I dunno…I’ve just been letting the cats tongue bathe him.
Seriously though, I felt bad for having him this long, so in addition to buying him new duds I’ve cleaned him up a bit, stitch up his jacket in a couple of places that had come loose, and cleaned it so he should be good to go when you get him.
What you do to him to him when you get him, well…have you considered scotch guard?
Are there any UK dopers on the list? I am going over there at the end of July for Worldcon and 3 weeks of sightseeing. If there is someone over there I could pass him over by hand and save some postage, if not, I could show him some sights with me.
That will work. He can go sightseeing with me. I am planning on leaving the last weekend of July, so if he is going with me, he will need to get here by then.
My 4 year old was soooooooo excited when Miles came out of his box.
She wanted to know why I bought him for her.
That has taken some explaining, let me tell you.
Miles is going to rest for a day after taking a long trip down under.
After that, who knows.
You’ll just have to wait until he pesters me to post something here.
He might go out sightseeing in the meantime.
Good to see Miles made the trip safely! Hope to hear about his adventures in Australia.
Day before yesterday I mailed a CD, a floppy, and an undeveloped roll of film to BearNenno, which had been in the box with Miles. I also put in my floppies of pictures. And just in case the US Snail lost them, I backed them up before mailing, so the “Adventures of Miles” will not be lost.
Oh! That reminds me! I need to buy a camera before Miles makes it to me. Maybe the bookstore sells them. . .Glad to hear Miles made the trip down under safely!
Also, re-email me your email address. I know you changed it or updated it but I can’t seem to find your new one. Email it worldtourteddy AT hotmail DOT com.
Thanks!! Are we going to get a pic of him in a Kangaroo’s pouch??
I’m unemployed at the moment (well for the last 18 months) and I was waiting to see if I got the last job I applied for so I could buy Miles some Aussie clobber from build-a-bear in Oz. Unfortunately didn’t get the job so Miles is still hanging around in his old clothes.
The full story will be shortly be written into the book and posted here, but in summary.
Miles has been geocaching with the caughtatwork family (pictures will be loaded soon) up into the bush about 100km (60 miles) from our place.
Miles has been treated to a ‘Dive In’ movie at our house (crappy picture to follow). On nice calm warm evenings in summer we set up an outdoor screen and with the DVD player attached to a projector, we watch movies on the big screen in the backyard. Sometimes around the pool area. This night the wind was a little strong so the screen was only about 8 feet wide.
On Australia Day he spent a nice day in the pool. OK, not actually in the pool 'cos he’s not that waterproof, but he did go for a float on the pool (pictures to follow).
On Friday and Saturday Miles is also going geocaching again, up through Heathcote, through to Bendigo and back through Castlemaine. Pictures will follow.
Not sure I can get Miles into a roo pouch. Despite what may appear to be nice bouncy roos, they can be mean critters if you get near them. There’s no way I’m going to get that close to a wild roo.
Couple of more things around town and he’ll be on his way. I’ll give you a shout when he’s coming back (I might have to save up for the postage).
Sweet. Let me know before you send him off. I think there’s time to send him to Ireland before he heads back the states for about 7 months of Frat Parties and Pride Parades…
I’ll get in touch with you about it before Monday. I’m PCSing to Korea, so I’ll be out of contact with you guys for at least 3-4 weeks after that. (approx)
I just wanted to put in for a change, it would be better if I could get Miles around Mid-April, if that’s possible. I forgot that we don’t really go into May, as the final day is May 5th. Is that possible? I can wait if needed.
Photos should be up in a day or so.
I’m filling in the diary tomorrow.
Miles should be on his way to Ireland later this week once I con some bucks out of my brother for postage.
Sorry for the slackness, I have been ‘busy’ applying for unemployment assistance and haven’t had the time to scratch myself.
Hey guys. I’ll need you all to stay on top of this for me. It’s going to be a little while before I can really pay attention, read the boards or check emails. So I’m counting on you guys! You guys rock, and I know I can count on you people!
Once I’m settled in, I’ll be able to devote a little time to the tour. And I’m going to transfer all Miles’s pictures from the other web pages, all to his Official Picture Page (thanks matt).
It looks as though I might be deploying to the desert as soon as I get settled, anyway…
If that happens ::keeping my fingers crossed::, I’ll hand over the password and eMonkey Mail to someone so he/she can keep things going.
But really, the tour should be self sufficient until the names on the list run out. As long as people stay motivated and keep track of the tour!
Looks like it.
He also made it all the way back to Australia with an unknown address.
I’ve checked the address I got and it’s as it was written on the box.
This has happened occassionally (Australia Post probably sent it to the wrong “Ireland”).
I’ll check the address with Bear_Neno and get back here.
