grace to use a descriptive user name.
I’m afraid there’d be wide-spread support for my changing my name to Obnoximus. :smack: :o
And she is definitely not equal to the sum of a set of values divided by the number of values.
Pretty much all big city police forces are pits of corruption.
Edit to add that probably most of the smaller departments are too.
That would be like asking Picasso to explain to you how you can paint as awesomely as he does. MOL’s meanness is an art. A gift really and not something that can be taught. You just have to sit back and admire her talent.
And she’s definitely not an empire.
Heh. Glad you added small departments. The town I live in currently has no police force, as the chief was arrested for selling confiscated weapons and the remainder of the force was previously laid off.
No, **Crime Scene **is registered as a Guest so he/she still gets the ads even after logging on. There is really no benefit for a Guest to log on, except to post.
All a Guest gets from logging on is more cookies. If you install a web debugger like Fiddler you can watch the cookie traffic, which is considerably more than most people are probably aware of.
For instance, I just logged on to reply to kaylasdad99 and Fiddler has logged 538 traffic events in the last few minutes, most of it cookie traffic.
Not really true. Guests may have subscribed threads, which cannot be checked unless logged on. And then there is that little blue arrow (first unread) which works rather poorly unless you are logged on.
You are correct, that is an awesome benefit. But I don’t wish to derail this much over due spanking of **Mean Old Lady **with a side conversation.
What did you google on that the top hit for the Dorner shootout story was an SDMB pointless stuff thread?
MeanOldLady is my personal hero and savior. I worship at the alter to her caustic tongue. I revel in her unrivaled acerbity.
Google weights their results by the sites that they know that you visit.
ETA: MeanOldLady kicks puppies.
It wasn’t Dalmatian pups, by any chance…
My neighbors’ dogs are nasty pieces of work, or at the very least, annoying; they used to be cute puppies. Aileen Wuornos and Gary Ridgeway were probably cute babies early on. Fail to be deceived.
If you use Firefox with the Adblock add-on, you never see the ads whether or not you or logged on. [Martha Stewart]It’s a good thing.[/Martha Stewart]
