Well, Steelerphan, according to ESPN, not only did McGinnis and his boys get the axe, but Buffalo’s Gregg Williams and Chicago’s Dick Jauron also got put on ice today. The Butch Davis and the Browns sent three assistant coaches packing. Jim Fassel of the Giants got his pink slip earlier.
Bill Callahan managed to coach the Raiders into the basement by losing the hotly contested Stinker Bowl against San Diego yesterday and is widely thought to be cleaning out his locker. (That game was celebrated in proper fashion, with 66 fans being kicked out of the stadium and 54 arrested.) San Diego says they intend to stick with Marty Shottenheimer.
Dave Wannstedt is probably a little bit uncomfortable right now. There were rumors that Washington’s Steve Spurrier might be taking over his job. Uncharacteristically, Dan Snyder has said he has no plans to let Spurrier go.
Oh, and by the way, I’m pissed that Minnesota lost. I more or less transferred my allegiance to the Vikings this year since Washington was fucking up so badly. I fear that the shroud of doom which follows all of my favorite teams was unwittingly transferred to Minneapolis. Did you see those three missed field goals and two out of bounds kickoffs by Virginia Tech the other night? That was me.
Next war we get into, I’m thinking of rooting against the United States, just to make certain that we win.

Oh Good sweet Jesus. You threw your backing to the Vikes cuz the Foreskins had a bad year? There’s nothing forcing you to join the Packer nation, but if you’re rooting for an NFC North team, keep in mind that the at least the Bears and Lions have won titles. The Red Sox have nothing on the Vikings.

NurseCarmen, from what I’ve seen and read Callahan is out. I suspected that when he said they were the stupidest team. Al “Satan Spawn” Davis was probably more than a little miffed at that.
An aside, Jauron was hosed. He’s got the QB I wanted the Pack to take. Chicago, God strike me dead for saying it, has a future. And McGinnis? It was pretty much common knowledge he was fired when he signed the contract. When the ownership changes in Phoenix, the Cards may have a chance. But McGinnis will be elsewhere next year.
Another aside. I read the transcript of Mike Tice’s post-game interview. He said his first concern over everything was how his wife and daughter felt. (Second lightning incoming) Tice is a class act. I can genuinly say I like him as a person. I won’t even go into punk ass bitch Hovan’s quote.

Like I said, I wasn’t asking for you to be banned, but I’ve seen it happen for less. Maybe just depends on the mod and what mood he/she is in? Alas, this isn’t GD, I’m going away for awhile.
For better or worse, i am a Minnesota Vikings fan and will always be, but after yesterday’s game i couldn’t help but remember the classic exchange between a sportswriter and (then) Tampa Bay coach John McKay:
Sportswriter: “What do you think of your team’s execution?”
McKay: “I’m in favor of it.”
And i don’t think there is a better quarterback than Farve when he’s on his game…

Nope, guess I’m not done laughing. I do offer an apology to true Vikings fans, I know what gloating opponents feels like. But I’ve had my nephew, car and house damaged by Viking fans AFTER THEY WON! This is just too good. I think my mom had something to do with it. I suspect she met Irvin Favre at the Pearly Gates and said, “let’s do something special for both our sons”.
