MMP - a generally crappy Monday

Actually, so far I’ve found the people at UPS to be quite reasonable, it’s the folks over at Toshiba who have a problem. Then again, part of the problem with the folks at Toshiba is that calling “Toshiba UK” gets you Ye Olde Call-Center In India Or Thereabouts… seriously, people, learn the difference between “cutting costs” and “cutting your feet off”!

If/once the first delivery attempt fails, I will be able to get the delivery mode changed over the phone to go pick it up. Yay! That means I don’t need to sit in my room waiting for the laptop to come, which is always good news and even more so when the big shiny yellow thing inna sky is finally out, after a week in hiding… I’m trying not to scare it away!

Well, at least my Monday is more or less over. You guys, on the other hand. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just got a call from the boyfriend. He’s arrived in Belfast. Dad’s still in ICU, no change, for either better or worse.

I’ve just discovered that one of our sofa pillows smells like cat pee. It’s completely dry so I have no idea when this happened. ARGH. Any suggestions on how to get the smell out? Soak it overnight?

Awsome recipe I just tried:

2 zucchinis, grated and salted with all the water squeezed out of them
1 cup breadcrumbs
2 eggs
1/2 cup fresh herbs (or 1/4 cup dry) - parsley, dill, mint, whatever
1 tbsp cumin or chili
1 cup crumbled feta
Salt and pepper as needed

Mix everything in a big bowl and refrigerate for 1 hr or so.
Roll the mix into balls, dredge in flour, then fry in olive oil.

Eat plain, or with sour cream or Greek yogurt.

Delish. And healthy!

Glad he made it there safely, Haze.

As for the job…as Nava said: learning experience. You’re fortunate that you can quit the administrative part and still teach. You should know, though: not every management experience is the same, so don’t let this experience turn you off to all management opportunities in the future. Instead, use it to ask better questions if something comes up that you think might be a better fit.

I have an unsurprising case of the donwannas this morning. At least it didn’t snow last night.

Hope those whose Monday isn’t over yet have a good day and those who have survived Monday already have a lovely evening… (Did you know that if you type “what time is it in [city]” into Google, it will tell you the day and time?)

ETA: sounds yummy. Off to add to blog.

Hugs.

Haze - Can you get Fabreeze at your local stores? Works very well on unwanted fabric odors

Up. caffeinated, off to work.

{{{{{IB and Haze}}}}}}

Sticky, oww!

If you bring me a tupperware full of chili, I’d squeal.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ on my last day off before my work week starts. Oh well, at least I don’t work on Monday.

{{{Haze}}} sorry about bf’s dad. Here’s hopin’ for the best possible outcome whatever that may be. I’ll keep him, his family and you in my thoughts and prayers. Also, sorry about the work woes. Like gt said, not all management jobs are bad so don’t let this scare you from future opportunities. Good to know you can go back to teaching.

StickyBuns I want to give you a {{{ }}} but I can’t keep from snerkin’. :stuck_out_tongue:

I took some chicken livers out of da freezer last night. I got me a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for some fried chicken livers. Thus that shall be tonight’s dindin. I also have some fresh spareguts that I need to cook. Fried chicken livers, steamed spareguts and smashed N.O.T. and gravy seems like a strange combo to me but it’s what’s on the menu at Chez Swamp tonight.

Nava good luck on gettin’ the laptop. Sounds like you may yet get to go and pick it up. YAY!

ETA: Haze I second Rosie’s Febreeze suggestion. It does wonders for malodorous furnishings!

I’ve never had Hamentasen. I feel deprived.

I can’t answer for Korea; stateside, you can get a product called Nature’s Miracle in pet stores. It’s an enzyme based cleaning product you spray on pet stains of either type, let set for a half hour, and the stain goes away. In the process, it destroys the odors. Follow up with the Febreze.

Since VWife is an animal hoarder, we get the stuff by the drum.

StickyBuns, your story of applying the knife to the mammary instantly brought to mind the scene from History of the World, Part I where Cloris Leachman as Madame Defarge stabs her (extremely ample) boob with a knitting needle, with sound effect of immediate deflation.

Haze, remeber that it’s always darkest before things go completely black.

Anyone else watch The Marriage Ref last night? Now, there’s a reality/game show I can get behind. I was rolling.

Off to work. The sons have off from school for Casimir Pulaski day. I do not.

Good vibes going out to Irish Boyfriend’s Da. Hope work gets better for you, too.

Sticky, trying to live up to your new nick or something? (Get it? Stick with knife… ) Anyway, I can empathize. I once dropped a heavy exactoblade right into my foot.

I guess I need special reemployment assistance cause the Workforce Central Florida says so. I have to go online and fill out stuff and then watch a presentation and I’ve got an interview on the 15th. This is weird because I’ve only been unemployed for a month. Maybe it’s cause I’m auld. I’ll let you know.

Tupug

So, StickyBuns… how’s the boob this morning?

Afternoon all. Monday is almost over here, with (touch wood) no bad news so far.

{{{Haze & IB}}}

Sticky, I once tried to slice off my left nipple with a razor; I was about to shave my left pit but brushed a little too closely past my boob, slicing a very fine (almost paper-cut fine) cut right across my nipple! Owie owie owie!!!

In other news, we are selling my Yaris and buying a new car. The traffic here gets worse and worse every day, so I wanted something with a little more “presence” on the road and a bit more oomph; I decided on this - called a Nissan Qashqai here but also known as the Dualis in Japan and Australia (and similar to the Rogue in the US of A, but with a different name, since a car named after an Iranian hill tribe would probably not sell well in the American heartland).

Oh, I’m fine, not deflated at all.

Actually, I feel a little deflated. Today I’m trying to get caught up on a bunch of stuff but it seems like no matter where I turn, there’s some sort of complication. It’s making me want to go hide my head under the covers.

And known in the UK as a CashCow!

I’ve been recommended for tenure by my college. I’ll know for certain April 1 when the president makes his decision.

Heeeeey!!! Congrats!!!

Yay Soapy! Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed.

I cleaned the bathroom. Thus, I have been productive for today.

Hazel Plenty of hugs your way!

Scones Look at it this way ----- if you ever need it you now have a very cool “identifying scar”?

OK – I’m confused now. Was it one boob, both boobs, both boobs but at different times, is this a habit with you and ------- I guess asking for pictures would get me slapped, wouldn’t it?
And a hold-over from last week for Wallflower ------ you have my deepest sympathy. My mother never liked me or approved of me much and shortly after Dad passed away she told me she never wanted to see me again. I have given her that since then. Most folks in the clan tell me its her loss and maybe they are right. But I do know for sure that “unfriending” you as she did just plain sucks. Hope someone talked some serious stuff with her some day and that she opens her heart to hear. Hugs your way.

YAY!!!

That’s all I got right now
