So I’m flying out to Minneapolis this weekend to interview for a job at the University of Minnesota. I have Saturday and Sunday pretty much free, so I figured I’d check and see if anyone wanted to get together for a lunch or dinner.
I know nothing about the area, but chique is recommending the Uptown area (chique is pretty much dictating this post, for that matter. 
) Anyone have any favorite restaraunts?

Hinckley isn’t really too far away, if you guys would feel like visiting me at work. I don’t start until 11pm (both nights), but it’s great because I work at a hotel by myself (unless you count Al, the security guard… he’s cool though) and we have a really big continental breakfast area in which we could visit. Ummm… Plus, the casino is only a parking lot away.
It’s not going to happen like that though, is it?
I’d really look forward to meeting you Smeg, if I could…
And before any of you say so (chique just did, in chat) let me explain why I can’t make it, even though I don’t have to be to work until 11 o’clock. I have to work Fri-Sun. 11pm-7am. Which means that I’d have to get off work Friday (which would actually be 7 o’clock Saturday morning), change, sit around for an hour or so, drive to the cities, do lunch, hang out, have fun and blah blah blah. Then I’d have to drive home, get ready for work, and somehow manage to stay up until 7 o’clock Sunday morning.
As I told chique, no sleep = crabby Sarah.
But I really, really, really want to go!!!

lno suggested Sherlock’s Home (YAY!!!) but it’s also a little pricey. lno also suggested Applebee’s, at which point I questioned his culinary tastes 
lno will be working in Eden Prarie, and I’m driving down from St. Cloud to meet Smeghead at his hotel near the MegaMaul. Rubes, you’re near the area where I’d like to go, but everyone else is in the SW, soooo…y’all hep me, pweeze.

I don’t have wheels, but am well versed on the metro. I can think of some dive places to go, but I don’t know what everyone would think.
If it’s to be in the sw, I suggest somewhere at the Mall of America, as I can get an express ride there and back when I need to go for the game, but those are selfish reasons.
If it’s uptown, I would suggest, in no particular order:
CC:Club-dive bar, consistantly gets rated as the cities best juke box though
Uptown Bar & Grill-Excellent food and one can order gyro meat with their eggs, or even a side of gyro meat (rubes loves the gyros)
Rudolphs Barbeque-The only reason I mention is that it is extremely close to me, and I regularly go there for afterwork happy hours
Joe’s Garage-Haven’t been there in a year or so. They were written up in USA Today for having one of the best rooftop (might have been outdoor) seating in the nation

Joe’s Garage was fun last time, but I think I’ll pass on their rooftop dining this time around. Maybe when that elusive one day of summer shows up…

Joe’s outdoor seating won’t be available until May I think, but that’s the only thing I could think of to say about it
I’ve got the Rykid this weekend, so I don’t think I’ll be available for a get-together. Darn it. Anyway…I was just wondering what position at the U are you going for? I’m currently there every day. Maybe catch you sometime later?
As far as eating establishments…there’s a Buca di Beppo very near the airport/Megamall (call the number below for directions). It’s pricey unless you get the Buca Per Due (means: Buca For Two, I think). That way, it’s $22.95 for two, and you get plenty of good southern Italian food in a delightfully schlocky atmosphere. (Of course, if you add salad, wine and dessert, you’ll be in the $25 per person range.) They do a land-office business. I’m not sure when they open on Saturdays, but I’m pretty sure they open at noon on Sundays. Phone: 651-SPA-GETT

Quick update - I now have an appointment Sunday at 2pm. So…work around that, I guess. That is all.
I just realized that Saturday will be here in under 10 hours, and we don’t have a spot picked out yet.
I’ll stick a flag in the ground and pick one, if we need to, but does anyone have a definate preference?
