Mike Sherman, hypocrite extraordinaire

Well, the NFL handed out fines for the Packers/Vikings incident. Link.

Antuan Edwards was fined for his hit on Walsh, so I stand corrected, the play was neither legal nor clean.

I still don’t think Sherman is a hypocrite because I still think there are major differences between the Sapp/Clifton play and the Edwards/Walsh play. But, considering the NFL’s ruling I now think these plays are more similar than I did when this thread started.

Oh yeah, I am a Packers fan so my take on this situation is probably a bit biased. Just like the opinions of the Vikings fans and Packer haters posted in this thread are probably a bit biased as well. Whatever. Some people will hate the Packers no matter what they do, some will love them.

For the Vikings fans commenting on how they are looking foreward to the Packers getting beat in the playoffs:
At least that gives you guys a reason to watch the postseason. Maybe in the next few years you will have a team to cheer for in the playoffs instead of just one to cheer against. Then again, maybe not.

At first glance the fines seem about right for the actions in that game. As stupid as their behavior was…it’s hard to belive that Favre and Hovan shold get fined for their jawboning and taunting. YMMV

Philly fans, Raider fans, Jet fans. But New England  huh? Probably not even in the top 10.

Still, its Philly fans by a mile.

Heh- my team is wearing last years Superbowl ring-- if the Pack asks nice they might get to look at it. Cause heavens knows that is as close as that team is getting to the Superbowl anytime soon.

All pointless NFL smack talk aside-- do you know how hard it was to be a New England fan growing up.

elf6c, I’ll retract my disparaging remark about New England fans. My “IIRC” aside, I clearly didn’t remember correctly.

Regarding the difficulty of being a Patriots fan growing up, remember that the Packers were generally atrocious between say, 1968 and 1995 or so. The entire decade of the 1980s was almost unbearable (cuz the Bears were dominating us).

I fear you may be right about the Packers not seeing a Super Bowl anytime soon. Favre keeps talking about retiring, and the team is not particularly good without him. It might have been a different story this year if the injuries hadn’t piled up like they have. Oh well.
