I live in Australia, so I’ll give you my fave Aussie beers first. #1, Crown Lager and #2, VB (Victoria Bitter).
My fave American beer would have to be Miller.
Heineken is also up there with the best.

George Killian’s Irish Red Ale
Right now it’s Redhook ESB. And then there’s always Guinness. Like God spittin’ in your mouth it is.
That is a very broad question.
I love the Belgian munk brews (also known as Trappist ale) like;
St. Sebastian
Pater Lieven
Abbeye de Aulne
Witkap Pater Single
Affligem Dobbel
Westmalle Triple
St. Sixtus
Ename Tripel
Chimay Grand Reserve
Leffe Blonde
Bornem
Augustijn
Orval
Grimbergen Triple
I personally think Belgium is the beer drinkers paradise.
The mass produced stuff doesn’t come close to the perfection found in Belgian munk beer.
Jack
It’s a regional beer, but my favorite is Fat Tire. Fortunately, it’s becoming more available, I’ve heard that it’s for sale in Texas and Washington now.
If you see it at the local liquor store make sure to pick up a six pack and give it a try.
Fat tire? Where is it from?
Also, do people REALLY drink Foster’s overseas? Because nobody drinks it in Australia… it sucks…
Guinness
BBK
Erdinger
Newcastle Brown Ale
Just to name a few.
Fat Tire is damn good too.
And i think Fosters really sucks here.I think the swill we get here is brewed in Canada.
Agreed. It’s horrible stuff! (almost as bad as XXXX) No one can stand it (that’s why we export that shit)
Anyway, here’s my favourites:
Crownies
VB
Boags (any of them)
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
Blue Moon - Belgian White.
Yum. Yum. Yum.
Trappists rule! And Newcastle Brown ain’t too shabby either.
My faves (that I can think of, in no particular order):
Corsendonck
McEwan’s Scotch Ale
Mackeson’s Stout
Any good barley wine
Brooklyn chocolate stout
Bass ale
Anchor porter
Young’s oatmeal stout
Singha (Thai)
Kirin (Chinese? Japanese? I forget)
Negra Modelo
Samuel Smith porter (or any other Sam Smith)
Most Sam Adams concoctions
A well-made lambic, esp. Kriek or Framboise
Guinness stout (when served at the right temperature!)
anything my pal Dr. Evil brews
And I’ve never met a mead I didn’t like
There are a lot more, but I haven’t been to a serious brew pub in a while.

You Bruces seem to have the same opinion of Foster’s (“It’s Australian for piss, mate.”) that real beer lovers here in the States seem to have for Budweiser. Both companies have really cool commercials; neither one can make lager worth a damn.
And, for the record, I never much cared for Foster’s; it seems to me that the “oil can” nickname is well deserved – it tastes like 10W30 after about 72,000 miles in your crankcase.
All the Coopers (South Australia) beers.
Southwark Old Stout.
Hop Garden Gold from my local brewery, The Hogs Back Brewery
Yuengling Traditional Lager. From the oldest brewery in the United States, right here in Pennsylvania.
I’m weird, because I really don’t like beer, but I keep trying to find one I’ll like. Masochism, I guess. I’ve found I can tolerate most lagers, but none of the stouts. But so far the only beer I’ve really enjoyed is:
Lindeman’s Peche
I’m fond of a good cider, too.
Ron
Shiner Bock
Drink one…You’ll understand.
My (Australian) husband thinks Fosters is better here in the U.S. than it is in Australia, but still not as good as Budweiser, which isn’t very good at all. (He’s a Toohey’s Old fan, by the way.)
We have a local brewery, New South, that makes a good nut brown that I’d count as one of my favorites. If I’m just picking something up at the grocery store, though, I go with Pete’s Wicked Pub Ale (when they have it) or Bass.
I’ll go with Yuengling Lager as well. Didn’t know how much I’d miss it when I went away to university…there, my beer of choice was Natural Lite. THAT was drunk only on special occasions (i.e. someone had money for a change)
But if you ever make it to Oktoberfest - forget Lowenbrau and all the “known” brands. Head to the Augustiner tent and drink the only beer at the O-fest that is from poured from wooden kegs. Mmmmmm…
