It’s SNOWING! We had a thunder storm last night. Lightning hit a tree across the street. No damage that we could see. We didn’t lose power.
Then it hailed then sleet. Now, just as hubby is taking off for work, its snowing big soft flakes. It’s sticking to the grass, but not the road yet. I made hime take the 4WD truck anyway. He laughed at me. The problem is, he’s never driven in snow. He keeps telling me he’s a professional driver, but I know how to drive in snow, and I know he CAN’T!
I know this seems like no news, but it doesn’t snow here often. I think we had one day of white grass in November. None last year or the year before.
Maybe I’ll build a snow dwarf (not enough for a whole “man”)
oh yeah, HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
I got Hubby candy and a much needed watch. He said I have to wait until he gets off tomorrow morning. It’s a surprise. :dubious: (It’s an “I forgot” surprise.)
fcm, glad you were able to fill us in on fcdad. We was worried. Now, go take care of yourself and put Flawduh on a back burner. Take it nice and slow.
Another tres frigid morning here. The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] had frost all over her car when she left for work. The forecast was for below freezing temps for several hours but I’m crossing my fingers we never made it there. My accuweater says it’s 39 right now. The rest of the week is supposed to warm up. Yay!
I did the olive oil saute with the Swiss Chard. The leaves were a tad strong tasting but it was okay.
I watched the first part of the dog show last night but was too tired to stay up past ten for the toy breeds which is my favorite part. Oh, well, I’ll have to go to the web site and have a looky.
Mr. Anachi and I exchanged cards this morning and we shall see if he keeps the “no flarhs” bargain. Think I’ll make him a nummy fried chicken dinner tonight. Diet’s shot to hell this week already so what the hey. Anybody want some girl scout thin mint cookies that I need to [del]get rid of[/del] donate before I eat them?
I like how the V-Day wishes have gotten progressively smaller. In keeping with that trend:
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
Which, to be perfectly honest, is about how much I like Valentine’s Day right now. Meredith #2 turned out to be taken when I asked her out yesterday. Bleh. That 7 am workout is starting to sound not so bad. But for now, I’m hoping that my friend’s birthday party in Hartford will allow for some fun, if’n y’all know what I mean.
In happier news, I finally got my LiveJournal layout doing what I want it to. You can all go look by observing that my LJ username is quite literally staring you in the face. Oh, and I’m glad to hear that FCD and FCM are doing alright. My best wishes for his speedy convalescence.
Glad to hear FCD’s came through surgery ok. More thoughts and wishes for both of you, FCM.
Great weekend here. **KeithT **came on Friday. We had lunch with some friends on Saturday. Lots of fun. They’re a great couple. They’ve only been together since October, but we’re all hearing wedding bells for them. I hope!
Then we went to RPI’s Big Red Freakout with a really big group of friends and their friends. That went much better than I was expecting. **KeithT **even met and talked to my ex-boyfriend and they both survived just fine. Everyone else seemed to get along too - including the two couples from my group of friends who are going to be attendants or whatever for our wedding. So big relief there.
Then I got sick on Sunday. Bleh. I still sound like I’ve been smoking a pack a day for the last 30 years. Which is kinda difficult considering I’m only 27. And I’ve never smoked. It’s making talking on the phone at work today a ton of fun. I really just wanna go back to bed!
Aerin is sending loud screamy get-well-soon messages to fcd.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
And happy Mr. Lissar’s birthday. This is also just about the day that we met, seven years ago. It’s all romantic and stuff. Today is either laundry or kitchen cleaning day. I haven’t decided yet. And then dinner out and movies after. Should be good.
I want a ten pound Whitman’s sampler to munch on. Ok, I’ve never seen one that big but maybe one of the big ones like they have at Eckerd’s. I might have to go get me one.
I worried the chard might be strong when you mentioned the leaves were so big, puggie. But I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I got a wonderful Valentine’s Day gift – a birdfeeder! The perfect gift for me. (The only thing better would be shoes.) It’s is all-glass, with arch windows and … solar-powered little lights! The birdies, if they so choose, can eat by the lights of the birdfeeder. But, in reality, I think it’s just to look pretty at night. Since birds (with the exception of owls) are not nocturnal.
Bats! I have a bat house! I haven’t put it up at my new house because it’s a new neighborhood and rather devoid of trees. So I don’t know where to put it. But bats are wonderful for mosquito control. I had lots of them at my old house. Bats, not mosquitos, because of, you know, the bats.
Eckerd’s makes me think of vacation. Because we always go to South Carolina, where there are scads of Eckerd’s. We don’t have them here. So when I hear “Eckerd’s” I think suntan lotion and nail-polish remover.
Why nail polish remover, you ask? Because I rarely paint my nails. If I do, I’m usually on vacation where there is lounge-around time (unless you were a Mommy on vacation, which just means The Same Amount of Work in Gorgeous Surroundings).
But anyway, I always have to buy nail-polish remover on vacation, since it’s the only time nails get painted, and because I’m a generic shopper, I alway buy the store brand … so for the last 20 years the only nail-polish remover I ever have in the house is Eckerd’s, and there isn’t an Eckerd’s for 300 miles.
I know somebody who graduated from Eckerd College. I asked him what aisle that would be on. He was not amused. I, however, <snerked> for quite a while over the idea of “Diplomas, Aisle 3A.”
Can I make this even weirder? CVS bought Eckerd’s out around here several years a go. Then, a few years later, Eckerd’s bought out CVS and started building big uber Eckerd’s stores. Makes me wonder if maybe in a few more years CVS will again buy out Eckerd’s and build even more uber CVS’s, then Eckerd’s will turn around and buy out CVS and build even more still uber Eckerd’s… when will the madness end!
That is weird! I don’t care for the CVS stores here. Don’t like the layout or the merchandise particularly. However, I do like Wahlgreens and there WILL be one right across the street from CVS. Reminds me of the old days of Woolworth’s and Kresges. (Feel free to make geezer jokes.)
Good morning all and [B]HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TOO!**
I’m sorry I’m late to the party, but I was pretty sick yesterday. I was so sick I never left the bed except to go to the bathroom. I’m better today, in so far as all fluids are staying where they should, but I still feel pretty icky. I came into work today because I have a dumb-ass report due this week and I didn’t want to get any further behind.
I’m sending my best wishes for FCD’s speedy recovery from his surgery. Also happy birthday wishes to all who are having birthdays.
I had a light dusting of frozen snow on my car this morning when I left for work, but that was it for accumulation. They say we may see some more snow on Friday morning. Yeah, whatever.
Lessee, other than the above, I got bupkus. I’ll try and check in later.
