Whenever anyone says “surely” to me, I always respond with “Don’t call me Shirley” and they always laugh. Even people who have never seen the movie and don’t have a clue where the meme came from.

I believe that is a spoof of another movie, but I don’t which one.
The entire movie is a spoof of 1970’s disaster movies, and most directly a 1957 drama called Zero Hour. My husband and I once rented Zero Hour because we were curious and by god the parody was SO CLOSE! We had trouble not laughing though the entire drama because it kept hitting so close to the Airplane! lines (really vica versa).
