I just wanna say “Yay for Lesbians with Brownies!”
Gotta run. Working today.
I just wanna say “Yay for Lesbians with Brownies!”
Gotta run. Working today.
Today, I go shopping! Off to the bus stop in six minutes.
Back from gardening and, yes, further plant buying. Going out to plant stuff in a moment. Might limit it to planting containers cuz I can do that in the garage. It’s really hot out. It’s allegedly 79 Murrkin degrees, but feels lots hotter.
Hope the party is lots of fun, Taters. Yours too, swampy. Off to have another glass of water…and then to plant…
Happy Saturday, everyone!

As soon as hubby returns from the license tab place, I’ll head off to the mall to exchange the tennis shoes I bought him, then head to Costco to pick up the party supplies (plates, cups, etc), then come home and finish the cleaning.
I have to admit I’ve been kind of slow about the cleaning this morning. I did scrub out the shower stall and toilet in my bathroom. I have finish up there, though, and clean my sink and vanity and the hubby’s sink and vanity, and wipe out the swimming pool of a tub up there. Then wash the floors downstairs, scrub the powder room, vaccuum upstairs, and run the vacuum downstairs one last time for good measure. Although I vacuumed downstairs yesterday, the dog is a notorious shedder, so I figure I’ll pick up any new hairs that he shed.
Tomorrow, I don’t want to do ANYTHING but read one of the books I received for my birthday. I think I’m entitled to that. Plus, the weather promises to be crappy, so it’ll be a perfect day for reading.
Maybe I’ll bake some brownies too. Curse you Swampy, for making me think of them.
I’m sittin’ on my ass today. Well, I did fix up a pot roast for the crockpot. I’m feeling kinda punk - so I have decreed it’s Dolores’ Sitting on Her Ass Day.
It is BEEYOOOTEEFULL out today no matter what rigs has to say about it. I, for one love the heat and humidity, provided of course that there’s a nice cool indoors to return to.
I went grocery shopping with the Kid this morning. Note: Don’t do that again if my intent is to “stick to the list”.
Calling it an obscene amount of money spent shopping would be an understatement.
I did load up on weekend groceries and beerverages. Child works at 4 til closing then is going out, so Wife and I are alone for dinner. I’m going to slap some burgers on the grill (hers=tomato/cheese, mine=bleu cheese) and have this yummy looking spicy ranch pasta salad I found in the deli counter. Tomorrow the Wife has annointed as Eyetalian Day. I’m going to whip up a couple pizzas while she watches three Sopranos episodes, and Monday’s gonna be some salmon steaks on the grill.
So, without further ado, I’m off to cut the grass and kill weeds. Then I may wash the car the old fashioned way. I promsed the Wife I would do that occasionally instead of paying the messicans at the Fancy Car Wash place to do it for me. My two neighbors have some obscene fascination with washing their cars, they’re out there at least 2-3 times a week scrubbing them down. Makes me look like some kind of car slob.
I wholeheartedly second this. My life has been uneventful recently, but I am going to buy shirts for this summer now. I need collared short sleeve shirts so I can look nice at work. Unfortunately I also need to wear … pants. During the Florida summer. Ewwww.
Before I dash off, I just wanted to make an announcement. Normally I don’t make this so serious, but this is important. No, I mean it this time. So listen up. I just wanted to say that … there’s no more awesomeness. It’s all gone. I know, I know. It shook me up too. All those things that were made of awesome, Poof! Gone. There is no awesome …
Except X-Men 3. It has sucked all the awesomeness out of everything in the entire Universe. It’s not just made of awesome. It’s made of ALL THE AWESOME, ANYWHERE, EVER. Chuck Norris is watching this movie lamentedly, sighing, watching his former awesomeness (in the form of Jean Grey’s badass Phoenix), remembering the days when they boogeyman checked his closets for him. Now the boogeyman checks his closets for the X Men.
A fast post to say that VunderWife and I have been home about an hour, in case y’all were worried.
Time to clean the bioloy experiments from the fridge, and go buy more grub. I’m sick of fast food right now.
Pictures turned out OK, but it will be a while before I have them cropped for public consumption. I’ll post them late tonight or tomrrow.
Mom, soon I will regale all of the MMP with pictures of how we polish a diamond in the rough, or polish a turd, depending on the home inspection at the end of next week…
Construction is going very slowly… it’s because of the plumbing mostly - that which we are installing and that which we are working around. Two walls are framed, and we were about to start on the third one when I suggested a break.
I came upstairs to discover that Miss Kitty puked in 3 spots - obviously, she’d been eating dog food again. You’d think she’d learn! So we pulled out the Little Green Machine and cleaned the carpet spots. Then I hid the dog’s dish in the pantry to keep li’l puker out of it.
If we get done what we want to finish tonight, we’ll be buying sheetrock tomorrow. Woohoo… That’ll be the worst part of the project. But it’ll be worth it.
The weather everywhere must be cooperating, since it appears all the cool kids are sitting on their front porch, sipping something cool tonight.
Nah, some of us have been laboring in the basement. We just quit, and I’m awaiting my turn in the shower…
Today I get to be a grumpy bear due to lack of sleep.
Also, AG has filled the house with smoke because he is cooking an entire boneless half leg of lamb on a grill pan turned on high, thus charring the outside, while to his dismay, leaving the inside at a nice cold 60 degrees according to the meat thermometer. I keep trying to convince him that we’re going to have to finish it off in the oven, but he won’t believe me. Oh well.
Sounds like time for the oven to me, donkeybear. Does my opinion count with AG (who is apparently no longer anagramless… )?
Sounds like a lot of people are getting stuff done today. (Yes, Rebo, resting counts since you’re working on feeling better…!)
Made a second trip to the nursery, bought a few new containers, planted about 16…nope 17. The sad part is that I’m nowhere near done. I’m filling in some of the empty spots under the crabapples with containers - we’ll see how that turns out. I’m planning to get up really early to do further mulching and planting under the crabapples.
After church, I’ll probably call a friend and go to the movies in the afternoon, since it’s supposed to be 90 tomorrow. Then I’ll plant the remaining containers, I hope. I’m guessing I’ll be tired. Monday’s going to be a lot like tomorrow, possible with another movie with yet another friend.
I don’t have a real porch, but I’m thinking about sitting on the stoop for a while. First I have to go to the corner to get milk. I’m all out and I really want Cheerios for dinner.

needed the a/c today when I got home and <gasp> it worked! (which means I am reprieved for yet another year) - I bought it in '95 and placed it where some shingles had fallen and some birds had made a home - so they relocated to the a/c housing - which has caused a variety o malfuntions over the years, but since the warranty had expired in '04, I had to actually find my own repair man last year - and he did a FANTASTIC job. So - I will survive this summer.
Off to buy drywall! Envy me, all!!
Well, he finally did put it in the oven, and things turned out well.
By the way, it turns out that you can go buy an angelfood cake premade, cut it in half, put cool whip and strawberries in the inside, put the top back on, put cool whip and strawberries on top, and it’s almost as good as taking the effort to make strawberry shortcake for real.
Mmmm, my mom used to do this with angel food cake… Yummy.
I’m up later than planned - OK because I was awake in the middle of the night again. Time to change bedrooms again, I think. That usually helps.
Missed the pre-church gardening window, but I can still do laundry, which I badly need to.
Off to throw something in the washer and have breakfast.

Let me just say that painting with the kids was not the bonding experience I had hoped it would be…
Painted for 6 hours yesterday and then cleaned up and watched Six Feet Under for 5 hours. (I rented the entire first season–yes, I am obsessed and will be watching all the seasons on off days etc) with my husband-who was nice enough to go get pizza and bring it back to consume. Yum.
Need to paint the front hall (which, luckily, is the size of a small closet) today–and then I am done for awhile. The DR can just look like shit for a bit. I have NO desire to hang wallpaper in this HEAT AND HUMIDITY. And the DR is being used as a storeroom right now anyway.
Tis a gorgeous day–except that it is too effing HOT. Think we may cave and turn the A/C on today.
Parade tomorrow, and the nothing–I want a day of rest, for work on Tuesday.
Hello to all and has anyone seen Da Vinci Code? Is that Garrison Keillor movie out yet? I would like to go to either, I think(I tend to eventually rent the video-except for HP movies).
OK, it’s finally time to bore y’all with the proud Dad stuff.
My son’s commencement was Wednesday evening, at the Conseco Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis, the Warren Central High School Class of 2006. He was part of a class of 759, and it took all night to read all of the names. These are the shots that came out of my camera; I might have more later when my MiL sends the ones she shot.
First is the lucky grad himself. Next is a pair of VunderKind
with his hunny .
No collection of cheesy special event shots would be complete without the proud parents getting in on the action.
VunderWife has to ride a scooter, so we were separated from the rest of the family because of handicapped access. If this was a basketball game, we’d’ve been been blessed with midcourt seats, but not on the lowest tier. Looking down to where the family was sitting, my SiL (on the left) and Miss Hunny wave up to us.
Lots of time passed until they got around to calling out VunderKid’s name. Here he is, live on the floor, as his name is read (I’m too cheap for a digital camera with zoom…). Luckily, since the event was held in the home of the Indiana Pacers, the mid-court screens were on, and I got some better shots of him taking the walk
