MLB Playoffs

That would be irrelevant. They knew when the game was supposed to start, which is where that would matter. It was when (or if) it would have to be suspended that they didn’t know.

I’ve never seen a team so absolutely, utterly out of gas than the Yankees right now. They’ve got talent, and they just have no will left to use it.

This is not going so well.

I do not agree with this message

I must agree with our noted werecolleague.

No, not a good time for CC to have his worst outing of the year. And Teixeira make twice as many errors during the postseason as he did during the regular season.

They need to get pissy with him about his weight and getting back into shape like they did the other year. Seemed like he was getting back into shape for a while and then this season, not so much. He can’t run and seems to out of breath a lot lately.

OMG. Girardi sends A-Rod in for Ibanez. Of course, he makes an out. It’s all over, folks. I know it’s only the 6th inning, but the Yankees are done. Stick a fork in them. Detroit takes it in four.

I don’t remember ever seeing this good of a team go this flat. Good luck Tigers. Beat the NL please.

How quickly we forget. We scored a little better, but not significantly so, in 2004.

Tigers had as many runs in the series as Yankees had hits.

Wow, great night, but illich is looking bad :frowning:

It looks like they dyed his hair very quickly, knowing he may need to be shuffled out there if the Tigers win. He looked bad and is going on my 2013 Death Pool list.

Goddamit, Lincecum, do you have to make me vomit blood every start?

Hey, Pence hit one out of the infield (and then some)!

One of my favorite nights of the year–the dashing of the Yankees’ season. What a delightful drubbing the Tigers gave them!

I was on a plane for most of the game, but we flew over Comerica in time for the celebration. Seriously fucking awesome sight!

I also have to rub things in a bit, because I am an asshole. But Bwahahahah, Jackson, Scherzer and Coke for Granderson, because the Tigers just wanted to drop salary. Tell me some more about how Cashman is a genius?

I’m pretty sure Granderson leads the majors in home runs over the last two years. None of the three teams in that trade can argue with the results. The Yankees didn’t lose because of a bad trade or a bad roster (or even bad managing even though Girardi stuck with Rodriguez for too long). Nobody hit for the Yankees in the playoffs except Jeter before he got hurt and Ibanez in a few pinch hit at-bats, so they lost. There’s not much else to say for them. You can get a stacked lineup, but if none of them hit, you’re going to lose. They didn’t hit at all for the entire playoffs except for the first game, and even that was mostly a five-run rally in one inning. They scored 2.2 runs a game over nine playoff games and six runs in four games in the ALCS. The pitching was good except for today, too. But if you play eight playoff games and score 2, 3, 1, 3, 4, 0, 1 and 1 runs, you can’t be surprised if you lose six of those games.

Scherzer came from the Diamondbacks. Cashman didn’t trade him.

Hard to get your mind around the fact that the Yankees, who scored over 800 runs in the regular season, managed just 2 in their final 3 games. Is Detroit pitching really that good?
