MMP - a generally crappy Monday

Here’s a picture of a resin necklace and a paperweight that I made in order to give you some idea what in the heck I’m talking about.

That’s great news, Soapy! I’m keeping all my fingers crossed for you.

**kai, **I’m sorry life is throwing such a shitstorm at you. I don’t have any advice, just hugs.

Kids are the greatest. You’re right, howye, they can be so frustrating, but then they do something that just makes the world a much brighter place.

I made another low fat meal tonight.

Cook one package of small shell pasta, according to directions.

Brown up one pound of italian sausage. The recipes said to use they type with casings removed and then break it up on your own, but I bought some pre-ground italian sausage.

After the sausage is cooked, remove to a paper towel line plate or bowl.

In the pan, on medium heat, add two cloves of minced garlic and two teaspoons of sage. Cook about 30 seconds, or, until aromatic.

Add one 19 ounce can of drained and rinsed white or cannelini beans, three cups of fresh spinach and two cups of low sodium, low fat chicken broth. Bring to a boil and then simmer long enough to let the spinach wilt a little.

Finally, add the drained, cooked pasta, and the cooked ground sausage to the pan. Stir and cook until warmed through again. Add a little kosher or sea salt and some fresh, cracked pepper.

Serve up.

It doesn’t sound like much, but it was actually very, very good.

The work day was long, the commute sucked, and I’m tired. I think I’m going to go to bed early tonight.

The meatloaf story is funny, rebo. Our black lab, once stole a carrot cake right off the middle of the dining room table. My table is BIG. The thing is, the cake was still in the container from the store, and we hadn’t even broke seal. He managed to break into it and eat the whole cake.

He also once stole a five pound box of chocolates off the middle of the same table. I was terrified he was going to get sick or die, but neither happened.

Olive never eats stuff on the table, but she knocks it around. We once woke up to some leftover chicken scattered liberally across our kitchen floor.

I soaked the pillow and the casing in water mixed with baking soda and detergent last night. They seem okay now, but we’ll have to see what they smell like once they’ve dried.

Lunchtime.

Cajun Chicken Sandwiches with Coleslaw. I found the website through tastespotting (damn you Muppet!!!)

Home, worked all day, I hate Mondays.

Good luck, Soapy! : crosses inappropriate appendages :

Rebo, I had a neighbor’s cat walk in and suck down an entire plate of corn once.

Glad things are better, howye.

{{{{kai}}}} Tentacles? : perks up :

{{{{Haze}}}}

Thoughts and prayers sent, FCM.

Dotty, that story reminds me of that Rodney Dangerfield quote from Caddyshack: “Now I know why tigers eat their young.”;)

I’m going to bed now. Really, I am.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Thus beginneth my work week. Le Sigh.

ShinyCat and Taters those recipes sound yum!

Rebo at least Lucy is neat about it.

As the weather people promised, it’s rainy, cool and ick out. Woo and Hoo.

Need to go feed rumbly tummy. It’s gettin’ real demandin’! Purtification must commence also, as much as I don juan do it!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

I got the laptop back! WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Yay Nava!

Am hungry but too lazy to get dinner. Hmm.

Glad you got your laptop back, Nava. I hate to be without mine, even though I can usually borrow TVMan’s while mine is being fixed.

Today we have a big lunch so GilaMonster and I will be kept busy and off the streets.

Cute necklace and paperweight, Pie.

Some days, I think it would be more practical to surgically attach a laptop. If only I could use the same machine for work and home! (OK…not really.)

Recipes added to blog. All sound yummy. And yes, I blame Muppet for many of my food-related discoveries.

Have ingested Cheerios and tea.

Off to get ready and stuff…

Afternoon, mumpers. My Monday was not at all crappy although it was very busy. My Tuesday, however, has been crappy - I had a slightly sore eye yesterday and by this morning it was really painful, light-sensitive and completely red. So off to A&E I go…get to spend the morning with the drunks and the potheads…and arrived at work nearly 3hrs later with a bottle of eye drops, then headed off to a 1.5hr meeting where folks were just moaning and whinging about nothing important.

At least it’s lunchtime now and I can spend the afternoon doing something more productive!

WTF is in the water today?

  • Three miles from home, on a windy back road with a speed limit of 45, I’m doing 60 with some moron 20 feet off my back bumper.

  • Coming into the southwest side of Suffolk, I’m in a line of 20 or so cars, bumper to bumper at 65, and the brake lights ahead of me start coming on. I have to brake hard myself, and there is nearly a California style chain reaction wreck. The pickup truck behind me wound up in the ditch avoiding my rear end.

  • Not 30 seconds after I’m done saying “Oh SHIT!!!” from that, then some moron comes from behind, on a double yellow no less, and is trying to get to the head of the line. He gets abot 3 ahead of me, and nearly runs the guy to the right into the ditch to get out of the way of oncoming traffic.

  • East of Suffolk, I’m in the leftmost lane of three doing 70 with no other cars around for a hundred yards, and some other moron is on my ass flashing his light s for me to get out of his way. Fuck him, I stayed put, because if I moved I’d miss my leftside exit.

  • I’m trying to merge close to the base, and when I looked, there was a truck about 200 feet behind me. I started to move left, and that jerk had come flying up trying to block me.

Og, I’d give my left cajone for a .50 cal crew served machine gun this morning…

Up, caffeinated, off to work. Gonna go watch hockey tonight with the gang.

BBBobbio, sounds like your commute looked like the last chase scene in The Road Warrior. A .50 would be nifty.

Boo stoopid meetings BooFae!

Yay for Nava’s laptop!

Whoohoo Nava!

bobbbio sometimes people need to be slapped

My lost bag is lost no more! It was delivered this morning so Tuesday started out well…but then I have conf calls all afternoon and then the best part is I have to complete my French tax forms this afternoon. Yay!

Bobbio - full moon, nuff said

Good morning! No residual effects from the stolen meatloaf. Can you believe she was begging for scraps while I was making dinner? Pig dog. The soup was yummerific. I brought some for breakfast.

I did our taxes this weekend. Looks like we have a big enough refund to get a new roof! Yay! Sort of. I’d rather go on vacation. Le sigh.

Bobbio, that sounds like traffic in Houston every day!

Yay for found luggage and delivered laptops!

Glad your eye is better, BooFae.

I wish I had some work to do. I guess I’ll go do some online training. <yawn>

Good Tuesday Morning.

Hugs to all who need them.

rebo’s got a counter surfer.

sticks, I thought maybe you were dremeling doggie nails.

bobbio, I think there are more than a few over-stressed people out there who are cracking under the pressure and it’s showing up on the roads. Be careful out there.

Yay on the returned laptop, nava!

Last night’s dinner was burgers and roasted potatoes. It t’were good. Tonight will be chicken boobies and green beans I’m thinking.

Looks like a good Nova on PBS tonight about Pluto. Poor demoted Pluto.

Off to the job boards.

Tupug

For those of you not following my every move on Facebook, I found this at my local grocery store yesterday. I was passing a (nearly) empty freezer case and it was one of the funniest things I’ve seen in awhile.

Today has been a generally crappy Tuesday (just normal grrr stuff), so I thought we could all use a smile!

Soon as I saw that, I knew a criminal canine had to be involved. We used to have a dog that was adept at hopping up onto the counter to find and eat bread.

As for the Dremel - it may be time to upgrade to a Foredom flex-shaft tool. Since you’re not holding the motor in your hand, there’s less weight to manage and less vibration. They’re not cheap, but if you’re going to be doing this a lot, it may be worth the upgrade so you can get more work done with less pain. Here’s an example of one kitted up with accessories for jewelers. There are lots of other kits and of course, it’s all available a la carte. There is also a flex-shaft accessory that fits most Dremel tools, but IME, it’s not as good. By the time you spend nearly $80 for the shaft, chuck and motor holder, you may find yourself wondering why you didn’t just get the Foredom, especially since there’s no foot controller with the Dremel version.

DH’s birthday went well. Cake was decent, for a grocery store cake. I’d wanted to do a better grade of cake, but it was a tossup between keeping the truck usable with a new tire or a cake. The truck won. I should have had the tire shop pull out all of the screws and nails so if anyone asked about the cake, I could hand them a pile of sharp pointy bits and say “Here it is” but thankfully, that was not necessary.

News from the land of particle board… we’ve been told that the roof at the Ikea distribution center near Washington DC collapsed in the recent blizzards. As a result, the two bookcases that we need to finish off the family room are unavailable and there are many empty spots forming at Ikea stores in the region.
