Mild annoyances and how to fix them. (WinXP)

Ok, I know someone’s showed how to fix these before, but I have no idea how to search for them. I have WinXP with a few minor annoyances that I would like to, but don’t really need to. These are:

The quick launch and search assistant toolbars come up every time I boot up my computer. How do I make them go away?

New IE windows don’t come up the almost-maximized-size. Is there a way when I open up a new browser window (with the icon or Ctrl-N) to make it either maximized or really big?

And the status bar in IE always disappears. I like the status bar.

open one. make it as big as you like. hold ctrl and press the ‘x’

This has never happene to me, but if it did, the first place I would look is in the startup menu item (start->programs->startup) and see if those items are in there.
