Scary stuff. If you don’t mind my asking, what’s wrong that requires hospitals and surgery?
Thinking of you and FCD, FCM, dear, and hoping for the very best news possible. When you get a chance and aren’t too wiped, please fill us in on the details. Big hugs.
Daniel, the guy who has done a lot of work on our house, came by this morning. You may recall that the framed wooden awning over the front door has been leaking between the top end of the awning and the house, causing some rot at the bottom of the door and the sides of the house.
He said he could come over tomorrow to fix it (possibly building a new cover). I’m surprised how quickly he can come, knowing how busy he is. Mrs. L.A. is planning to pay for it. I didn’t offer because I don’t want to offend her; but I have some available cash just in case.
Coming up on 13 o’clock, and I’ve just had breakfast: a hot Italian sausage wrapped up in a parmesan wrap.
It appears to be a possible issue with the spinal surgery he had last year. That’s why we’re in Baltimore right now. Still waiting to hear what’s going on with the MRI. I hate that I have to wait in the ER lobby. Trying not to worry too much…
{{{{{FCM}}}}} You can share them with FCD when you can, I think he’d appreciate them more coming from you…
Take care of yourself, too.
FCM, hugs and best healing wishes to both you and FCD.
Echoing this {{{{{ FCD & FCM}}}}} feed yourself and stay hydrated, rest when you can. Knit or crochet or read to give yourself a little break if possible. I wish I was there so I could bring you sandwiches, coffee or tea and a good paperback to read.
He just texted they finished the MRI and now he’s getting a ST scan. I need to find food…
Waiting for medical news can be brutal. I wish we were there to entertain you, FCM. I’m sure the hospital would love having this motley crew on the premises, especially when I start juggling with buzz saws.
Hang in there. We’re with you in spirit (which is probably safer, since I can’t juggle).
Hugs to you and FCD Mooooooom.
silenus, you probably already know this, but that and a cloak of invisibility are just two of cats’ main strength points.
nut, glad it won’t be too much longer with the roommates from hell. I have a feeling that once they have a kid, they will get payback in spades.
A poker run is pretty much what Mooooooom described. There is an entry fee (the ones that I’ve participated in tend to be $10-50 per rider and ~1/2 that for passengers) that gets split between the winner and the charity that benefits.
Irked with a slow desktop all day, but got things done until the last hour when the system kept getting hung up when I was doing adjustments. Left with a headache that a nice bourbon and seltzer has taken care of.
Don’t forget to leave cookies and milk out for Snoop Dog and Willie tonight (4-20 eve).
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
And of course, the cat picks today to pull the “hop dimensions to find a nap spot and freak out the human” trick. Add to that digestive woes (Googling says could easily be a Moderna side effect. Yes, I am neurotic about this). Yay. Did eat what the label claimed was two servings of live-culture yogurt.
Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. Actually, been home for a bit but took care of some stuff first Assorted meats got smoked today. The < snerk> BUTT! < snerk > and all but one slab of ribs now resides in da freezer. The other slab will become tomorrow’s sup along with some vegetative matter TBD.
{{{MOOOOOOM and FCD}}} hope all is goin’ well. Please let us know as soon as you can.
Hello All.
{{{FCM & FCD}}} Hope they get his pain sorted toot sweet.
We’re just back from the bustling metropolis of The Dalles. We went to Bi-Mart for a big bag o’ birdseed, which they were out of, and Safeway for bacon and some other foodstuffs. Then we had a late lunch/early dinner at the River Tap brew pub. The food was good but it was noisy. I had an Asian stir fry over lime rice with Thai peanut sauce. Wifey had a pastrami rueben with a green salad. She says she intends to work our way through every brew pub in that town this summer. I’m down with that.
Chillage ensues.
Evening all. Nappage was accomplished and a couple of jobs (unloading dishwasher, folding underwear, washing soccer stuff) were completed. Also recovered two items I thought I had lost, the jacket I mentioned earlier (it had been left at the field we took pictures at and the photographer found it) and an 1889 Silver Dollar that had fallen out of my referee shirt and into the bag of practice shirts, found when I went to wash them today. So it has been a very good day.
{{Sean}}; you just can’t seem to catch a *(^$%#% break. Take care.
{{FCM}}. Hope the reports are good.
Nut, hope the most troublesome of the roommates get out while the getting is good. Last time I had that many roommates it was in college and I think we were better beahved than some of those ‘grown-up’ folks…
Dicey, hope the snowman burning forecasts a nice, long summer.
quietly, hope the school schedule stayed at SNAFU level and never made it to FUBAR.
nellie, I think the story was that the Vikings wanted to sell him back for ransom, but he refused to go back home or ask anyone to raise a ransom for him, so being of no value, just another mouth to feed, the Vikings killed him. I think.
OK, the King’s Burger has been consumed. Physical tomorrow at the Drs. and need to have a bag of stuff outside for Purple Heart to collect. All y’all take care.
FCD will have 3 more vertebrae fused tomorrow. I got to talk to the surgeon before I left. The disk above his last surgery blew out and led to nerve impingement. So he’ll be fused from T9 all the way down. I plan to see him as soon as they’ll let me in tomorrow. The wanted to keep him reclined for the night to minimize inflammation.
Meanwhile, I am exhausted. Gonna crash shortly.
mooooom and FCD~I’ll being holding you both in my heart and hands tomorrow.
Yum. Fish. This time it was branzino with some kosher salt and tarragon, baked in the oven at 375ºF. On the side was cauliflower-and-cheese-sauce-inna-bag that I nuked. Mrs. L.A. had tartar sauce. I had a couple slices of blue cheese for ‘dessert’. Of course, Mrs. L.A. had white wine, and I had red. I will drink white wine… but only if we’re out of red.
FCM, I"m so relieved the neurologist was able to diagnose the issue and that it’s treatable. I’m puzzled as to why the ortho doc didn’t suggest the possible spinal “blow-out” as a potential cause of FCD’s issues. We’ll all be cheering him on–and the surgeon–tomorrow. (Or “today” by the time you see this.)
That makes sense. I just never thought of hostages as having the power to make those decisions.
Boo says it so well. So I’m copying part of her post. And I wish Boo could be there to help.
12 minutes, 57 seconds, which predicts a fantastic summer. The shortest was 5:07 minutes in 1974 and the longest was 43:34. It was canceled last year due to the lockdown. Not sure if it’s supposed to help predict spring, which has been cold.
Got to go to the store today. Way too much time spent in front of the computer for work, etc., and this week will be even more stress. I have to keep reminding myself that we’re safe, healthy and have enough money to keep ourselves fed and housed. Still stressed, though.
Socially distanced hugs to FCM and FCD and may the surgery go better than expected.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to work. And something from last week’s MMP, I did vacuum the inside of the patio screen door. Which had more than a few cobwebs and insect husks, since there was a small hole in the screen. Which looks like a small woodland creature tried to chew its way inside, after somebody in the sunroom mouthed off at it.
