This had me roaring; thanks for posting it.
We have to cling to something. Irrational hope is better than no hope.
Teams have come behind from 3-1 before.
I don’t really understand mass complaining from fans whose teams are in an LCS.
It is amazing to me just how down on the team Giants fans (on that blog at least) seem to be. 3-1 is completely surmountable, especially when you have your two best pitchers lined up at home for Games 6 & 7. I still remember the 1996 NLCS…
And I remember the 1985 World Series…
and I sort of, almost remember the 1968 World Series…
And didn’t the Giants just (as in, like, last week) win 3 in a row against a very good Cincinnati team?
Completely surmountable.
Never speak these words again!
Maybe so, but they’ve won his last 12 starts.
OK, if the Giants hang on to this lead [turns around 3 times and spits] they should just drag Zito onto the mound to start every game in the postseason, even if he just throws one pitch.
What do you mean, “if”?
The Giants brought their ‘A’ game tonight.
Go Cards!
No, they brought their “Z” game
Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself
Irrational hope…FOR THE WIN!!!
The Giants are coming home!
Hope still lives.
I heard the replay of Sandoval’s blast…do they really call him “Kung Fu Panda”?
Yes, that **nickname started early in his career because his body is so round (much more so than Charles Barkley, “The Round Mound of Rebound”).
Sandoval: “Kung Fu Panda”, or “The Round Mound, the Grounder Hound”
(Not official; I just made that up)
On Sunday’s telecast, check out the fans in the stands, and you will undoubtedly see lots of panda hats.
The Giants really seem to have a collection of characters. Wilson and his beard, Prince Fielder’s stunt double Kung Fu Panda, Lincecum and his Marylin Manson hair and skin tone…a couple mohawks in there, etc.
I hope the Giants win it all.
Yes - Barry Zito gave him that nickname. People usually shorten it to just “Panda.”
Should the Giants win the next two games and make it to the World Series, you know who’s all lined up to be able to start Game 1, don’t you?
Barry Zito.
Not all that long ago, such an idea would have left Giants fans quaking in their boots…but for some reason right about now it seems like a really good idea…
It’s not a good thing. We no longer have an ACE, at this late date in the season. Arms are tired. The Giants have, NOW, five starters (if you include Lincecum, who I don’t, he will not start again this postseason unless someone’s arm spontaneously amputates) who are very capable of throwing a gem, but not a stopper. No Verlander or Hughes or Dickey.
That said, I am STILL very confident, as a Giants fan. Particles, man…
