The fan in my HP Elitebook is no longer working. It’s a work computer with minimal control over administrative functions, so I can’t change any settings or anything. I don’t mind buying a new fan and making the swap, but I don’t know if the fan itself is broken or if there is some other problem. What is the chance that an inoperable laptop fan is due to a hardware problem vs a software problem. If it’s hardware, what’s the likely hood that the problem is the fan itself and not something else …
