I started wearing rectangular tortiseshell (well, plastic, but they’re brownish) kinda granny-glasses a few years ago, and everyone was like “Whoa, those are HIDEOUS! Did you choose them?” Now, suddenly, every other woman I see with glasses is wearing them. It’s nice to know I’m ahead of my time ;).
And yeah, I like glasses on guys. Especially the skinny rectangular ones. (Um, skinny rectangular glasses, not skinny rectangular guys. Though I do have a tall skinny fetish…)
Rasa, that happened to me, too. Ordered some Lisa Loeb-ish glasses and everyone made fun of me. Now everyone loves them and a bunch of people have been wearing them who don’t need them to begin with.
Silly people…
Yes, men look attractive with glasses, but they have to be the right kind. One boyfriend of mine had these frameless-looking coke-bottle thick glasses that I thought looked really ugly. The best kind are Drew Carey glasses and, like most of the other women have said, those small-framed oval or rectangular ones. My current beau wears those type…yummy!
I don’t know, some are sexy with glasses, some without. I think it depends on what they look like and if the frames complement there face shape and stuff.
My gf keeps telling me I look better without my glasses, but after 20 years of wearing them, I’ve come to like the way I look in them.
In any case, I can’t wear contacts (even if I could, I know I’m too much of a lazy slob to take care of them), but I would consider laser surgery. Just not right now.
As far as picking up babes, well… One, I’ve already picked up mine, and Two, I’m a certified geek with or without the glasses.
After you reach a certain age (around 40ish), you’ll find that glasses make you look YOUNGER! They help cover up the crows’ feet and frown lines. Problem is, though, you must never take them off, unless it’s real dark or you’re alone. (I swear, even my cats give me that god-you’re-getting-old look when I take my glasses off.)
And then there’s the question: How many dates before you let your partner see you without them?
I like guys who wear glasses and I’m a guy who wear’s 'em, too. But I do agree, the frames has to be right, otherwise, it just spoils it.
Personally, I think (the right pair of) glasses gives a guy that “intellectual” look. Also, something could be said for that moment when they take them off. It’s as if they fully open up to the other person, all their masks have come off.
Welfy: Woo hoo, we’re trendsetters! Yeah, I’ve noticed that too, half the women wearing them have plastic frames in them! Oy. The best reaction I got was from one of my archaeology professors–she said “Here I was, thinking you were making some sort of anti-fashion statement… guess not!”
Well, I have worn glasses for most of my thinking life, and I will probably continue to wear them… it’s just a matter of what kind. When I finally get laser surgery/contacts/a genie bottle, I will still wear sunglasses, something I haven’t worn for many many years.
I’m one of those weird cases (aren’t I always?) where, no matter who I’ve asked, my wife, any number of ex-females, family, whoever, I always get the same response to the question of better with or without glasses: “Wow… you don’t look better or worse… you just look really different!”
I wear transition lenses, so that’s two birds with one stone: glass lenses, with built in sunglasses. And I live in them. I often have to retrieve them from the couch cushions after I come to from passing out drunk. I’m much too irresponsible for contact lenses, so its glasses for me until I get lasik surgery.
I think so, too. I tried to convince my husband to try some on the last time he got new glasses, though, and found out something interesting–he’s got a really big head. Seriously–they measured him, and he takes a frame size “13”. That was the largest size that store had, and they didn’t carry that size in the small frames at all. (Not even close.) I thought that maybe we should try a different store, but he took it as a sign from God that he should stick with the same huge style of glasses that he’s been wearing since third grade.
He thinks LASIK and contacts are just silly. If his head were any bigger, though, I’d think he’d have no choice!
