Who is this prick Mr. Savage and when did I get hit on the head with the surreal bat?

I kid you not, minutes ago I was not paying attention to CNN’s Talkback Live. There was a dude by the name of Savage on, harping about immigrants.

Then he was asked a question by… Charles Barkley. The basketball player. About immigration.

Still not paying full attention, I noted that the conversation devolved into shouting. The last thing which could be clearly heard as the show broke for a commercial was this Savage guy saying,

"Why don’t you shine my shoes?"

What the fuck? Say that to Sir Charles and you’re likely to get your shoes shined by your own rectum.

Who the hell was that asshole and what just happened? Anyone know?

Mike Savage? You don’t want to know…

If you do want to know, try this link. (warning - link not previewed due to it apparently being too loathsome to pass muster with my um, work computer).

He has a new “Bomb Iraq” parody song.

Have a blast.

Or this link.

Or not.

So he’s apparently a conservative pundit who has a radio talk show.

Bush is not conservative enough for him? Okaaayyy, whateverrrrr…

He’s got his own “anti” websites, too. Plural

Interesting. I had never heard of him, either. But he sounds like exactly the sort of person who would shout, “Why don’t you shine my shoes!” at Charles Barkley.

I’ve heard this fucktard. He has (or had) a late-night slot on a local talk radio station.

I’m a fairly conservative kinda guy for the most part, but “savage” is the best friend a leftie could have. He’s the walking, talking idealized liberal stereotype of a far-right fascist lunatic; this jagoff blows the bell curve so badly, he makes John Ashcroft look like a potential love interest for next season’s “Queer as Folk.”

He’s convinced there’s a huge market segment waiting with bated breath for someone to successfully out-Limbaugh Limbaugh, but he’s so far over the top that he vacillates between laughable and repulsive, while never flirting with relevance.

Note to savage’s dry-cleaners: he spews copious amounts of shit, but that’s not why his shirts are brown.

Uh-huh. What a jackass. And insulting Barkley? Yikes, talk about taking your life in your hands. I’ve met Charles Barkley. In case there’s any doubt, he’s one big dude.

Since the time I stumbled upon Michael Savage’s radio show, I’ve occasionally tuned in–never for more than ten minutes at a time–just to check on how far over the edge he can go. I don’t think he’ll ever be happy until martial law is declared in this country and all Muslims and people of Middle Eastern descent are put in detention camps.

He is also probably the most stridently humorless person in the media today. I once heard him say the reason why he never liked comedies starring such old comics as the Marx Brothers, Buster Keaton, or Charlie Chaplin is because they reminded him of child molesters.

Huh?

In regards to the OP, I think that not paying attention to any interview being conducted by Charles Barkley is laudable.

Is that in response to Savage’s opinion on old time comedians or my posting (I’m sorry if I didn’t word it clearly)?

If it’s the former, I suspect Savage’s dislike of at least the Marx Brothers stems from the adoration of their anarchic style of humor by the 1960’s generation he despises (or, as Savage refers to them, the “Red Diaper Doper Babies”).

Maybe I misunderstood the OP, but I’m left wondering why this guy was hosting TalkBack on CNN? Wouldn’t he fit in better over at Fanatically Outrageous Xenophobes?

Overcompensation.

Man, I thought we were talking about Dan Savage here. This confused me greatly.

Although it would explain the surreal…

I saw it, too. It was sooooo funny! Savage if an odd fellow, and I wouldn’t want him making any policy decisions that affected me… But, some of his points seemed to making themselves by the low brow quality of questions he was getting. Wow! Now THAT’S TV worth watching!

FTR, I think I would end up having to punch him if we ever had an exchange of views. Barkley? In person, I think I would just smile and nod. He’s big and quick to anger.

Myrr21, me too! Gave me a major moment of cognitive dissonance. All I could think was that it must have been a really strange “Savage Love” column…

That was my first thought. I’m glad I was wrong - I like Dan Savage.

I’ll avoid the Mike Savage clown. Thanks for the warning.

The truly sad thing is this guy was given airtime on a major network. Reminds me of when ABC turned to Ann Coulter for post-election insights.

Well, Charlie Chaplin was arrested for violating the Mann Act, and took a young teenage girl as a wife. Perhaps that’s Savage’s beef with him. Buster Keaton and the Marx Bros. though?

Conclusion: Savage is definitely a fascist fucktard.

Is CNN considered a major network. When the world is burning they get lotsa viewers, otherwise not so much. I hope “Talkback Live” is a ratings loser… the worst discussion show I’ve seen.

I don’t recall ever seeing Savage on Fox; he probably considers them lapdogs to Bush. I live in his home market. His show airs 4-7PM and I’ve heard plenty… No clue where he’s coming from. Conservative/populist/alternative-remedy mishmash. Seems like a put on. He didn’t sound like this 5 years ago.

Oddly, the FEC shows a $250 contribution to Diane Feinstein in 1999. Huh?
