Middle Earth FA63 D&D Game: Fifth Adventure - War in Goblin Gate

“Go ahead, Crin. I would happily use mine but your friends may recognise the familiar sound of yours.”

Mulligan’s suggestion is fine - nobody go too far, though.

Crin to Gil-Gandel, “If yours is magical, it might work better. Mine won’t reach to far.”

gives Glinras a hearty toot

Crin says, “Good, now add a short, three longs and a short.”

Assuming Gil-Gandel does so, about 30 seconds later his keen Elf hearing detects a deeper reply of Broooom Bümp Broooom Broooom Broooom Bümp Bümp

Crin says, “Did you make that out?” Gil-Gandel relays what he heard and says excellent and the pair spend the next 5 minutes making reports back and forth.

Crin reports, “They are happy to hear the main way is cleared. A large group of Dwarves and Hobbits will be coming up to the wall. They estimate arrival in 12 minutes. They have been checking the myriad of side passages along the way.”
Mulligan realizes the racket is muffling any noise that she or Miron might make and speeds up a bit. She find the passages is dropping quickly and comes to a Y intersection after another 80’.

Rüdan does not like the idea of scouting the passage. He wait for the troll killers to return.

Elfstan is willing but would like some more help. Even 6 Dwarves should help.

Bitur will ask for any dwarven volunteers to accompany Elfstan, Gwaelur, Ghan, Brin, and him.

He will pull rank a bit, and ask in a way that strongly implies he won’t be particularly pleased if he doesn’t get at least a handful of dwarves taking him up on the request.

“Alright, Deor. Stay behind me, and let’s see what these goblins were hiding…”

Sounds like a plan.

Thoroncir is glad for the princess’s company, but doesn’t want to just be sitting in one place while his friends go in harm’s - and adventure’s - way. He asks her, “Would you like to remain here, my lady, or shall we accompany one of the smaller parties together?”

Ghân is nervous that we are spreading ourselves too thinly.
What if one small group runs into a trap(which drops us down a level) or a tough opponent (perhaps undead that has instructions to kill intruders, but not to roam)?

If Thoroncir and Gilraen leave the main chamber, we have no commanders for the remaining dwarves.

We seem to be in a rush, especially given reinforcements will appear in a short time.

Thoroncir is persuaded by his Wose friend. He will remain with Gilraen and the main body of Dwarves for now.

What is the verdict for all but Mulligan?
What does Mulligan do at the Y intersection.

Deor, 4 dwarves and I are going to investigate whatever is behind the secret door.

Mulligan will check briefly down both sides of the Y Junction for about 50’-60’ to see what is there and then return with Miron back to the party to report.

Mulligan finds the left passage runs level and eventually is curving east. It is unlit and she finds no doors. The right passage heads southwest and at 40’ ends at a door. She notices the door is not has strange markings on it.

Hraedsig and Deor lead the four Dwarves though the tight door into a low passage that Hraedsig has to stoop over to go through. It runs for about 30’ and comes to a door. There is no possibility of passing in here.

Elfstan is still waiting for more help. Perhaps he can assist Hraedsig instead.

Second Try, thanks EH.

Aren’t Gwaelur, Ghan, Brin, and I going off to help Elstan, along with any dwarves I’ve asked to volunteer from reply 1325, or are we just waiting on the others to agree to Mulligan’s plan?

Elfstan was listening to Ghân’s words of caution. He has a lot of respect for Ghân’s words.

Mulligan will be reporting back to the rest of the party about the strange door.

We can stand to be spread just a touch thinner than we are. We shouldn’t waste time all sitting around here. Maybe if the second group was fewer core party members and more dwarves. Me and Bitur and Brin can go with a party of 5 dwarves or so. What do you think Bitur/ Brin?
