YES!!!
FAR FUCKING OUT!!!
That smile could light up the whole stadium.
Amazing performance. Bet Hanley feels like shit though.
I’m not sure Kershaw cares, but yeah.
This is what everyone has been waiting to hear: the Reds have now won six out of seven and are now at .500 for the first time since…um…April?
I have to thank Asimovian, since this streak started by splitting the four game series with his Dodgers.

After years of disappointment I try not to get too excited when the Royals are on a winning streak, but I have to say they’ve looked mighty impressive the last few weeks.
What’s funny is the KC sports media is already talking about their positioning for a playoff spot. And I’m thinking, it’s not even the All Star break yet! They’ve got plenty of time left to screw this up.
Just got back from seeing the sub .250 version of the Nats (which they have been for close to two years now against the Braves and Cards). Looking forward to seeing the .600 version (which they are against everyone else) soon.
My pleasure. The Dodgers haven’t been doing so badly themselves of late, so I don’t see why we can’t both benefit.
Only 11 more days until I go to see the Dodgers play the Tribe, at which point, I expect my head will explode.
Cannot believe the way the Reds squandered an 8-0 lead over the Blue Jays tonight. Unreal. Somewhere in Canada (yes, Canada, Phillip!) RickJay is DANCING.
Oooof. What a colossal bullpen meltdown that was. Oooof. Ouch. Damn. Fuck.
Happy to oblige you some breathing space against the suddenly hot Yankees there, Rick.
And then the Reds win 11-1. Who is this team?
Nats cling to first place in a crowded NL East.
As a diehard Cub fan (though I live about 2 hours from Cincy, and grew up watching the Big Red Machine), allow me to say a preemptive “you’re welcome” for all the wins we’ll let you all have. We’ll be sellers again this year. But when Baez, Bryant, and the kids come up from the minors, y’all may have some more competition in the next season or two.
As long as y’all keep the Cardinals from the postseason, I’m happy.
In case anybody didn’t see this over the weekend, the Brewers scored three runs following a Rockies wild pitch: the runner on third scores on the wild pitch itself, the next runner scores after the catcher makes a bad throw to the pitcher covering home, and the last runner scores because the pitcher and catcher stopped paying attention. That’s a really heads-up play by Jean Segura.
Time for a musical number: Wynona Carr’s “Life is a Ballgame”.
Enjoy!
Looks like we finally gave the Cubs the business end of the whooping stick after being 1-1 for like…ever.
Boy, it sure is nice seeing the Mariners shut up all those noisy Red Sox fans in Safeco Field.
Nats beat the Brewers 3-0 tonight. Gio struggles with his command, but gets the job done.
They were talking on the radio this morning about how the Blue Jays have to start proving themselves against the “tough AL East.”
I know it’s been a tough division for a long time but it might be time to accept that maybe it isn’t a tough division this year. There’s a reason Toronto is in first place despite going into the year making few improvements to a 73-89 team; it’s a weak division.
Read somewhere that the Jays’ current record would’ve been good for fourth place in the division at this point in the season during any of the last four years. Now they’re first place.
The Orioles and Yankees certainly aren’t impressing me at this moment.
Here’s a fun stat:
The Texas Rangers rank *last *in the American league in team ERA (4.51)…and *first *in the league in shutouts (13).
Tough to do.
