What's the occasion in the MMP?

In case you want something to celebrate:

It’s also the birthday of one of the two high school friends I still maintain contact with.

Party on and have a Happy Moanday!!

First!

It’s nice and sunny out there today. Weather app says “Wake up and smell the roses. It’s fucking sunny”, and promises me 13C/55F up to 15C/59F mostly sunny. I’ll take that as a win.

Busy day at irk, after a rather idle Sunday in which I did not do anything that I really should have done, and various things that I probably should not have done! Oh well, it’s Monday and a new week so I’ll try to do better. Early finish though, I’m getting my hair cut at 4pm so I need to log off a quarter of an hour earlier to give me time to get there. Kids are back at school so the doting parents will be rushing to collect them at that point. Then a trip to the pet shop for supplies, and some exercise after that.

I have to go to the office on campus tomorrow too, not looking forward to the journey on public transport but apparently campus is quite deserted.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 54 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 75 and N.O.S. for the day. Today I shall fire up the smoker and smoke up four racks of ribs and two Boston < snerk > BUTTS! < snerk > Also, 'tis men’s night over to the church house so we shall betake ourselves there around fourish to get stuff prepped and so forth. Should be enough to keep us outta trouble for the day, I reckon.

Today is also the Boston Marathon, so get out there and run! HAH! If you see me runnin’ you best run as well cause there’s sump’n awful after me. It’s also national poker day for those of us who prefer sump’n more sedate.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

swampy - combine the two and have a poker run!! FCD’s Harley group used to do that. If I understand how it worked, you’d ride to various sites, getting a card at each one. Then at the end, the one with the best hand would win. Frankly, I liked it better when they’d visit various and sundry ice cream shops in the tri-county area!

Good morning. We have an expected high of 73 degrees and a zero percent chance of rain. However, it’s dark right now, so I have no idea what the weather is like because I didn’t look. I did sleep with my window open all night, as I have for the last several nights.

I was supposed to go into the office today, but I am feeling a little puny and have a little bit of heating up and then chills. Not much at the moment, but enough to be uncomfortable with going to the office and having people freak out. I need to go down there and get a car ready to take back to GSA. I could ask a tech down there to do it for me, but I feel uncomfortable doing so. It’s one of my many jobs to deal with the fleet stuff, and he ended up taking a few of the cars in for service for me, so I don’t want to run this stuff into the ground.

I dunno, I may dash down there after a Teams meeting this morning. It depends on how I feel AND what hit my inbox over the three-day weekend.

I ended up knocking some more weeding out, plus pulling up sod along a portion of one side of the house and then pounding in edging. I was going to put bark in there after lining it with weed cloth, but I think I may fill it with stones instead. I can get the stones from my big garden which is too steep for anything but weeds and rocks to grow. I have probably spent thousands of dollars trying to get stuff to grow in there, but it eventually all dies out. I can grow stuff anywhere else, but that “garden” is just worthless. They filled it with junk fill dirt and it’s got nothing but stones and boulders in it. It’s behind a retaining wall, but they should have put in at least a couple of tiers and three tiers in one portion of that garden. Every time I planted something in there, I would amend the dirt with bags and bags of good dirt and compost, but it all just disappears. I have so many rocks and stones that I would have no problem filling up the area I referenced earlier. I literally have piles of them in some areas because at one point we were going to haul them away, but it never happened.

Welp, it’s time for the second cup of coffee, but I’d rather lie down and take a nap.

Several occasions for this MMP; it’s my birthday this week, I get my annual physical checkup, and it’ll be 2 weeks since my 2nd injection, so I should be fully immunized (but still not taking risks).

51F heading for 70F and not a sign of rain. Did lose my old brown jacket sometime over the weekend, have had it for at least 15 years and will miss it as it’s one of those pieces of clothing that just fits

Taters, feel better and enjoy the gardening.

swampy, I’m with you; I enjoy running, I could watch it all day…

boo fae, enjoy the hair cut.

OK, onward into the week!

'Tis Monday and much caffeine is being had. Yesterday was incredible, not because I did anything actually incredible but because I didn’t have to help anyone else do anything. Which was incredible. I got in a “so there” run (yes, I’m still bitter) and got a bunch of odds and ends done.

What I find somewhat funny is that even though I was working on the house most of the day, it’s not actually any cleaner. Most of my time was spent framing things I’d meant to frame for a year and cooking, so the whole places looks like an explosion of laundry and pots, pans and dishes but at least they’re all clean. And I made an Italian sheet cake with almond icing while the kids went out to ride their bikes.

Anyway, it’s early-ish (for my family, not for me) and I just heard a vacuum cleaner go on, which can’t be good. Guess I need to investigate. Gonna be a warm day today - around 70F (perfect for another so there run) - before it gets chilly tomorrow.

It’s the Feast of Ælfheahof Canterbury!
And someone swiped the diverter from the belt(all 3’x3’x4.6’ and 50lbs. of it. And when I turned on the fan, it was filled with white powder that blew all over me. Hopefully it was cocaine, and not asbestos or some such [hypochondriac]mesothelioma[/hypochondriac]. Well played, TVCTPMO, well played.

Claiming one of my supplemental sick days for vaccine side effects. The injection site is a bit tender and I’m quite tired.

I could get behind both those days in the OP, especially the garlic.

Tomorrow’s schedule calls for a visit to the surgeon. It’s day eleven since the accident.

Morning, all. Another sunny day in SoCal. This is the first Monday of our new hybrid school schedule, so we’ll see just how confused the students (and teachers!) are with Manic Monday. Got two planters partially filled over the weekend, and the third is just waiting for some more dirt before I plant pole beans and mammoth sunflowers. Hopefully tomorrow.

Ever notice how a 7 pound cat can exert 25 pounds of force in one small area when they feel like it. That was Pixel trying to sleep on my hip this morning. No rest for the wicked, I guess.

Hope everybody has a safe and productive week!

Woke up to pain in one eye of the kind that usually means a trip to the eye doc. I don’t wanna, so I’m going to try upping the steroid drops to see if that helps. Been down this road many times and know the drill well.

Other than that, I feel good, and it feels so good to be good after that post-vaxx misery! After making some phone calls, I’ll go for a long walk.

Happy Current Age, MetalMouse! I like to celebrate the last days of one age before a birthday has us celebrating the great new age.

quietly, good luck this week! That sounds like a confusing schedule, but I bet the kids adapt quickly. Do you still have some students who are remote-learning-only?

cupcake, best of luck at the surgeon’s appointment tomorrow.

nettie, hope the fatigue wears off fast.

doggio, I read the article. He was big on learning, so as long as he wasn’t harsh on heretics, I’m a fan. But he was killed for refusing to be ransom for the Vikings? How does one refuse to be ransom? And why? No doubt about it: were I kidnapped by Vikings, I’d develop Stockholm syndrome PDQ.

wordy, sounds like you got important stuff done, so screw the cleaning. And hope you get in another so-there run!

I love the poker run idea, Moooom!

It’s the burning of the snowman (Sechseläuten) festival today in Zurich. Except it’s not in Zurich, because they don’t want to attract crowds. So it’s in Andermatt, which is some hours away from Zurich and still covered in snow.

The faster the snowman burns, the better the summer. Who needs a groundhog when you can burn something?

Worked, walked, made lunch, worked some more and now am letting the cleaning solution work on the front patio. I decided I would do the cleaning in patches instead of doing the whole thing at once, and did the the first patch on Saturday. Today’s the second patch, and I’ll do another tomorrow. Not on Wednesday, because it’s supposed to rain. And now the timer went off, so it’s time for me to do something outside. Where it’s above freezing, but not by much.

Greetings from Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. FCD’s neurologist wanted him to come to the ER here. Not sure if he’ll be admitted or what. Great fun… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Will be thinking of you both. :crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3::crossed_fingers:t3:

And when it’s all over (in 30 minutes🤕), I want to sign up for one of those ice cream poker rides. Someone else can have my sprinkles.

FCM, hugs to both you & FCD. Let us know what happens.

Yes indeed.

Evening all.

I missed the yays for the impending Fairychat addition last MMP, because my irk schedule has me forgetting what day it is. Also {{somewhat broken people}}

I’m not in the best of moods today, if I’m honest- irk was somewhat irksome, and I’m getting very very tired of housemates. It was very sunny here earlier, so I assumed I was getting a bit too hot because I was sat in front of the window- until I opened the bedroom door and got hit by a wave of heat. Turns out someone had done their washing, stuck it on all the radiators to dry, turned the heating up to max and swanned off to work…

The good news is the couple that are utterly oblivious to the fact that they are not the only people living here (leave stuff everywhere, constantly turn the heat on full when they’re wearing shorts and a t-shirt when no-one else is cold-or, like today just want to dry their washing a bit faster- hog the kitchen from 6-7.45pm most days, can’t turn a tap off etc) are apparently moving out at the end of the month.

I really hope so; aside from their current annoyance, they’re due to turn from a couple into 3 people in June, and this place is so very very unsuitable for a baby even the thought of them not moving in time wakes me up in a cold sweat. I do find my nasty side hoping they move somewhere with bills not included, so they realise how much energy they’re wasting.

Anyway; I have my regular moanday online meeting to attend, so hopefully that will de-grump me a bit.

We are on your side here Mom

Looks very likely that he’ll be admitted tonight and I’m guessing surgery tomorrow. If so, I’ll spend the night at my mom’s. Right now, they’re drawing blood and he should get his MRI shortly. Not what we planned for today…

More when I know more.
