Mississippi Teabagger: Letting Women Vote A Bad Idea

Somehow, I’m not surprised a woman’s voicing this opinion:

Here’s a direct link to the interview, and one last tidbit:

But let’s not take her out of context:

… she said, without a hint of irony.

Irony died for them at the same time it became impossible to parody these people.

meh.

she’s a Puddin’ Head, nothing more.

No . . . men are more straightforward than that. Men use actual skewers.

Hmmmm, “this ^” is used up and “+1” is getting there. Time for a golden oldie!

Word.

Tell it, brother!

She really oughtn’t to worry her pretty little head about it. And bring me a beer.
Seriously, wtf is wrong with people?

I remember when I first heard Ann Coulter say the she thought women shouldn’t have the right to vote.

Its largely because women vote for Democrats. If they could get away with saying that young people and minorities shouldn’t be able to vote, they would.

Well little lady, why don’t you start by removing yourself from politics. Set an example here.

Or are you just a complete fucking hypocrite?

yeah, I thought as much

If I ran the GOP, I’d look at why this is and work to fix the problem from the inside.

I suppose that’s a reason I’ll never join the GOP.

They’re in for a shock in 30 years or so.

As an English socialist, I’ve occasionally had the guilty thought “fucking Representation of the People Act 1928!”.

Because over here women are for more likely than men to vote Tory, in fact women have been solely responsible for every period of post-war Tory government, in that men as a group always vote Labour.

But I don’t suppose Mrs Mississippi would have much sympathy for that.

[off topic] Well, consider my ignorance fought. I’d never thought this was the case - though on reflection, it makes a certain amount of sense for quite a long time, given the historically unionised nature of traditional male work. Still surprising that it has held on as unionised work fell away/the unions were smashed though. I wonder whether, as old men die off, whether this will balance out more. [/off topic]

It is fairly common in conservative circles to believe that. Laura Ingram, Limbaugh, John Derbyshire of national Review have expressed similar comments.

If you really, really believe in [del]Kinder, Küche, Kirche[/del] Traditional Gender Roles, then it’s unavoidable that you believe women should stay out of politics and keep to the home and children. It’s the old idea that the Proper Male Sphere is outside the home and the Proper Female Sphere is inside the home, combined with the Pauline ideas that women should be seen and not heard and must never presume to assume authority over men.

Happily, this is one of those things most Christians (Jews, Muslims, etc.) have ‘interpreted’ into a nullity in modern Westernized countries.

Well it’s obvious isn’t it?

Here, a BBC Public Service Announcement on the issue.

it’s a slippery slope.

first female singers, then female motorists, now all hell has broke loose.

Reminds me of a comic (that I can’t find) of a man in a hospital bed in traction saying to his visitor: “And then I told her that the biggest mistake they ever made was inventing the automatic transmission.”

So I guess she’ll get her ass back in the kitchen, stop interfering in politics and let the men handle it?
