Who is this prick Mr. Savage and when did I get hit on the head with the surreal bat?

Peepthis:

For a moment, I thought so too but Savage never mentioned it (and–given Chaplin’s leftist sympathies–that is something he would certainly jump on). However, he just mentioned Chaplin along with the Marx Brothers et al., and said he never found them funny because they looked like child molesters.

Agree with you on his being a fascist fucktard and further add he’s probably got a few mental problems.

I frequently listen to him while driving home from work, for two reasons:
(a) I figure it makes more sense to listen to views I disagree with than views I agree with, as a sort of constant challenging
(b) he’s so ridiculously nutty that it’s frequently entertaining.

The frightening thing is, he does seem to have a large and loyal following who take him truly seriously. His ratings have been good enough to get him nationally syndicated, and the people who call into his show truly seem to respect him. (shudder)

The sad thing is, he seems to be degenerating somehow. Seven or so years ago, when he was just on locally, he seemed at least vaguely thoughtful, someone who was basically intelligent, well-educated and rational. He also had various beliefs (in the area of nutrition, of all things) that were hardly standard Limbaugh fare which he was not ashamed of airing.

Now, he clearly suffers from some form of Megalomania and/or Messiah complex. He seems to think that he is a great American hero, a voice in the wilderness, a Bringer of Truth. But all trace of reason has vanished from his show. Now he just raves for three hours about “red diaper doper babies”, “mean-faced clipped-haired women” and liberals in general, interspersed with urging people to buy his book (which is “breaking all records” for sales, without any clear indication of which records those were), and answering calls from sycophantic listeners, who he usually interrupts before they can make whatever point they were trying to make.

Here’s my favorite recent example of his total idiocy: for a long time after the 2000 election, whenever Al Gore was in the news at all, he would rant about how the liberal media was giving too much exposure to someone who had lost and should go away and sell hot dogs in Tennessee (or whatever his precise phrase was). Then, during the midst of the Trent Lott scandal, when Al Gore announced that he was not going to run for president (which was well covered by all of the media outlets), Savage was outraged that the Gore story didn’t chase the Lott story out of the headlines. First of all, that’s pretty damn hypocritical. But most impressive was his statement that Gore not running was (and I believe this is an exact quote) “the biggest story of the past 6 years”.

'nuf said.
Damn I wish I had seen Charles Barkley lay into him
(Risking Godwin’s law here, if I had a lot more energy, I would perform an experiment in which I took quotes from Savage about liberals and quotes from Hitler about Jews, and tested to see if people could identify which was which…)

This guy should hang around with Dan Savage for a while. I bet his head would implode.

Now Charles Barkley and Randy Savage, that might be a good fight. This guy is as asshole and as apotheosis said, is a best friend a leftie can have.

Savages show on Wednesday show was posted to usenet. The TBL segments were aired.

Savage makes his immigration statement, then says something about a 30% incarceration rate. Barkleys argues incomprehensibly. Savage says so. Barkley calls Savage an “educated dumbass”. Yelling ensues. Host says “no no no”. Savage says “go bounce a basketball” a few times and ends with:

“You couldn’t shine my shoes!”

This was a mild Savage. Barkley is no debater. The host is a ditz. The producers have no clue. IMHO.

Isn’t Savage the guy who tried to rent a theatre somewhere and sell tickets for people to come and see a cow getting butchered and barbequed?
