MMP: It's a FairyChatMom Birthday with Buttermilk Biscuits!

it contains dairy - hence the creaminess of the fresh version. - so yeah - it’ll turn

Thank you, thank you, thank you, one and all! And 'specially my favorite faaaaaaaabulous geezer, who, despite his frequent cheap shots, is not a bad sort. I know he launches the digs my way because I so don’t look my age while he appears to have quite a few more miles on him. But he bought me dinner once, so I’m kinda beholden. Yeah, you’re ok, swampy!

But as others have said, since you posted here, that automatically makes you one of the cool kids! And Happy Birthday to you too! Ain’t it great to have a b-day that’s as easy to remember as 1-2-3 (or 1/23)!!

My coworkers surprised me with a cake and a potted purple tulip and a card and a serenade that at least had to equal swampy’s in, um, spirit. And they just barely caught me. I usually leave around 2:05, but I was dashing off an email and it got to be 2:10 when they all came over. It was only the second time in my life that I was surprised on my b-day! FCD conspired with friends to fake me out about 15 years ago. Anyway, I hope they all enjoyed the cake. I’m making a diligent effort to shed the holiday poundage and get back on the losing track, so I didn’t even lick the frosting off my fingers as I served them. It wasn’t too difficult as it wasn’t chocolate… Whew!
And now for the reason I was going to do the MMP myself today, until swampy whined and cried and pleaded for me to let him do it… :stuck_out_tongue: Some of you may recall that today is the day I was going to announce the winners of the first ever FCM Ceramics Raffle. You may further recall that I had two pieces to send out. As luck would have it, I got two emails, so picking the lucky winners was easy! I stopped at the post office on the way home today and mailed both packages - Priority Mail, because I care (and because it was just a few cents more than Parcel Post).

Don’t ya wish now that you’d remembered to send an email?

Again, thanks everyone! FCD will be taking me out to dinner some time next week when we’re off the most restrictive phase of South Beach. Nothing like a little delayed celebration!

Happy Birthday, FairyChatMom!

Funny you should mention the sink - we were discussing its eventual replacement. What we bought was a Thermocast sink in almond. I love the color, I love the depth and the shapes of the bowls, but I hate the material. It gets dirty so easily, plus it chips (hence the rubbermaid thingie straddling the divide between the bowls) and since it’s synthetic, abrasives are not a good idea. I clean it with Soft Scrub, and it mostly does OK. But when I have a couple hundred dollars to waste, I’ll replace it with a porcelain on cast iron sink. My MIL suggested toothpaste for some of the darker scratches - worth a try as long as you don’t use the gel kind.

Dam, dam, dam.

And I so wanted the subsequently lidded pot.

<pouts> (I do that alot. Doesn’t do much)
#2 son is feeling better and has settled into an afternoon of videos and TV. (hey, he’s sick, all right!?)

Hope he’ll go to school tomorrow–2nd grade homework is a bitch to make up!

Thanks - I’ll try both.

And I sent an e-mail! Woo-hoo!

: does a big fat happy dance :

And I took your suggestion (request?) regarding a certificate of authenticity. Personally autographed and everything! Dunno which one I sent you - it’ll be a surprise all around, right?

Wow, a page and a half already. This is what I get for going to class. I’ll have to do something extra special to make up for not posting this morning (I had to wake up at 9 instead of 8 to get a reasonable amount of sleep, which unfortunately left no time for checking in on the Dope). Here goes nothing …

HAPPY BIRTHDAY FAIRY CHAT MOM and kaiwik!!

There, how’s that? :: serves up a deliciously rich and astoundingly large chocolate cake ::

Classes went from “Yeah, okay, nothing I haven’t thought over in detail before” (Philosophical Problems of Space and Time) to “Yeah, okay, nothing I haven’t thought over in detail before” (Abstract Algebra. Today we did – get this – addition and multiplication  ) to “Yeah, okay, nothing I haven’t thought over in detail before” (EM Theory, which I’m retaking). I know what you’re thinking, that there’s some kind of pattern here, and you’re absolutely right. But don’t think this is indicative of the rest of my semesters. RPI courses follow this pattern a lot; they lull you into a false sense of security and then BAM! drop the bottom out from beneath you, at which point you’d damn well be ready to tread water or you sink.

Tonight is going to be a quick PPoST (see above) summary, and then I’ll be helping a Bio major friend of mine with her Physics II homework. And can I just say that January has officially gone schizo? Pretty soon the needles on the pine trees are going to fall off, JUST TO SPITE US.

You’re welcome, rigs. I’m glad your son is feeling better.

<huffy voice>

To SOME of us, multiplication and addition are NEW-ish subjects!

Thanks for the nice words re #2 son. He won’t be eating Gummi bears again any time soon!

The computer room is officially clean–I even washed the walls and rearranged the pics on them.
And I worked on my app. Life is good.

Now, what to make for dinner. Feels like a Kielbasa and au Gratin potatoes noc (N.O.T.).

sounds yummy - if you need ideas for the leftovers, I’ll take’em

What is this leftovers? I am not familiar with the term.

FCD just got home. He brought me a couple of ceramics books - I can’t wait to try out some of the stuff shown! He’s so good to me!

Easy…do what I did and teach your other hand to use the mouse. I’m a lefty and always used my mouse with my left hand which was rather awkward since I needed to use another finger than my index finger to click. Then I got “mouse elbow” which was excrutiatingly hurty and had no choice but to switch to my right hand. It really didn’t take too long to train and now I wouldn’t switch back. (And, no, it is NOT easier to teach a right hand how to do things.)

If you gotta ask, chances are it’s time to toss it.

Drae I thought of that joke with the monkey and the cork too.

I made kielbasa and pierogies Saturday. Yummy good ness all for me. I learned to eat those foods where I grew up, in PITTSBURGH. You know, the city that winning the next Super Bowl because the team they’re playing has had an easy schedule all year.

One for the Thumb, Baby!!!

Well, if it’s not better by tomorrow, the office manager has informed me in no uncertain terms that I will go to the doctor. Who needs your mother around when you have coworkers to do all the mothering you could ever want?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Then if it doesn’t get better after that, I’ll have to think about new mouse skills.

Uh, I beg to differ on who’s winning the Superbowl. It would be
S-E-A-T-T-L-E

Yeah, yeah, you can harp on their “easy” schedule, but you’re just jealous. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it. We’ll see who the winner is come February 5th.

Happy Birthday FCM!!!

I haven’t read the rest of the thread yet, I need to post this before I chicken out.

Well, my weekend was very interesting, to say the least. Hubby[sup]tm[/sup] and I had a long conversation on Sat afternoon, and we told each other stuff we had been afraid to say to each other, especially after being married for almost 19 years. I told him that I’m Bi. We have more in common than either of us suspected, because it turns out that so is he. I’m glad swampy has ACBG, cause Hubby[sup]tm[/sup] is just his type. So my contribution to this weeks TMI is that we pretty much had almost nonstop sex all weekend, except to sleep, or work. Or talk about sex.

That may qualify as Too Little Info, really…

Are congratulations in order? If so, then congrats!

Maybe I’ll tell my husband I’m bi–see if that gets a rise outta him (heh). Something to do on a winter’s eve, anyways…*

*no dismissal of your news meant, just kiddin’ around.

Let’s Go Mets?

Wrong sport, but as a fellow Mets fan I offer an eager “Hear hear!”

Hey, why are you all laughing?
