Middle Earth FA63 D&D Game: Fifth Adventure - War in Goblin Gate

Mulligan studies the wide variety of spring loaded finger and palm traps. In fact with a little work she could take all of them with her.

They will keep her occupied for hours :stuck_out_tongue:

So lets gather up the gear and look for somewhere else to investigate.

Since there’s nothing obviously wrong with it, I’ll express mild interest in the short sword - I think few other party members use them, and while it’s only a small step up from my good elven blade it can’t hurt to accumulate small improvements.

Meanwhile, yes, gathering up whatever is gatherable and making our exit to somewhere feeling a little less shut-in would be good.

Hraedsig will leave the treasure hunting to those who are inclined and talented at it, and use the few moments of respite to sit and rest. He is ready to move as soon as the party is.

Oh, and if anyone needs a heavy crate moved or something, he’s good for that, too

I’m particularly interested in the magical bottles and brazier, although I expect the latter simply has an ever-burning spell on it- one of my instructors had something similar. I’ll put them in a couple of pouches for safekeeping. The cloak and staff might interest me, but they likewise might suit Ghan better.

I could ID the wall and platform, but I’m loath to expend too many spells with so much left to explore.

It might be worth going through additional crates- some of that stuff does have value. I’d say leave that until after we’ve cleared the rest of the place.

Ghân suggests Deor identifies everything he can while we’re in possession of the room, then we meet up with the dwarves (who are arriving any minute) and together take as much as we can out to safety for further Identification.

So someone make a command decision please. I have conflicting ideas so far.

I think our Elf-captain has spoken. Sir Thoroncir concurs.

Then Deor will make a quick examination of the enchanted wall in the hopes that it’s merely an illusion hiding another room, then leave with the things he’s already gathered.

Bitur will grab the magic bolts and split them with Gwaelur. Giving 3 to him and taking 4 for himself.

Might as well take 5, I fire two bolt at a time.

2 should do me just fine though.

All right then. Bitur takes 5; Gwaelur takes 2.

Mulligan will also give Deor a brief hand looking over the West Wall where the magic is radiating from to see if anything is hidden there.

On close examination of the west wall Deor and Mulligan come up blank. What ever the magic is will require more than visual examination.

The stuff is gathered and the rest of the crates left for later.

The party heads back out as the rest of the Dwarves arrive. In all another 40 Dwarves with 4 Hobbits and 2 Elves arrive.

Rüdan suggests, “I think we should send some Dwarves in to barricade the door to the south and whatever the west wall is. What’s next though? We have many direction to go.”

Quiet please. drat this dwarvish racket

If there are any audible cues as to the whereabouts of the enemy, we form up and head for them. Otherwise it’s scouts-out time again, taking care not to get more than about a round’s swift running ahead of the reinforcements, and avoiding meddling with any traps.

I’m a little off the pace here. What choices of direction do we have at present?

Ghân suggests we do any nearby rooms / corridors first.
Clear the whole place methodically, one step at a time.
Keep a line of retreat open, just in case.

Agreed, that method worked well for us at the Secret Door.

The Map updated:

How about we leave most or all of the Dwarven infantry here to hold this intersection, and then go down the small passageway to the upper left of the map (to the NW, I presume)?

My thoughts exactly.
