Milk and sugar? Milk or sugar? Neither? {Now with working Polls}

I drink my tea straight – no milk, no sugar. When I used to drink coffee, I needed both milk and sugar, though I weaned myself down to just milk before I quit coffee altogether. So, fellow Dopers, what’s your preference?

Just milk with both coffee and tea.

Don’t drink tea. Black coffee.

I’ll also have latte’s or whatever, but never cream or sugar in brewed coffee.

If I’m making coffee, I use flavored creamer. If I’m buying coffee, milk & sugar. Aka a “regular coffee.”

I like my tea unadulterated and my coffee with the merest splash of milk or cream.

I take a lot of sugar and a lot of ice in my tea (and a lot of tea).

Not a coffee drinker.

Tea? Iced with lemon. Maybe a little sugar if it is not very good tea.

Coffee? Well, I dont much like coffee so a Mocha with extra chocolate.

Black tea. Or better yet, green tea. No sweetener or lightener.

Black coffee. If I’m feeling saucy I’ll brew it with a pimch of salt in the grounds.

Nothing in my tea.

If the coffee is very good, i enjoy it black. If it’s mediocre coffee, i enjoy some cream or milk. Or at latte. If it’s bad coffee i want lots of cream, or at least whole milk.

I don’t like coffee creamer. I used to enjoy a hazelnut creamer, until one day i realized the flavor had plastic notes, and i haven’t been able to drink it without thinking it tastes like plastic since. Although…i haven’t tried since i had covid. Maybe i wouldn’t notice now.

I drink a lot of black tea. On the occasions when I drink coffee, I add plenty of milk (no sugar).

Hot tea: Plain.

Iced tea: Plain, or maybe a little mint if I have it.

Coffee: BLECH.

Hot tea: splash of milk, no sugar

Coffee: half-and-half, no sugar

Reminds me of the mother of my high school best friend, who declared, regarding putting sugar in coffee: “If the coffee is good, it doesn’t need sugar. If the coffee is bad, it doesn’t deserve it.” She was okay with cream or no cream.

As for me - whether it’s tea or coffee, plain/black is my usual choice, but milk/cream can be nice.

Sugar is evil. In my perfect world, no beverage is ever sweetened.

Both black, no sugar. A result of not having a fridge at my boarding school, so nowhere to store milk.

When hiking I might have a little whisky in the coffee. I don’t drink much tea.

Agreed. Which is why I switched from soda pop (regular and diet) to unsweetened seltzer several years ago.

With coffee, there was a time when I used to typically put 4 packets of sugar into a large coffee from McD’s. Over the course of a few months in my late 20s, I weaned myself off of sugar in coffee entirely.

My coffee is milk and sweetener but my tea varies a lot. But probably milk and sweetener the most.

I moved the coffee and tea poll from In My Humble Opinion to Cafe Society.

@EddyTeddyFreddy Do you want the polls fixed?

Moderating

In coffee, half-and-half and a bit of sugar.

In tea, a bit of lemon.

Coffee: milk or half and half, and non-sugar sweetener (usually Equal/aspartame)
Tea: a splash of milk, no sweetener

Hot tea, usually with a good shot of evaporated milk and two teaspoons of sugar. If I’m sick, I want it with lemon juice and honey.

Cold tea, with sugar and lemon or lime juice.

Hot coffee, usually black with no sugar. But I do like a good latte, and will also have cream and sugar on occasion.

I don’t care for cold coffee unless it’s mixed with high-fat milk and sugar or ice cream.
