Last night while uninstalling programs on my mother’s computer I screwed up some important files and had to reinstall Windows. She had XP Home and I installed XP Pro.
After working to get things back where they use to be there’s a new problem. There’s an on-line station she listens to but Windows Media Player and Realplayer won’t play it. I downloaded the asx file, double clicked it, checked what the problem is (in Media Player) and it’s a C00D10B5 and the actual error is “missing media usage rights”. I know it’s a DRM problem, I just don’t know what to do about it.
I’ve Googled the problem and so far none of the solutions seem to work. I’ve registered quartz.dll, I checked the “Connect to Internet” option. I made sure that C:\Windows\System32 was included in the system path, and probably a couple of other things that I can’t remember right now.
She’s using Media Player 11 and RealPlayer SP. I know it’s not the players that are the problem, but I figured I’d include the information in case anybody asked.
If anybody can help me, I’d appreciate it. Also, would a third-party player like Winamp be a workaround, or would I encounter the same problem? Thanks.
