Middle age can be painless

Well, I’m moving soon, out of the apartment I’ve occupied for almost 20 years. I’ve just been squirrelling stuff away in various nooks and crannies for some time, and excavating has proved interesting. In a drawer that had apparently been my receptacle for personal mailings for many years I found several birthday cards, holiday cards and the following letter:

It’s postmarked during the period I was with the SO I’ve spent the most years with. I’ve never cheated on an SO. The name I can’t make out and the address is not one I recognize. The situation is really not such that I can’t remember all the women I’ve dated.

It sounds like a post break up letter, but I honestly cannot identify the writer.

So much for pain and suffering.

Do you remember all of your travails? Apparently I don’t.

The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

I’ve have forgotten some to be sure. Though I couldn’t tell you what I forgot.

I came across a 5 page paper that I wrote in college–got a good grade on it, too.

I have no memory of writing the thing, of reading the material referred to in the paper…seriously, it is one big blank.

I have also come across old calendars/date books and scratched my head and said, “who is Jack and why was I meeting him at 2pm?”…

Look at it this way–at least she was happy with you! Think how awful it’d be to read a nasty letter and STILL have no clue what it was about…
