MMP - a generally crappy Monday

Not normally a MMP’er, but the crappy monday caught my eye and I feel a need to share.

Crappy Monday began early when after much patience with daughter and many parenting techniques she still continues to act like a brat of the first order. Read her the riot act Sunday evening and now she gets to spend some quality time by herself. I will spare the details, but will say last week included being called by daycare because her kicking and screaming about not taking a nap got so bad she had to be picked up midday.

Then this morning I awake at about 5:00 (an hour and a half earlier than usual) and realize there is a light on downstairs. I go down to find son on the couch playing his DS. Too tired and astonished to get mad. Take away the game and send him to bed. I am sure neither he nor I got any more sleep. So, he is a very tired kid at kindergarten today. Even worse, he made up a bad story for why he was up that early. C’mon, at least make up a convincing lie.

Then my wife forgot her driver’s license at home and had to come back for it. She was sure she would need it if she didn’t, was probably right. I cut my fingernail of all things while shaving, and then almost backed into a truck parked on the street when pulling out to go to work.

Its been a faboo day.

Sure,** howye**, but did you poke yourself in the boob?

:smiley:

(Don’t mind me)

Well, no. So I got that going for me. :smiley:

And good luck with the tenure thing. That has to be one of the most satisfying career accomplishments, outside of bonus time at Goldman Sachs.

Buns, apparently bodacious tatas can save your life. You’re in good company.

Fingers crossed for you Soapy. As an aside, how will you know for certain that you have tenure, if the announcement is on April Fool’s Day???

{{{howye}}} If your daughter and son are anything like my daughter, I know exactly how you feel. How the hell does an almost three year old become so manipulative? When (in Og’s own name) did she learn to push my buttons so effectively? Last night, we were sitting on her bed having a chat about NOT using peeing on the bed/floor/blanket as a way of expressing her anger (and/or avoiding sleeping in her own bed). By the time I had finished my little Mummy diatribe (without so much as a raised tone of voice), HRH smiled at me ever so sweetly and stood up to reveal a massive yellow puddle on her duvet. Little minx!!! It took every ounce of my self-control not to rub her face in the sodden duvet before I shoved it in the washing machine for the second time in 24 hours.

{{{Ruble}}}

I just keep telling myself that she loves me as well as she is able. At least she will still talk with me through yahoo messenger. Plus, she has started working for the census, so hopefully getting out of that tiny house regularly will help her get out of the depressing rut she has gotten herself into. My dad, thankfully, has no problem with me.

ETA: YAY! for Soapy

Multiple appendages crossed, Soapy!

Just made the most divine (and simple) Cajun Chicken Sandwiches with sugar-free Coleslaw for din-dins. Nom nom nom!!! It were goooooood!

Morning. Just catching up and retained… just about nothing.

**Muppet **or **LiLi **(or any other bakers), do you have a recipe for a really chewy Italian bread? I’d really like to make some at home, but I haven’t found a recipe that I like.

I made our two batches of rye bread on Saturday. I have to make two 'cause KT and I have strong disagreements about what makes good rye bread. I don’t like his and he doesn’t like mine. But we both like ours very very much. So I make two.

I did try the granola on Friday, Muppet. We were both kind of meh about it on day 1, but by yesterday, we both thought it was really really good. I guess it gets better with age! I used pumpkin seeds instead of the sesame seeds and raisins instead of cranberries. And just veggie oil 'cause I don’t have either of the fancy oils and wasn’t going to buy them for granola. Anyway, great recipe, especially with some tweaks to make it my own!

Apparently today is National Pig Day (just verified on Wiki so you know it’s true!) so we’re going to Famous Dave’s for dinner. 'Cause what else would you do on National Pig Day other than eat pig parts??

Yeah. Crappy Monday. Yesterday was okay, and Saturday was great, though. Muppet made us about enough food for the next five years- it’s all in the freezer and we’ve added her number to the takeout list, beside the phone. :smiley:

(d&r)
Threw up this morning, feel completely drained. Mum’s got Gnat until after naptime, and I might do some chores very very slowly. I should also eat lunch (or breakfast, or something) and lie around. Whee.

Drat. After our enormous Costco run last week, I have found that there’s still some stuff we need- I’m nealrly out of anti-nausea pills, f’instance. I think I’ll get half a refill, if I can. A full one lasts for three months, and come hell or high water, I will have had this kid in thirty days.

My husband just got a new cell number. I sent him a loving text. To the wrong number. I am so embarassed.

They sure came in handy for me a few years back when I tripped stepping up onto a sidewalk and only bruised the squishy parts :wink:

swampy - there must be a Jewish community somewhere in 'lanter- this is the right season to get some, but go today if you can - Purim was yesterday and it’s only a one day gig

Rosie I live three hours south of Etlanner. I ain’t hankerin’ for anything that bad! :smiley:

Welcome howye! Yep, that is one sucky day goin’ on. It will get better. Or it well get over and done. Either way is good, right?

I had chicken noodle soup for lunch. MMMMMMMMMM… fresh, homemade soup right out of the freezer. Just thaw and nuke. Hmmmmm… reckon I could market that? Would y’all eat “Swampy’s Thaw and Nuke Soup”? Would Campbell’s cringe in fear from the competition? Would people cringe in fear in the frozen food section of markets everywhere?

Oh and to add to today’s productivity, I made a ‘nanner puddin’. I’m sure OYKW will squee when he finds out.

Hey, my hubby is on his way to Augusta, Athens and Etlannter right now!

My Monday wasn’t so bad, except for driving to work before dawn in a driving downpour.

Ow, sticks!

::crossing fingers for soapy::

So Friday I went to get the results of my glucose sensor. It’s not too bad, but it ain’t good. So they put me on insulin, which is a big pain, lemme tell ya. I have to test my glucose 30 minutes before I eat, then inject myself in the belly with 5 units if it’s over 100. It’s only been under 100 once this whole weekend. :frowning: Then at bedtime I check my sugar again, and give myself 10 units. ti doesn’t hurt, really, it’s just a PITA. Whatever it takes, though.

I also sat with the nutritionist and talked about carbs. I’m now keeping a food journal, and trying to eat only 50-60 carbs per meal. It’s not that hard to do, except for dessert. Wah!

Hugs and kisses…

Soapy if hubby is an ice cream freak, tell him to go to The Creamery on the campus of UGA while he is in Athens. Ice cream heaven! UGA is, after all, a cow college and cow colleges are reknowned for their ice cream. Also, since it has apparently become the in thing for animals to wander the interstates in and around Etlanner (in recent weeks a zebra and a bison) do tell him to be careful if he’s drivin’. :smiley:

{{{Rebo}}} no fun but it will keep the diabetes in check.

Mondays are Le Poo…what should have been a quick 1 1/2 hour flight back to Paris this morning has turned into an 11 hour nightmare and includes lost luggage and a missed very important meeting. Grrrrr. :mad:

oh well…had a fantastic weekend for one of my best and oldest friends Hen Weekend. I seriously need to dry out and de-tox and get some sleep.

Hey everyone! {{{hugs}}} yays and boos to those who need them. Life here is still sucking, and it just gets worse, particularly with regard to the horrible, evil, soon-to-be (hopefully) ex. There is now a dv incident, complete with a restraining order (against me, just because he beat me to the courthouse by minutes, the jerk,) and now he doesn’t want to sign the dissolution papers just to get under my skin further. Gah, as if that is possible. It’s a good thing I have only two years until The Boy graduates and we (the two younger kids, if they want to, and I) can get the hell out of this place and go home.

So, I am rather depressed over this and all the other not-so-trivial stuff going on. I have one secret coming “sometime” which will help me get back to Washington (the state) so that is a good thing. Also Jess, Randy and the grandbabies are moving back to Kodiak this month for two years so they can stay between the four parents and will be able to put some money away so that they can leave the state as well. Jess and I will have lived here for the last 21 years come April, and along with Naomi (daughter #2) who is already back home we are all heartily tired of Alaska. It is a stunning place to visit, it sucks to live here.

Grandbabies, if I can drag myself out of this funk today Iwill get some photos up and share them. Tea is 2 1/2, weighs 26 lbs and is the classic textbook Terrible Two! She’s still my angel baby, and she fills my heart with joy when she squeals “Gamma” and throws herself into my arms. She is completely potty trained (sorry Dotty) but insists on being accompanied and must be completely nekkid in order to go potty. She also likes to go frequently, even if she has just a tiny tinkle, but considering HRH’s laundry load I won’t be complaining anymore about dressing, undressing, and re-dressing Tay-Bear! Toren is 6 1/2 months, he was born two years and four days after his sister. He weighs 22 lbs and is not fat! He looks just like his sister, and they both look mostly like their mother. They are gorgeous kids, and they make me happy. Tea loves Wow Wow Wubzy on tv, which I do not, but Oobie is pretty cool, and she has learned to sing the “What’s Gonna Work? Teamwork!” when she is helping out with picking up toys, etc.

I am co-writing what I hope will turn into a fabulous bestseller. (Hey, if I am gonna dream, I might as well dream big.) It’s geared to the Twilight crowd, only with intelligent writing and a big nod to Lovecraft. There will be no sparkly monsters, there will be tentacles! There will be romance, but if we lose the little girls who sigh over Edward (urp) and Bella (blech) I hope we lure in some nerdy boys who like a bit of sci-fi to balance out a bit of snogging.

So, there ya’all go, my current life in a nutshell. Where is my faery godmother?

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I’d rather have ten lunches than to be left alone with my administrative duties all day.
