MMP: Garage Sales, an early Father's Day and a birthday party

Yay again for Vunderkid! Nice pics Bobbio. And, DANG! you’re gettin’ to be one right svelte, skinny person. Good for you!

Taters the brownies are not my fault. I did not make brownies. The lesbians are making and bringing brownies. Well, one of 'em is. The other one does not cook and is quite proud of the fact. So, it’s the brownie bearing lesbian who’s at fault. I’ll be sure to let her know that.

Here’s something else one can do with an angel food cake, which is kinda like what donkeybear said, but different. Slice an angel food cake into three layers. Mix together 4 ounces of softened low fat cream cheese, a container of low fat cottage cheese, a container of sugar free whipped topping and a box of sugar free Jell-O. Slice up some strawberries and fold into the mixture. Spread the mixture between the angel food layers. There should be enough left over to frost the outside of the cake too, but if there’s not enough, mix in some more whipped topping and frost. Garnish with strawberry halves and refrigerate until time to serve. It sounds kinda strange, but it’s good! A nummy summer time dessert.

I’ve got meatloaf baking right now. I’m making meatloaf, butterbeans, company smashed taters (N.O.T.), and rolls (the frozen kind cause I cheat) for lunch. The lesbians and kids will be over mid afternoon for pool time and sammiches and stuff for supper. I made some tater (N.O.T.) salad for that. I seem to have done a lot with potatoes today.

HAPPY SUNDAY ALL!!!

Umm… perhaps I should clarify that it should be sugar free strawberry Jell-O cause another flavor might be kinda ick with this cake. But I’m sure y’all know that.

W00t! Nice pics, Bob!

Sorry, guys. Yesterday we were trying to figure out what’s wrong with the cd burner, and I had no internet access all day. It was okay, because I went yard saling and to an incredibly cool craft show- all hipster twentsomethings with nifty jewellery and stuffed toys and clothes- and then went off to work.
I’m going to rant.

New Guy is annoying. He looks like Driving Husband’s dad, which is kind of weird, and he wanders around not really doing any work and making little “humph, harrumph, hmmph” noises to himself, and he talks. Argh. I’ve probably only worked five shifts or so with him so far, and I’ve heard hours and hours of his life story. He doesn’t get walking away. He doesn’t pick up on “I’m not interested” signals.

He talks about how mean it is that Welfare takes half of his paycheque (he’s still receiving Welfare), and how he’s going to scam them, and how this isn’t really a real job, and he’s worked for all sorts of high-security banks and international finance stuff.

And he doesn’t take instruction gracefully, and he randomly does all sorts of simple things wrong.

And then he blames other people.

He also pees on the seat, leaves dirty dishes around all the time.

I want to wring his neck. He’s driving me and the other girl who works Saturday nights batty.

There. I’m done now.

MMMMMMMM, angel food with strawberries & whipped cream.

rigs, “too” hot? No such thing hon. I know you avoid the sun and all, but heat is wunnnnerful. I bask in humidity, and roll around in the heat purring like a kitten. Ok, not that last part, but I live for this kind of weather. Hey, that pizza…was it Aurelios? I’ll be jealous…all we have out here in Almost Iowa is a carry-out stand 10 minutes away. “sniff”

Today a bike ride is on tap, probably not a long one as the Wife threatens to wipe the cobwebs off of her bike and come with me. This means a takin’ it easy pace and probably not as far as I’d normally tackle by myself, but eh, it’s togetherness and all that crap, right?

Tonight, after the Child gets home from working in her air-conditioned mall, we’ll have a couple homemade pizzaa - one veggie, one good old fashioned sausage, maybe with some 'shrooms. Crack open a beeverage, sit on the porch and wait for the Sopranos to finish their marathon so I can go back in the house.

Against my better judgement, I have decided the grab the Child’s copy of The Da Vinci Code and give it a read. I started last night, and so far, I give it a wholehearted "eh?’. Maybe it’ll get better, probably not. All the depth of Dick and Jane, ya know?

I gave up on Louis Freeh’s book all about Louis Freeh, and the things that Louis Freeh did when Louis Freeh was saving the world from people who did bad things, and all the people that stood in the way of Louis Freeh and the Good Things that Louis Freeh ever tried to do to make the world a better place for people, even the ones who are not so fortunate as to be as perfect as Louis Freeh.

What a frigging egomaniac. Louis Freeh I mean.

Ok, time to get off the couch, run some errands, get the Wife home and saddle her up.

For the bike ride, get your minds out of the gutters.

Oh, Bobbio, way cool pics, that’s a neat place to have a graduation, with the big screen and all.

FCM, I envy no one that has to to drywall. I weep for you. :frowning:

It’s too hot here, today, and it’s getting hotter. I want to move to Nunavut.

swampy, that recipe will work with non-diet products too, yes?

Good morning all.

Bobbio, those are very nice pics. Your son looks just like you. You are turning into one svelte man!

Last night’s party did not end until well after 3:00 a.m. Well, that’s when I went to bed anyway. The nephew, and couple other fellows stayed up longer.

Tally of party damage is:

Filthy kitchen floor due to spilled drinks, spilled water dish, and people coming in and out from the back patio to smoke (it was raining).

Trash from the paper plates, munchies, booze, and party cups.

Broken screen door from nephew walking right through it. :dubious:
We fixed that, but I think it’s a little bent too because it doesn’t roll as smoothly as it did in the track.

Pantry door knocked completely off track and now hanging in misalighnment. I need to unhook it again from it’s upper track and realign it so the bottom of the door is running in it’s little channel. The problem is that it is the door that is in the back track, so it’s a huge PITA to work with. We have a big double sliding door pantry, just so you understand.

As I’m sure you can all imagine and understand, I’m quite through with being party hostess for a bit. We’re (most of us) in our 30’s and above. Actually, the hubby and I are both over 40. We’re not college kids (no offense to the college kids here).

There’s no need or call for this destruction.

Good points of the party were that everyone had a blast. We won 80 bucks playing 99. Not as many people showed up as originally planned, but there were still quite a few folks. There was plenty of food and booze and other drinks on hand.

It’s still raining.

Tonight’s dinner is a Copper River salmon filet. I’m looking forward to it. I think I’ll make some rice and normandy style veggies to go with it.

For those of you complaining about the heat; ya want my rain?

Um, that would be "There were plenty of food, drinks, etc… :o

I’m still sleepy, I may take a nap today.

I have returned from my shopping expedition. I now have two new pairs of pants, two new blouses, new undies, and new socks. I also bought a new kind of soap that I happened to spot.

The pool is finally open, so I might take a dip later. Either that or wander downtown.

Back from church and brunch. It doesn’t seem quite as hot outside as I’d expected, so I may still get a bit of garden work done before the temperature peaks.

rigs, I haven’t seen DaVinci Code, but just talked to someone who did and really enjoyed it. The Garrison Keillor movie opens June 9th, although there are limited showings before then. (I know there’s one here in Columbus on June 8.)

Cool pics, Bobbio. Congrats again to the VunderKid.

Hope New Guy doesn’t last too long, LiLi.

I’m sleepy…maybe I’ll take a nap.

Happy day before Memorial Day!

Doing a bit of laundry, cooked breakfast, and taking it easy (still!) I’m feeling better today. Oh, I even picked up all the dog poop in the backyard! About 3 pounds of it! One week’s worth for two dogs. Dang, that’s a lot of poop. My hubby was grateful, since he usually does it.

We’re supposed to get some rain today. Woo-hoo! Anybody’s extra rain is gratefully accepted. We’re about 5 inches behind. It keeps going north of us.

So I will grill the steaks in the rain, if necessary. We are having sirloin strips, baked taters (N.O.T.!) and salad. Brownies for dessert.

Tomorrow I’m gonna make a beer butt chicken! It’s my first time. It’s gonna be nummalicious! And foil packets of sliced taters (N.O.T.!) onions and peppers. And asparagus. And a Mrs. Smith’s apple pie - a la mode, doncha know!.

I’m way too into food…

Wow. I am SUCH a bad MMPer.

So lapsed, I am.

I’ll take your rain, Taters. I’d rather have rain than tomorrow’s 30C plus humidity. Bleh.

Lissla, sounds like you’re having our weather too. But we’ve had enough rain. I just want it to be tolerable out…

LOUNE…nice to see you stopping by. We just figured you were busy working on our retirement fund…

GT

It’s hot here, too. The dog pooped out of her walk after 100 yards.

I’m taking a heat break. I needed some AC! I told everybody I’d be back in a few minutes, so I best make this quick and get back out there.

LiLi, new guy is a grade A one hunnert percent slacker ass and will not last long. Trust me on this. You can make the cake with all uber fat regular products, but it might cause warts. Or still be just as good. It’s a risk you’ll have to take.

Taters, ummm… daaaaaaaaayuuuuum! I just can’t wrap my mind around why anybody would feel the need to take a door off its track. Or not clean up a spilled drink. The nephew and the screen door, well, since you have so eloquently described him to us, I guess that’s about what we’d expect of him.

Back to the pool!

I just got back from my first ride of the year on the VunderBike. I rode out to the beach were I usually go for my Sunday hikes, and rode in the sand. All in all, a pleasant ride of roughly 15 miles.

The bad part is that it’s literally the first I’ve been on my bike, and my thighs are screaming now. I won’t welcome tomorrow…

Well, I’m goig to take a shower because I’m stinky, and then go get a fishing license so I can go [del] feed squid to the crabs[/del] surf fishing in the morning.

Well, the nephew was sort of knocked into the door by someone else, or the dog, we can’t figure out which. At any rate, he’s in there fixing it now. The nephew would try to wipe up the drinks, but several of us would rush over with paper towels and bar towels to minimize the damage. At any rate, it’s all cleaned up now, except I need to wash the floor. I may just do that tomorrow. I’m pooped.

We’re through pool partyin’. It’s just waaaaaay hot and everybody was kinda like all tired of being outside anyways. Anyways, the lesbians and kids went home cause AC is the way to go right now. According to the weather folks it’s 99F with a heat index of 103F right now. At six p.m.! That’s more like July/August weather. I gotta get conditioned to the heat and humidity. It’s supposed to be gradual not all of a sudden here I am.

Taters you deserve to be pooped. I say you get to lie around on the sofa while Mr. Taters and the Tots fetch you cool drinks and ice cream. Sounds fair to me.

We’ve quit for the day. Most of the framing is done. All of the wiring, except for the power for the dryer, has been pulled. I mounted the exhaust fan and pulled wires to it, but we need to cut the opening to vent it outside. We also need to cut the opening for the dryer vent.

The plumbing should be done. We thought it was done earlier, but when we turned the water back on, there was a leak. And when FCD tried to tighten the connection just a wee bit more, it caused the joint between the pipe and the T to let go, spraying water thither and yon. So he replaced that section of pipe, and we have to wait another 45 minutes before we can turn the water on. And shower.

We’ve got 24 sheets of drywall on the trailer. With luck, we’ll start hanging some of it tomorrow. I also need to see what paint we’ve got left over from the upstairs projects. I’m thinking the bathroom down there will be sage - that’s the color we’ve got the most of. After it’s painted, the tile goes down (vinyl that looks like grey slate), then the toilet goes in, and the washer and dryer. We won’t have a sink in there till we redo the master bath - that sink will go to the basement and we’ll get a new one for our bathroom.

Nice pics, Bobbio! So, is your kid headed to college now?

Swampy, I so agree with you about the weather. If it’s this hot in May, I am going to die in August. I’ve already told Mr. SCL I’m going to spend the summer at the cabin. In the lake. Although by August, Lake Harding isn’t that cool. It’s still wet, but kinda lukewarm until you hit one of the cool pockets from a spring.

Spent the day chopping unwanted greenery out of the backyard and planting sunflowers.

Two nurses have quit the private duty case Mr. SCL is assigned to, so he’s been getting overtime. I love the extra money, but hate it when he gets so tired he’s grumpy. He’s a pretty even-tempered person, so it takes quite a bit to make him grumpy.

I still haven’t received my hockey jersey, and it’s been almost a month. I e-mailed the seller Friday and said some things including “negative feedback” and “I want the jersey but at this point I will settle for a refund.” I’d really rather have the jersey. She said she would check into it. Grrrrrrrrrrr.

Swampy, thanks for the angel food cake idea - we’re having a Cottonmouths Booster Club cookout next weekend and with my famous cole slaw, that should be enough to take. I’ll be getting the disks and stuff to officially take over as corresponding secretary, so if anyone has any ideas for articles to go in a hockey newsletter, or any fundraising ideas, please let me know.

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day, and please be safe.
