Last time we talked about him here, someone posted a link to this story. It’s kind of interesting.
Needless to say, like any red-blooded 150% American super-patriot, he didn’t serve one day in the military. (Heck, that swim with Allen Ginsberg might have come in handy to get him out of the draft).
Since the US Constitution once had some people declared 60% of a person, perhaps Mike can formulate how much citizenship each American loses by not being a White Heterosexual Christian Male. So, I guess females wouldn’t get 100% citizenship status. What the heck, they couldn’t vote until 1920, let’s just repeal that amendment.
ARRGGHH !!! - No sense continuing to talk about this jerk.
Why dudes here use “mouth-breathing” as some sort of insult? It’s not, nor should it be.
Maybe it’s just a regional thing, but I’m very familiar with the term. It roughly equates to “neanderthal” or “knuckle-dragger.”
Savage is an idiot.
I can, however, discern some potential subjects for legitimate debate.
It’s very unclear to me what Savage might be legitimately thinking when he refers to civil rights taking away the “birthright” of white, heterosexual males. I don’t concede that anyone has a “birthright” in deorgation of anyone else – that is, white, heterosexual males (hereinafter WHSM) don’t have any stronger or richer birthright than a person of any other skin color, gender, or sexual practice.
But I can conceive of situations in which I would contend that certain practices which may be called “civil rights” could legitimately be said to infringe upon some rights in a misguided effort to help others. Minimum wage comes to mind - in my view, wages should be guided by the marketplace, and laws that forcibly send false signals to the market as to the value of labor are not only unwise, but wrong in that they remove what should be the legal right of an employer to pay what he thinks the job is worth, and to be informed as to his error only by the lack of anyone willing to take his wage.
Now, this issue affects a black lesbian employer just as much as a WHSM employer, and obviously has nothing to do with race or sex. BL employers have just as much interest in minimizing their costs as WHSM employers, after all. I have no idea if that’s the kind of thing Savage was thinking; any possible nugget of critical thinking is buried beneath useless and inflammatory rhetoric.
Or, “dude with a medical condition” or “guy with a sinus problem”. As an insult, it’s stupid, and shows a lack of class and compassion.
You’re giving Savage WAY too much credit if you think that’s even remotely the kind of thing he would ever possibly mean.
Honestly, do yourself a favor and never associate yourself at all, no matter how distantly, with that evil cretin.
(The weird thing is, I used to listen to him a long time ago here in the bay area, before his show was syndicated, and before he became successful. And while I never agreed with him at all, I remember thinking that he was, at one point, a fairly reasonable person. I think he got into a spiral where he would say something a bit more hate-filled than he really believed, more or less as hyperbole. And it got a huge positive response. So he kept saying it, and kind of convinced himself that that was what he actually believed. Because, after all, if your adoring public wants to hear it and believes it and praises you and gives you good ratings when you say it, it must be true, right? So then he’d move up a level of hatred, and the cycle would start anew… something like that.)
